Everything was fantastic. MONA offers everything from the art experience to food and drinks with fantastic live music, wonderful architecture, nice ferry ride, made all the more enjoyable with great service. If you enjoy art, outdoor music, architecture, gardens, ferry rides, food, craft beers and more then MONA is worth a visit. My only regret is not having enough time to enjoy everything. I would recommend dedicating an entire day! It is worthwhile. Enjoy Safety: Staff were proactive and attentive. They ensured visitors were safe and attentive of their whereabouts at all times as some of the exhibitions were in very dark settings or narrow corridors. In addition, there was always a staff on hand to assist or share information. Walkability: The estate is accessible to all. There are elevators for those with accessibility issues and a wide 99 step from pier to Museum entry and gardens. The walkways are nice and wide. Food & drinks: Good variety of food and drinks and reasonably priced. The gardens are fantastic and there's plenty of space. There's also some interesting dishes. Noteworthy details: Everything was fantastic. MONA offers everything from the art experience to food and drinks with fantastic live music, wonderful architecture, a nice boat ride, made all the more enjoyable with great service.

This is probably the best art museum I’ve been to. Yes the Mona Lisa is amazing, but you can only look at some many oil paintings before getting bored. The modern, versatile art at the Mona created a fun interactive exhibit for the viewer. As with any art, some of it I understood, and some left me scratching my head. It’s a great day trip from Hobart. They make it so easy to get there too with the ferry service. Definitely opt for the posh pit if you’re looking to ride in style!

Exceptional, firstly architecturally designed gardens blend and highlight the natural landscape, then the collections in doors appeal to every sense. Food is fabulous but best to book ahead for the dinning degustation experience as this will provide you opportunity to private art showings for a small fee. Should also mention the outdoor play area is awesome too. A refreshing, inspiring enriching experience.

You must visit this, if you are into modern art. I loved installation art and all those that engage you to interact with the masterpiece. I planned to spend my day visiting Hobart, but ended up spending the full 7 hours in MONA (and yet have not spent enough on all works) - I should return one day and enjoy this place again

An absolutely stunning experience for the senses is perhaps the only proper way to describe my experience here. The art, the sounds, the magic they create with light (or darkness) and spider webs, amongst many other things is just unbelievable. I would recommend a minimum of 3 hours to explore this place, although I reckon we could've spent 5 hours here easily! The staff were very knowledgeable and polite as well so overall a superb experience.

Tasmania’s man made wonder. A cultural light bulb and we tourists are drawn to it like moths. And rightly so. The buildings and grounds themselves are a work of art, an architectural masterpiece and an engineering wonder. What’s inside is more impressive. Provocative and inspiring. Sublime and grotesque. It’s what good art should be. Wait time Up to 10 min Reservation recommended Yes … More

Amazing! The experience was amazing! I loved everything from the ferry ride down to the dark and interesting sights the museum had to offer! I will say this. Bring enough money for bar and food if you rode the ferry and have enough waiting time! Visited on Weekend Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Yes … More

What an insane adventure; from the moment you enter the grounds you are surrounded by sculptures and buildings that engage and enchant. Moving through the exhibitions inside was so delightful. I wandered around viewing exhibits and then sat and read the info on each item on the MONA app. This was a great way to get involved with the art and then learn more about the piece and the artist. I always had my first impressions, and the initial exploration and enjoyment.

Amazing inspiring experience at MONA. Definitely a museum like no other. The entrance is 35$ for tourists and we spent about 4 hours on site. If there is a museum that you need to go in your life it's definitely this one! I don't suggest bringing young kids as it gets loud in some rooms and the themes are dark and for adults. I also enjoyed a nice meal on the patio view on the vineyards!

Every time is a great unique experience. With a unique and captivating location the unique pieces combine to inspire and draw out mindfulness. Some areas have adult content which can be confronting. There was one exhibit I had hoped to see was the cobblestones from Hiroshima which were available to make a rubbing. A great educational piece was a wall of female intimate anatomy.

Took the ferry in the posh pit, was a great experience even on a cloudy/rainy day. Only issue was 99 stairs up to the entrance that my elderly mother had to climb. I understand that there is a tunnel being built soon to assist with that issue. Staff very lovely, museum incredible and well worth the visit

Followed popular advice and booked the posh pit on the ferry. Best decision! Once you get there, just immerse yourself in it all. Start from the top and work your way down. We arrived at about 11, gave ourselves plenty of time to wander, relax and explore, coming back on the 4pm ferry. Lots to see and do, very interactive & thought provoking. If you’re taking kids, research age-appropriate installations and exhibits. A must see and do if you’re travelling to Hobart!

It is a very stylish museum for all ages. Exhibition objects merge the trends of past and future, beyond generations, genders, genres, and senses. Just amazed with artists' imagination and creative abilities. The museum is settled underground but the design is spaciously modern and vivid. Outside areas are also interesting: abstract sculptures, live music, onsite restaurant, kids playground are all part of the modern arts. It is a place worth visiting again and again...

We went to Mona up Late during Dark Mofo and really enjoyed our time there. The ferry to and from was excellent, there was plenty of food options but given the event queues were very long. Would recommend a trip to the museum for anyone visiting Hobart, it’s very different and we really enjoyed our time.

The building and grounds are amazing and that's just the start. This museum is well worth a visit in Hobart, and I can see why it has its popular reputation. The ferry ride is well worth it too, the river is stunning. Plan for at least 3 hours, if not more to sit, eat a meal and enjoy the live music. This has to be the most amazing gallery I have every been to. Better then ones across New York and Melbourne. It had a very dark subject matter theme across the gallery which was quite interesting. I really enjoyed all of the exhibitions and the gallery it self is very architecturally interesting. Definitely worth a trip here and if you are going make sure you block out at least half the day. We weren’t able to catch the ferry but we caught the bus and the driver gave us interesting facts on the way.

I was a little disappointed with one thing I'm a single dad who enjoys art but as I have a young boy I was unable to get the full experience of the wonders that Mona have due to my son wanting to touch everything and wanting to rush through his interest was limited if there was maybe somewhere I could leave my boy who could experience art in a way he may enjoy the experience as well so then I could take my time and fully take in the experience i think it would be more family friendly and children could enjoy art just like there mums and dads. We both enjoyed the ferry ride over but for the young fella it sort of stopped at that with the ferry ride back just as enjoyable Mona is a great place to visit for its various art exhibits the music was great on the ears and and a variety of places for lunch and some tunes.

Always an incredible day out. Revisiting the permanent and seeing the new exhibits is just a recipe for success. Combine it with excellent food and beverages available in and outside of the actual museum, complete with artful toilets, masterful landscaping,... makes this place a wonderful visit for young and old.

When I asked a friend, what I have to do in Tasmania, he said: MONA. So I did - and it was great. If you can’t afford the ferry (which would be a recommendation tho), you can also go there by public transport in about an hours (until 31. April it’s free!). You should definitely get the app as it can tell you a lot more are the pieces. You should plan to spend a minimum of 3 hours here, which you can easily extend to 5, as there is so much to see. Many describe Mona as “just weird”. That might be true - but it in a very interesting way. It made even me, who knows nothing about arts, think and reflect. Or just wonder. Or just be amazed. It’s a great place, there is lots of stuff for kids to see too, maybe just ask the staff which rooms to focus on/avoid. You have to book the tickets in advanced on their website which is really easy to do. 10/10 would recommend. :)
