Experiencia fantástica: Loved it. Lovely interior of the building with a historic courtyard. The items were all labeled and there were lots of explanations. Was there about 2 hours. Very nice staff. Well worth a visit

Experiencia positiva: The place is nice, and there are plenty of things to see. My only complaint was that the pottery had no descriptions. No guided tours. 8/10

Experiencia fantástica: Great exhibits located in the central historic Eid Guadalajara. Plenty on parking near by and located near many attractions in downtown. Clean restrooms and plenty of place to sit and enjoy the central courtyard.

Experiencia fantástica: Much more than a museum.

Experiencia fantástica: The exhibition of the different historical periods are surprising and illustrative, the cultural perspective they show is very interesting, the space is very wide and friendly to visit and appreciate this museum, as well as the building itself, it is an excellent experience.

Experiencia fantástica: Excellent place for all audiences, from families with children of all ages, even for a solo walk. The only negative detail that I observed is that on Sundays the restrooms do not work. Indispensable if you intend to spend a good time appreciating the exhibitions of the place. The best, without a doubt, the Mammoth of Santa Catarina

Experiencia fantástica: It's nice to prefer to go with a student ID or inapam or any other to avoid paying, it's nice and if you like museums you can spend a good time reading and seeing something of history

Experiencia fantástica: To begin to love this city, I recommend visiting the edte Museum. The collection of the old Guadalajara convents is beautiful. The Painting Workshop on Tuesday mornings is highly recommended.

Experiencia fantástica: Extensive collection of fossils of dinosaurs, trilobites, ammonites.

Hector Gerardo Campos Robles 1 year ago

Experiencia fantástica: The photos I have are from 2016 and I am just showing them but that does not mean that it is still a very good museum in the area

Experiencia fantástica: Have a great skeleton of the mammoth and lots of pieces from mexican periods.

Experiencia fantástica: It is worth visiting... it has different spaces dedicated to the themes and times of the region

Experiencia fantástica: Admission is free (I went on a Sunday) there are sculptures, paintings, petrified trees, bones, stones, animal skeletons, among other things, I recommend visiting it.

Sergio S.H 1 year ago

Experiencia fantástica: Free admission on Sundays. On weekdays, children under 12 and seniors, free admission. It should be noted that Sunday is not access to the entire museum. But what is appreciated, which is only half, is worth it. This museum is very interesting, it has historical and archaeological pieces. Remains of extinct animals and weapons, vessels and tools of yesteryear. Ticket cost to August 2022, $85.00. With discount to students and teachers.

Experiencia fantástica: An unmissable museum for Guadalajara or tourists, only the architecture of the space is already beautiful and what to say about the skeleton of Mamut, a forced selfie, the collection of sacred art where you will discover those oil treasures that marked an era. It has a gift shop and I especially loved the area with petrified trees and the educational area with games like stone dominoes. Visit with children, teenagers and older adults, everyone will be delighted.

Experiencia fantástica: Excellent museum its main attraction are the bones of a mammoth. The cost for adults is 85 pesos which seems high to me.

Francisco de Jesus Hernandez Garcia 1 year ago

Experiencia fantástica: It goes very unnoticed in the center, but it is full of incredible and historical things, although it has a lot of sacred art, it also has other paintings, cannons, fossils and more things to learn, the tour lasts about 1 hour and it is not very crowded so you can take your time, how much also with souvenir shop The price is 80 pesos per person, but they have free admission for students, teachers and retirees

Larz Waggener 1 year ago

Experiencia fantástica: It's not a big place but you can tell the people that work here are very proud of it. Their main attraction is a giant Mastodon skeleton that is complete. And it's free!

sofia lopez 1 year ago

Experiencia fantástica: Very interesting museum, it lacks an explanation at the bottom of the exhibitions (although they told us that they are working on it) one of those who takes care of the area where the Mammoth is located gave us a very good explanation

Lorena Gomez 1 year ago

Experiencia fantástica: If you go on an excursion and not on your own, this father because they tell you when they did it, who did it, where the mammoth was... Etc

Ade Garza 1 year ago

Experiencia fantástica: Sadly, it happened to me that several rooms were being remodeled, so I couldn't get to know it 100%, but what I saw is super interesting, each room has a person who guides you on the subject, very attentive and pleasant. During the week they charge $85 pesos and on Sunday the night is free. Recommended !!!

Experiencia fantástica: I am a student, I only showed my credential where you pay to enter and the access was free; everything is very clean and they are very friendly, it sounds obvious but wear comfortable shoes, I was wearing tennis shoes and I got tired, I can imagine how the girls did who wore heels.

Experiencia fantástica: It should be mentioned that the museum is not open in its entirety, due to pandemic reasons, access is limited and certain sanitary rules must also be observed. The building that houses the museum dates from the 18th century, and was the headquarters of the San José Conciliar Seminary, in Independence it was a military barracks, later it was a prison, in the reform it was a library, in the Porfirian era school, in 1918 it is a museum of Fine Arts until later the National Institute of Anthropology and History, takes possession of the museum. It is a museum that has just turned 100 years since its foundation and that brings together wonderful pieces. One of the most important and which is obviously the main figure of the museum is the armed skeleton of the Mammoth of Catarina, found in Santa Catarina, Jalisco in 1962 and that together with pieces of the diverse prehistoric mega fauna that are part of the first room called "First Inhabitants of Jalisco" In later rooms we can see from the first human inhabitants from their lithic stage that date from between 12,000 and 10,000 years before Christ. As well as its development to pre-Hispanic pieces of a sublime art, which led Western cultures to form complex societies with the infrastructure that this implies. In the Museum in the closed part of the museum there are pieces that tell the colonial history, independence and contemporary times, in a collection of 38 thousand pieces, which makes it one of the most important in the country.

Experiencia fantástica: It is a very interesting place and full of objects of great national value, highly recommended to go in a spare time, in addition to the fact that the building itself is also very beautiful on its own, the truth is that in my opinion it is very little known for everything that it offers, so it is usually very lonely and you can go quietly observing everything it has and walking its corridors either with your family, or as a couple or alone

Experiencia positiva: Would spend no more than 2 hours here, lots of rooms, some of them locked. What attracted me to the place as I assume is the case with a lot of others was the skeleton of the woolly mammoth. If you’re only coming here to see that, it does not disappoint. It’s amazing how well preserved this specimen is. The tusks on the skeleton are almost unbelievably large.
