Experiencia fantástica: We really enjoyed this smaller museum - we spent two hours looking at all the exhibits. The museum has regional clothing, instruments, masks, sculptures, and unique pieces we haven’t seen in other museums.

Experiencia fantástica: This museum was super cool! I would definitely classify it as a must see. It’s not too far from other museums, so you could easily check it out in less than an hour. I had a great time here!

Experiencia fantástica: I am not sure if this site normally makes it onto the short list of CDMX museums, but this place is a gem. The collections of folk art run the gamut from figurines and masks to indigenous clothing and pottery. Different sections have their own haunting music, while others will make you laugh while you learn something. The facility is not too big, so you can probably cover it in a couple of hours at most. If you are into buying things there is a well stocked gift shop. Normally I don’t nibble, but even I bought something last time. I expect to continue visiting this museum whenever I am in Mexico City.

Experiencia fantástica: Stumbled across this fun and inspiring museum one morning. The place has delightful folk art from all across Mexico. You can appreciate the great diversity of the country. Clothing, miniatures, sculpture, painting, and more. Marvellous finds every moment. Probably quite good for kids. Highly recommended.

Experiencia fantástica: So many interesting folk arts. It's better to visit before you go to market to purchase Mexican folk arts.

Experiencia positiva: Very artistic and nice museum. Entry fee is 60$ per person. You'll need about 2 hours here. The only thing I would add: more explanations in English and honestly a better translator; a lot of texts were faulty.

Experiencia fantástica: This is one of my favorite museums in Mexico City. I'm not sure why it isn't more well-known or popular on social media because it's amazing. If you like colorful, Mexican art, you'll love it here. The entry fee is only about $3 USD--definitely worth it. The gift shop is also great, authentic, and reasonably-priced--we bought our souvenirs and gifts for family here. I would go back next time I'm in the area!

Experiencia fantástica: My favorite art museum in Mexico city. The idea of popular art is broad and this place covers it for Mexican history and regions. Not one room was closed for COVID but masks were mandatory and temperatures checked.

Experiencia fantástica: Didn’t have much expectation before visiting but turned out to be my favorite among all museums in cdmx. There are so many handicrafts worth looking at closely so leave more time for this museum!

Experiencia fantástica: Didn't plan on coming here... but I was walking by and saw the eye-catching colours in the foyer. On a whim, I decided to check it out. It was so much better than I expected!!! Entry is cheap, free bag check, and not very many people. The art is all exceptional and the lighting/environment is perfect to showcase each piece. A great journey through Mexican history and culture via folk art. It took me just over 1 hour on my own, but definitely could spend more time if you really want to take everything in. Also, a very kind employee told me to keep my hoodie with me and I am glad they did because it is chilly inside. :)

Experiencia fantástica: Great exhibits. A must see in town. We happened to come when there was an exhibition of art from Dios de los Muertos. It was also an exhibition of traditional Mexican dancing. The exhibits are on several floors and feature great modern and folk are. This is a must see and can be done in a reasonable time.

Experiencia fantástica: Very nice place, great display of local art and explanation of Mexico's History. It was pretty empty because of Covid so it was quite nice to walk around and take my time through the rooms. The people that work there are very nice and explain well how you should move around the place.

Experiencia fantástica: Probably my favorite museum during my visit to CDMX. You’re directed up to the top floor to start your tour of the various rooms. The museum’s building is also impressive with a glass dome ceiling. The gift shop is quite large with a lot of nice things. Some of the items can be found at the mercados (probably for cheaper), but if you’re limited on time, it’s a good spot to pick up some tasteful gifts.

Experiencia fantástica: I wish I could award even more stars to this stunning museum! To be honest, I was expecting to walk through and have seen what I wished to see in 15-30 minutes. As it was, we spent almost two hours in this remarkable museum. The building itself is remarkable for its clean, yet somehow innovative design which renders its exhibits all the more interesting. As to the exhibits? I believe pictures are worth thousands of words, yet the minimalist bit informative informational plaques were also well worth perusing. A real fine. I’m surprised the overall rating is t closer to the perfect five ⭐️ stars I have awarded it.

Experiencia fantástica: Amazing place. I specifically went to see the Huichol att buggy, and it was better than expected. 4 floors full of life and mexican art. It inspired me to add art to my home in california. Definitely will go back again to check out new exhibitions. Beautiful piñatas, and beautiful native dresses. Must come if in town. Sunday are free!

Experiencia fantástica: This is such a good museum!!! I love Mexican art and it's great to see a gallery of traditional art because they aren't generally considered to be part of the fine arts but that doesn't make them lesser!!!! It's a great insight into the real Mexican art and the lives of Mexican artists. I especially loved that they had the big alebrije sculptures that had been displayed around the city for day of the dead.

Experiencia fantástica: Absolutely fantastic museum. Great examples of folk art from all over Mexico. Do not miss the gift shop.

Experiencia fantástica: Such a great eyeful of vibrant arts and crafts of Mexico. Well worth the small entree fee. My eyes were exhausted from the amplitude of things to see and admire.

Experiencia fantástica: Each sala is so different. The art is perfectly encased but also perfectly on display. The intricacy and color in everything is unmatched! A highlight of my time here, for sure.

Experiencia fantástica: A really fun museum to walk through, with plenty of different styles of art to look at. You'll need to check your backpacks, but it's free and easy to do so. The gift shop is expansive and definitely worth looking through - some of the stuff in there is as artful as the items on display. I think this museum could even hold the attention of children if you moved quickly enough.

Experiencia fantástica: Really cool museum! The art and colors represent Mexico very well, but they also show you more about the culture and history. You can go through the museum in about an hour, and I’m sure you’ll leave in a great mood because that’s what the colors and creative art does to you ☺️.

Experiencia fantástica: This is near CDMX zocalo.. This museum is filled with popular art which depicts culture and the history related to Día de Muertos... The paper made sculptures of various animals and catrina are the most attractive..

Experiencia fantástica: An incredible collection of pop art from all over Mexico. Admission is free on Sundays, and the docents are very kind. The bathrooms are big and well-kept, too. Plan to spend at least 2 hours there, starting on the third floor and working your way down for the best experience.

Experiencia fantástica: Fantastic museum located in a stunning art deco building! Really nice overview of México's traditional handicraft and popular art, temporary exhibitions, rich gift shop which is in itself a gallery. Highly recommended.

Experiencia fantástica: This was without exception my favourite art museum in CDMX. Exquisite atrium building displaying a monumental range of Mexican artisan work. More than just regional craft, the work here really evokes the spirit of Mexico. Beautifully displayed objet in a light and airy setting. In my opinion a must see museum.

Gerardo Cárdenas 5 years ago

Experiencia fantástica: It's totally worth it! Take your time and go through all the rooms, they have pieces from every state in Mexico and they also have itinerant shows and workshops, so check before going. It's free on Sundays and the store has amazing things!

Jim Baird 5 years ago

Experiencia fantástica: What a cool neo-pop-art experience, mixed with good historical art from various states of Mexico. Not a lot of people there when we went in, so easy to loiter and soak in all that is of interest. Looks like they have temporary installations, so I’d expect some things would be different next time I go through. Find the time to visit, and save a little time at the end for a visit to gift shop. If you ask, they may offer a discount.

Experiencia fantástica: This place is awesome. The art is presented in a thoughtful and intuitive way that is very pleasing. It is not so large as to be overwhelming. A good 60-90 minutes and you'll see great things.

Sasha Goldina 6 years ago

Experiencia fantástica: This museum is absolutely amazing! You won't learn much about history but you will see vibrant colors, shapes, and things that only peyote smokers have the imagination to conjure up. Highly recommend just for sheer visual pleasure.
