Expérience fantastique: It was a bit too crowded for my liking but that just goes to show how many people are visiting and loving it. I loved it too, and would have loved to spend more time in here if I wasn’t already exhausted that day. So go there fresh and full of energy to truly enjoy reading the info and admiring the artwork

Expérience fantastique: This museum is a must-go when in Amsterdam. You will enjoy the most amazing exposure to Van Gogh's works, a timeline of his life, work progress and more. I really enjoyed it.

Expérience fantastique: For any lover of Vincent van gogh this is the greatest treasure ever. By all means book the tickets 1 month in advance and make you whole day or half of the day free. Get an audio guide. Book the earliest slot 8am possibly and join the queue by 7.50 am. This holds some of the greatest works of the Dutch master that was later donated by dear Theos widow Joanne Van gogh. One of the best sun flowers, wheat fields, self portrait, yellow house, some of his copies of Japanese prints, even works related to him such as Isaac Israels studies of the sun flowers with models posing can be seen. An amazing experience where a massive concentration of the works of Vincent can be seen under the same roof the structure of the gallery is modern and has a great sense of freedom to leisurely admire the genius.

Expérience fantastique: The Van Gogh museum was one of my favorites that I visited, I like the way the paintings are arranged on 3 floors and I recommend paying 3.5 euros for the translator and you can choose your language so you can listen and understand what the artist transmits in the paintings. The only thing I didn't agree with was the time they closed, it's too early for tourists.

Expérience fantastique: Amazing. I love that everything inside is about one artist. Gives you plenty of time to see all of the available art and really understand his life. It says no photos but that means no flat photography or video. You can take pics with your cellphone as long as the light is off. Would definitely come back again. I also recommend the audio guide.

Expérience fantastique: I could see his and other artists' (those who was connected in a way to him) work in three levels. It's huge, and the visitors got a prepared direction that guides through on these levels. If you are using lift I think this direction will be messed up if you won't go to the stairs and continue your walk from there. The museum has a café and 3 shops (on the third level there is no one). I think that would be great improvement if the visitors could sit down and take their time at some pictures.

Expérience fantastique: Incredible to be walking around rooms with these original works in them. I personally liked the layout floor by floor. Walks chronologically through his life and his works, showing many works from artists that influenced him along the way. You can literally walk right up to the paintings and see the brush strokes close up. There were a few interactive screens along the way if your kids get antsy, but VG’s works are so well known that our young kids even seemed to appreciate it all. We did not do the audio tour, and it was still spectacular, but I wouldn’t mind returning and utilizing that guide.

Expérience fantastique: i had known that van gogh produced so many paintings within such a short period of activity, and yet i was so thrown by just the sheer amount of paintings on display. 4 floors just full of works, some of the best known, and some of the least. also littered with works of his friends and artists who were later inspired by him, really well curated.

Expérience fantastique: This was a moving experience for me...not sure why. The paintings are well known, Vincent's stories told in word and song. But I was move seeing these paintings in person. I found the simplicity of the building a showcase for the depth of the artwork. It was busy (another sold-out day) but all moved along and shared space and views. The recorded tour was easy to access and use and worth the extra cost. Plan on the full time to take it all in ... it was my favorite activity in my amsterdam visit.

Expérience fantastique: A must go for every art lover. The venue itself is not really big, but they make rotations with the works on display. I am able to see some works that I didn’t see when I first came here five years ago. Also, they allow visitors to take photos now, which is also a good change compared to before.

Expérience fantastique: The museum is amazing! Besides the obvious art, the descriptions posted next to them in Dutch and English was much appreciated. They also rented head phones with a small handheld device that you could listen to descriptions and commentary on different art pieces. They told stores about how and why certain pieces were created. There were even quotes from Van Gogh himself. Make sure to purchase tickets online early. There were no tickets available for the rest off the day when we visited.

Expérience fantastique: Definitely one of the top attractions in Amsterdam. It was great to see his artistic works and learn about his life. They had audio guides to see the highlights or explore on your own. It took us about one hour and fifteen minutes and we listened to all the official audio guide recordings. Would definitely recommend.

Expérience fantastique: Book your tickets in advance through their website. You will spend around 20 euros. The museum is located at the Museum Square and is very easy to find it. It is very close to the Rijks Museum, Which I have not yet visited, but I will in my next trip. The Van Gogh Museum is an amazing experience for those who loves and cares for this amazing Dutch Artist. When you get inside the museum there is a Cafe right in front of the escalators and the coffee is really well prepared for around 5 euros. If you are porting a big bag, you will be recommended to leave you bag in one of the lockers since you are not allowed to carry it through the museum. Get the map of the museum in the information deck and begin your journey through his life. The Van Gogh´s life is written is the walls and gives you the idea of what his was dealing with in certain period of his life. From there on the journey will bring you through out his entire life from born in The Netherlands to his death in Auvers-sur-Oise in France. In the museum you will find a lot of his self portraits, his paintings of the peasants like the "Potato Eaters" and his painting of flowers like the "Sun Flowers". The museum is full of great and amazing memories of him. I loved it every single corner.

Expérience fantastique: Brilliant museum housing the largest collection of van Gogh's work in the world. From famed pieces to the lesser known. Multi-storey complex with works spanning decades. Fascinating self-portraits and landscape still life captures. Sunflowers was one of the most popular paintings with a queue to view and absorb, whilst my personal favourite was Almond Blossoms.

Expérience fantastique: Incredible museum with so many original pieces. Seeing these in person really adds to the impact of the masterpieces. The museum is laid out chronologically to explain how his painting evolved and it does a really good job telling that story took about 2 hours to get through the museum. Highly recommend! Book online a couple days before as tickets are generally sold out 2 days in advance.

Expérience fantastique: Pros - Very easy and uncomplicated route from amsterdam central. Good management outside and inside the museum. As an admirer of Vincent van gogh's artworks, i enjoyed every second of my almost 4 hour visit. Audio guide tour (In English) was interesting and suitable for visitors with very little knowledge of the subjects but if you have prior knowledge it won't give you much. Maintaining the artwork's relevancy according to timeline was touch of genius. Cheers to that. Cons - Lighting was poor and very inadequate in places (even for some very important paintings). Souvenir shop is very expensive.

Expérience fantastique: This is a well organized museum! They tell Van Gogh 's story chronologically so that visitors can easily notice the difference of paintings during every period of his life. I would highly recommend it!

Expérience fantastique: Learning, art work, and history. There was much more to Van Gogh's story then I understood. This museum is laid out in a clear and understandable way. Clearly laying out timelines learning with his art creations and his peers influences. His brothers' role and his struggles with his own mental health and finally his suicide. If you are any where near this museum consider it a must see and please go!

Expérience fantastique: Recommended! Marvellous exhibition that educates and inspires. Set over 4 floors. You can purchase audio guides which i think were worth it. There are also lockers for the stuff you don't want to shlep around. We easily spent 2.5 hours.

Expérience fantastique: Visited in August 2022 bought the headset to listen to the history. The Museum was great I wish the headset they gave us walked you thru the museum rather than having to choose a random number which was listed very well thru out the museum. Otherwise the Museum was very nice. It was missing one of his most famous pieces Starry Night. Was a great experience would recommend.

Expérience fantastique: This is the largest Van Gogh collection in the world. It was one of the better audio guides that you dialed a point number. As you find a number you can listen to further details that are not displayed. There is a café where you can sit and relax at the entrance. You might be asked tot donate €15, which is interesting in how how much money would be made at the café and the gift shop. Remember there’s no selfie sticks allowed at. The museum. OK you’re allowed to take that as a no problem. Can be quite busy at the museum, like anywhere you are required to book your ticket online in advance to avoid disappointment.

Expérience fantastique: Beautiful and moving museum❤️ one of my favorites. Shows and respectfully explains the life and work of Van Gogh. The visit to this museum is indispensable for anyone who appreciates art. Recommendations: tour the museum using an audio guide.

Expérience fantastique: Easily a must visit place in Amsterdam whether you're an art fanatic or a casual admirerer! The museum is beautiful and well organized. The flow of each floor elevates the experience. The museum restaurant is nice and spacious. The shop offers reasonably priced memorabilia. The guided tour was 5€ and worth it for me, but I can see that not everyone would be into it. The audio guide for 3.5€ is a must.

Expérience fantastique: Highly recommend the visit, getting to see these paintings in real life was such a treat, you can get right close to the paintings and see so much detail and they are much bigger than you think too! Nothing like crazy popular museums in Paris for example where you can't even see the paintings, everyone was able to be spaced out nicely and have a wonderful relaxing experience enjoying the art. It probably took 1.5 hours for me by myself without the audio guide and I revisited a few that I really loved to look at for a while so you could definitely do it faster if you wanted. The shop was okay but didn't have anything exclusive that I hadn't seen before and wasn't the best quality souvenir items so would suggest just buying those elsewhere.

Expérience fantastique: I wouldn't consider myself an art connoisseur but sometimes find it hard to figure out why one work is considered a masterpiece while another is considered trash, especially when it comes to modern art. However, I do appreciate art and try to expose myself to important works of art whenever I have an opportunity. The Van Gogh museum is a must-visit for people like me...his art is accesible and the museum's audio guide does a great job of explaining the nuances while telling you the story of this great artist's life. I wasn't sure I wanted to go, but it was well worth it. In addition to Van Gogh, you'll learn the story of his relationship with other artists such as Paul Gauguin. Exploring the museum is an excellent way to spend an afternoon.

Expérience fantastique: Tickets need to be booked online, usually not available on the same day, so better to plan 2-3 days in advance. Could find very interesting art pieces, Van Gogh's life and his painting skills exhibited in the most authentic way possible. They are very well preserved and to see the painting strokes at a close proximity will be a painter's delight. Even people with no knowledge of art can get inspired by the master pieces in display. There's also a bookstore, souvenir shop and a small cafeteria inside. Toilet facilities also available. Can easily spend around 2-3 hours in this museum.

Expérience fantastique: In our short visit, one of the places we didn't want to miss. Worth visiting - being face to face with Vincent's breathtaking art is a special experience. Book tickets ahead to avoid disappointment. If weather is nice, worth visiting with a bike, bringing a picnic to enjoy in the nice, big green area between Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum.

Expérience fantastique: The most magical immersion on Van Gogh’s art and life. This experience changed my life. Perfect. You can also see other artist as Rodin, Monet and more.

Amal Baiju 2 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Amazing experience. The tickets were a bit dear but overall it's worth the experience. The museum starts off with Van Gogh's initial days as an artist to his final days of struggle and chaos. You'll feel a bit connected to the artist himself throughout your museum tour (if you look closely) and the skill set that he showcased are all captured under one roof. Good stuff and make sure you take the media guide in your tour cos that can make such a huge difference.
