Expérience fantastique: It's a gigantic museum with one of, if not the biggest collection I've ever seen, from old tokens/coins to Michelangelo's fascism scripts and everything in between. I went here with my class and even though we only had an hour or so, that was a very fun hour. 9/10 Definitely recommend

Expérience fantastique: Really amazing, loved all the collections and the bird exhibition. Pieter Teyler's house was a great visit too, loved the four commandments and the room of reflection. Will visit again for sure

Expérience fantastique: Always wanted to visit here but somehow never made it till today ! Such a pleasent experience. The museum was not crowded , and hence it was nice to take time and look around. The museum is a mix of art, science and history and is really nice to read through the information available about the pieces on display. We saw this on open Monument Day and definitely liked it. My kids enjoyed the science bit , watching the fossils was being part of history. Definite must visit once

Expérience positive: This is a beautiful museum! There is lots to see and it’s very interesting. It’s wheelchair accessible but sadly you can’t go everywhere in the museum. The displays are a bit to high for someone sitting in a wheelchair and you really have to stretch yourself to see lots of things. But overall it’s a great museum!

Expérience fantastique: This museum highlights important experiments in science and the building itself (especially the oval library) is a delight. The restaurant offers a good lunch. The audio tour gives relevant context and background.

Expérience fantastique: Teylers Museum (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈtɛilərs myˈzeːjʏm]) is an art, natural history, and science museum in Haarlem, Netherlands. Established in 1778, Teylers Museum was founded as a centre for contemporary art and science.[5] The historic centre of the museum is the neoclassical Oval Room (1784), which was built behind the house of Pieter Teyler van der Hulst (1702–1778), the so-called Fundatiehuis (Foundation House). Pieter Teyler was a wealthy cloth merchant and banker of Scottish descent, who bequeathed his fortune for the advancement of religion, art, and science. He was a Mennonite and follower of the Scottish Enlightenment.

Expérience fantastique: A very fine scientific and art museum with a deep and rich history. Several exclusive pieces from the early/first days of fossil hunting.

Expérience fantastique: Amazing collection of different artifacts - from old bones and fossil to art objects and mechanisms. Highly recommended to visit especially who interested in history and anatomy - you can check different morphs of skulls from different ages and look how lifestyle determine the anatomy. Also interesting section with old mechanisms and devices - how story of big openings begins and what helped in it - from strange prototypes to microscopes and other labs equipments Audio guide is optional

Expérience fantastique: Great place to visit. This museum is more about the history of museums and science itself. A visit is more like a travel back in time to how the concept of scientific research and several nowadays established fields of research got started in the first place. This museum is one of or even the oldest scientific museums in Europe and it was kept like it was. So don't expect a modern pedagogical concept. This is not a place for kids to experience science. However there is a nice audio guide included in the ticket price. Don't miss it. It gives you context for some of the most relevant pieces in the exhibition within the frame of a funny, made up dialog all around an actual real visit of Napoleon to the museum. I was very much surprised how much I liked the place. If you are into science and it's history this place is just perfect.

Expérience positive: We visited this museum on a sunny Saturday in March and it wasn't busy at all. There are a lot of different things to see, dinosaur bones, fossils, stones, paintings and also scientific instruments. What is also very beautiful about the museum is the architecture of the museum itself. We also enjoyed visiting the Teyler house, and reading about Pieter Teyler.

Expérience fantastique: Super cool museum, I loved that you could look at old masters sketches and handle them yourself! Theres something special about holding artwork in your hand instead of looking at it on a wall.

Expérience fantastique: I was here in 2008 and enjoyed my visit very much. The collection cannot be compared with prestigeous foreign collections, but the exceptional setting with its authentic feel of historical significance is more than just a compensation. It is a pity I cannot publish more pictures, but most got lost. Highly recommended museum!

Expérience fantastique: Excellent museum, the kids ( 8 , 9 years old ) had a great experience dinosaurios fósiles. Rocks , etc. 2nd time we went to the museum, every time we discover new interesting things.

Expérience fantastique: Beautiful collection of minerals, fossils and scientific equipment. I am so happy I visited and would again! In the heart of Haarlem surrounded by restaurants, cafes and waterways. Do not compare this to the impressive and imposing Smithsonians, that's not fair. Small, quaint and enjoyable. Especially the recordings about the pieces.

Expérience fantastique: If the Deutsches and the Louvre had a baby it would be Teylers. Small but so much to see. Several rooms of historic scientific apparatuses, and several rooms of Dutch masters fine art they you probably have not seen before. And a great excuse to head out to Haarlem, which is a lovely place to spend a day!

Expérience fantastique: Really loved this museum. It’s display of historical scientific instruments is by far one of the best collections I’ve seen of this type. The museum building is also beautiful and well maintained. The art collection is small but nice. It wasn’t very crowded and the have audio guides in English.

Expérience fantastique: A museum pulled from the 18th century in a beautifully maintained building. Expect fossils, science experiments, a plethora of apparatuses, rocks, and 18th and 19th century paintings in period rooms. Highlight is the spectacular Oval Room. Highly recommended.

Expérience fantastique: Absolutely amazing. If you have any interest in science or history, this is the place for you. A treasure trove of fossils, geodes, coins, and physics instruments-- even an art collection. Plus the house itself is impressive. We could've easily aren't 4 hours here. Try to schedule your visit around the demonstration.

Expérience fantastique: I didn't really know what to expect from Teylers, but it was more then worth the visit. We missed out on the guided tours because they were fully booked for the day, so we are definitely coming back for a tour some day!

Expérience fantastique: Museum that looks deceptively small but is jam packed with incredibly interesting artifacts. It might even be my favorite museum in Netherlands! Go with lot of time at hand. It's part of iamsterdam card. Worth making a special visit to Haarlem just for this!

Maia Kenney 5 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Teylers is the oldest museum in the Netherlands, and an absolute treasure trove of strange items and evidence of early scientific exploration and experimentation. The place is lit by natural light, so go during daylight hours, ideally when it’s sunny! This is a great place to get an understanding of the curiosity of the human spirit.

Mitchell Eersel 5 years ago

Expérience fantastique: One of the most amazing museums I have been to so far. As an art and nature lover my experience was the best. Anything and everything from classical art to drawings of sorts and from ancient fossils to cavebear nostrils. There is really alot to get your curiousity game on point there. Also a very beautifulmade building and incredible architecture.

Teti Lutsak (Teti) 5 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Loved the experience, beautiful and well kept exhibits, touch of antique wooden displays, the flooring and glass roof. Beautiful, but try to avoid crowds. Also visit the museum shop to buy a fossil tooth!

Bruno Geoly 5 years ago

Expérience fantastique: One of the most amazing natural history museums I have ever been to. Fossils and other relics are stacked on the wall in a way that’s almost impossible to see everything the first time. Whether you’re a lover of natural history or just in the area, I highly recommend.

Hangyeol Yu (Hanna) 6 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Free English audio guide is available and it is super interesting to listen to the stories and the explanations. In the first section, you will see very fascinating fossils. How they are displayed is very clasic old fashion, which makes everything even more interesting!

Wood Family 6 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Our family loves science, history and art, and this museum covers all of that. The audio guides were excellent. The kids treasure hunt was only available in English, but we were able to Google translate it and complete it successfully.
