Expérience fantastique: Fascinating place to see the history of development in the Netherlands mainly from 1800 onwards. We spent 6 hours at the venue and only covered just over half of the exhibits, Google indicated an average of a 2 hour visit.... Don't believe Google!!! During the summer season lots of people demonstrating old crafts and happy to discuss how it was done.

Expérience fantastique: Very interesting experience, very beautiful and faithfully transferred to the present some past time. There are quite enough topics to spend a whole day in the museum.

Expérience fantastique: I have been there twice, both the times I enjoyed my visit, thanks to the fantastic people working there really very much. From entering till end you feel the efforts and hardwork they've put in to it. I was so curious about the paper making process and so I asked the nice attendant a question, not only she answered me in full detail, she explained us the whole process thoroughly and patiently. She even just for us demonstrated the whole process! I have not yet seen this much amount of passion and dedication anywhere else. I would highly recommend visiting the museum. It is definitely worth a while and then some. They've their own kind of public transport (for which you don't need any extra tickets) for those who can't walk long stretch.

Expérience fantastique: I was super lucky to catch this on a nice weather day! The place is huge and there is so much to see. I think I only actually saw 2% of it. I was with a group of people on a tour and the guide was very knowledgeable and really wanted us to understand what we were seeing. You really need to come a few times to see everything and it is definitely on my revisit list.

Expérience fantastique: Terrific place! We had a conference here but the place is so massive that you could hardly tell us apart from the rest of the patrons. It helped tremendously that the weather was exceptionally good

Expérience fantastique: This wonderful open air museum is a fascinating experience to be enjoyed. Be sure to start your trip with a ride on the tram so that you have an idea of what the museum has to offer. Each tram stop beings you to a different themed village. It is astonishing to see how the Netherlands have evolved over time and the way we live. There is so much detail given to the history of the buildings and the actors also help to enhance the overall experience. We unfortunately went on a very wet day so we did not see everything there was to offer. The facilities are great and clean. There are ramps for those in wheelchairs. There is a lovely gift shop at the entrance information centre.

Expérience fantastique: Really great open air museum with beautiful buildings from around the Netherlands. Easy to understand signage if you only speak English or German. Lots of living history actors even on the quiet wet and cold day on which we went. The little themed shops to buy old fashioned goods in are my favourite and they even had one vegan option in the bakery!

Expérience fantastique: Beautiful country park with almost too much to see in one day! Brilliant examples of Dutch historian houses, buildings, crafts and other history. Each place has a right amount of information in different forms, to keep you informed and not overwhelmed. The historical trams can bring you to each location, but on foot is very doable. Various places to eat, drink or buy a snack and a playpark for energetic children. Anyway, the whole museum is very suitable to bring your children, even the small ones. Highly recommendable to enjoy a day trefelling through history

Expérience fantastique: A lovely museum to travel through time and understand Dutch culture and way of living over years. The museum has 2 sections: The open air museum and the cannon. I personally liked the open air museum more. It has various sections/themes with a playing area for kids in the middle and plenty of eating options. There are trams running inside the museum area which one can use to get from Point-A to B. In good weather the place looks quite serene.

Expérience fantastique: Great way to spend the day. Allows a window into the Dutch past. Really great for young kids. Has a train to get around the park easier, loads of windmills. Demonstrations and workshops of old arts.

Lex Poot 1 year ago

Expérience fantastique: Great selection of buildings. I appreciated the tram and van gend and loos selection. Loved the different windmills. Pumping water sawing and turn grain into flour. Dutch know how to use wind energy.

Expérience fantastique: The Open Air Museum is a great way to spend a day in the summer on a weekend. There are so many amazing building from across the Netherlands rebuilt in this ideal setting. It’s like a mini tour of the Netherlands and history at the same time. There are several restaurants and eateries you can stop at, as well as children areas and playgrounds. Really great place for the whole family!

Expérience fantastique: The really interesting exhibition led to great discussions about society in our group. Great inclusion of modern topics (freedom) and seasonal things (pride month). The pride month exhibition was very well done. They also have good fries

Alvaro Lau 1 year ago

Expérience fantastique: We went to the Zomeravonden (in August) and it was great! You enter in the afternoon and still be able to visit most of the place. There is a tram that takes you around the park and there are events (for adult and children) and food festival scattered in four places around the museum. You can pay with cash or card in the food festival (no munten). It is definitely worth to visit and spend the rest of the afternoon and evening there (specially with the nice weather).

Expérience fantastique: The food and drinks are on the expensive side of the spectrum, but the view is amazing the staff is very friendly and I highly recommend this place during summer times when all the plants are blooming. Other than that it is a very informative place to have a little peek into history.

Expérience fantastique: Amazing place to visit, especially when the weather is good. A lot of old houses form Netherlands collected in one place, perfect to learn about Dutch history. Very kids friendly, with dedicated paly ground and tram line around the whole park. Located on the outskirts of Arnhem on the hills and surrounded by woods. Kind of a must-see in Netherlands.

Expérience fantastique: One of best museums to understand/learn/ have fun in Netherlands for family. It's included in Museum Kaart. It's must visit if you or your kid is enthusiastic of evolution of living standards. It's a collection of time capsules of Netherlands heritage. Plan for one complete day visit. You would never feel tired as you have hop on and hop off tram within the park. There are few restaurants with good food within the park and also you have ample place to enjoy your food from home. It's better to bike from Arnhem central station, you will come across beautiful cycle paths. Arnhem is one of the best cities to travel on bike on sunny days and enjoying scenic landscape.

Expérience fantastique: One of the best open air museums in the Netherlands. Here you can see some of the Dutch history of the last 2-3 hundred years. Mainly focus on the country life but also village and city life.

Gustavo Diniz 2 years ago

Expérience fantastique: It's really good to spend the day over there! We couldn't feel time passing by because it was so interesting! It's really good to understand a bit more about The Netherlands and a great place to bring the kids! Totally recommend it! The explanations about the economy situation and life condition during different periods is really helpful to bring you back in time and understand a bit what the population was experiencing back then

Expérience fantastique: Great museum...going back in time, kids experiencing the old way of washing, rinsing etc...history, beautiful gardens, funfair, great food, playgrounds, live music, travelling by old trams, people demonstrating how things were done in the old days...have to come back again!!

Expérience fantastique: We had a fantastic visit at the museum! You can ride an old fashioned tram, children can play at the playground or just sit at the cafe. Dogs are welcome too!

Expérience fantastique: Amazing experience, the museum is quite big so you need at least 3 hours. There is a tram bringing you around the museum if you don’t feel like walking. The museum really brings you back in time, the details are amazing. You can then walk to the Burgers zoo, its a 10 minute walk. We combined both locations in 1 day, a lot of walking but definitely worth it.

Expérience fantastique: This is one the best museums to visit in the Netherlands. Offering an interactive look at dutch life and giving context to today’s culture. There are windmills, shops, a train, and building installations of a variety of eras and province’s that showcase a side of the Netherlands you don’t see anywhere else. There is even a little local brewery with their own beer. It’s a must see!

Expérience fantastique: A very fun museum! We were very lucky with the amazing weather. It's a great place to peacefully walk around and learn about the old Dutch farms. They also show some old skills used back in the days. Enough eateries and places to have a drink. We were just a bit disappointed that they didn't sell big breads at the bakery, just small sweet cookies etc.

Marco van Greevenbroek 3 years ago

Expérience fantastique: If you want to know how the Dutch lived and worked in the early 1900, beautiful how they basically picked up old houses, farms, factories and rebuild them back in this museum. Loads to do for the young ones (3-12) and for the adults loads to see.

Bernard Prasetyo 3 years ago

Expérience fantastique: The perfect place for weekend gateaway for your family or couple. The place deserved so much recommendation because there is so much to see and do in here. Every displays and basically the entire museum are built with much passion and thought for detail. The museum also situationed in a really nice place with lot of tree, meadow, and river. I basically feel no stress here.

Expérience fantastique: Great outdoor museum in lovely forested setting showing off historic houses from different areas. Good educational description, also in English. Interactive areas and playgrounds for kids are available. Also nice cafés with tasty food, better than you would expect in this kind of place.

Pearl Xia 4 years ago

Expérience fantastique: A very interesting place for kids and adults. A big place with church, hospital, school, houses, restaurants and etc in the old days. A fair kids playground. And there are many programs that kids can join, too. They can learn how to make paper, candies, washing clothes. They have their own house-made beer. Frites sell in the restaurant are very delicious, a little expensive, though.
