Expérience fantastique: My kids loved the museum. You can learn a lot, you can see the development of the weaponry and the impact it produces. Impressive exhibits, every room had something special.

Expérience fantastique: Massive, go in the morning as soon as it opens to have any hope to see all of it. Most content is in English as well.

Expérience fantastique: A great location which i have visited many times. Every time there is something new to see and do.. A lot of historic aspects cone back in this castle, and it is worthwhile to actually investigate each room for the minute details which will jump out when seen. Also, bring your kids, as there is a special tour for them, which can win them a prize.. At the castle courtyard there is a nice cozy terrace where you can have a drink and a bite to eat All aspects of a castle are present, so come visit :-)

Expérience fantastique: A great museum that has so much to offer. This is not a museum that you hear people talking about it a lot. But it was full of wonderful surprises. So much to explore, learn, play and the place is so clean, organized and spacious. And all the films and guide has English language or subtitles! Even the outdoor play area is better than most of the play grounds. A super fun and education day with kids.

Expérience fantastique: Great place in corona times. Some of the exhibits are outdoors. There are playgrounds for the kids and plenty of recreation space. Definitely coming back when even if the museum is still closed.

Expérience fantastique: Nice museum especially for the kids. We spent 3 hours and could have spent 3 more hours but kids were exhausted. Maybe next time! :)

Expérience fantastique: Waow this place is great. Tons of vehicles arranged nicely inside. Many different exhibits. Very classy job, and an excellent museum. Plus I love seeing the planes up close

Expérience fantastique: Lovely museum worth spending entire day, plenty to see and do for children as well. They have upgraded all descriptions with English too, in the past was Dutch only, I can understand so much more with English explanations! At this corona period they have a small coffee bar inside which is very expensive, however right outside the building there are food trucks with much more options at reasonable/normal price.

Expérience fantastique: This is the new museum, interesting, spacious and super clean. The biggest part of the exposition logically related to the Dutch military history. The areas around the museum are good for hiking. Kids won’t be bothered there.

Expérience fantastique: As far as these war toys are necessary for protecting our countries and our nations, however strongly I hope one day we people decide not to use them to attack each other

Expérience fantastique: Great museum with huge exposition! You can spent 3 hours here easily! Definitely recommend place to visit with kids as well !

Expérience fantastique: Certainly one of the best museums in Europe, with an extensive collection spanning centuries of military items, most from the last century. "Hij of ik", a temporary expo that walks you through a bitter battle fought in the eyes of Léo, a Canadian, and Hans, a German. You'll experience the liberation of the Netherlands in the exhibition from a personal perspective. It's a must-see in the area!!

Expérience fantastique: Excellent museum for the Dutch Airforce and army. Lots of great exhibits and a fair number of tanks planes etc. Also some more in depth interviews in both English and Dutch. Highly recommended.

Expérience fantastique: Just loved everything. Really huge collection that I you really want to watch it! Expect being there for 3 to 4 hours. Because it's amazing and detailed.

Sander L (Daslicey) 4 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Very modern military. Showcasing everything what the Dutch military had and has to offer. From muskets, swords and medieval armour to modern weaponry including drones, exo skeletons and more. Has a wide showcase of tanks, attilery and fighter planes. Very interesting to visit for any age.

Expérience fantastique: Wow! This place is super modern. I came here few years back. Back then they were still expanding. But today i went and was amazed that i spent 4 maybe 5 hours in this museum. So many rooms with dutch and english explanations. So many weapons and uniforms. Great for kids 5 and up i must say. Be known that the cafe indoors is way too expensive. A normal coffee will set you back 4 euros. A small bag of popcorn 2 euros. Muffin 2.8€ This is my only negative because entry is also pricey (though its absolutely worth it) Make sure to take your time and enjoy. Plenty of places to rest your feet and take in the sight!

Expérience fantastique: We enjoyed this place a lot. It is worth the drive or the long ride to it. Free parking nearby. For a cold or sunny day is perfect, when is warm, children can play outside in the multiple playgrounds. Inside the museum is big and cosy. The different areas, the amount and the arrange of the items is impressive. The interactive area is also very nice for children. Bring your own food! There is a restaurant but the food is not much and the price is not the best.

Expérience fantastique: One of the most extensive and detailed museums I've ever been to, let alone military museums. A lot of material from tanks to ambition to planes to weaponry.

Expérience fantastique: Very interesting place to visit in weekends. I strongly advice you to come there with your children, they will be impressed, and it is never too much to have a small and very interesting history lesson. If you have doubts, you will not regret visiting this great museum.

Expérience fantastique: Fantastic museum, great layout, plenty to look at and plenty of space around the exhibits. Excellent food and drink with decent prices. Only downside is the storage area with some of the rarer items doesn't have any windows and isn't publicly accessible!

PANZER Insight 5 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Great museum and after Overloon one of the biggest military museum in the Netherlands, with a lot of rare military equipment from WW1 and WW2, like a V2 rocket, Praying Mantis tank and the only Japanese Te-Ke in Europa.

Marco Mundt 5 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Great historical place to visit! Military history from old ages until recent, located on the formally military airforce base Soesterberg. Inside great military vehicles and planes eg. Fokkers, Spitfire, but also a F15 eagle from the 32nd TFS the Wolfhounds. Outside great natural surroundings. With good weather you can have drinks on the terrace or stroll around in nature. Kids can play in old Jeeps or train the storm track. Don't forget to visit the top floor with great views. When the sky is clear you will be able to see Utrecht with it's 'dom' church. A must see and visit museum!

Ed Stekelenburg 5 years ago

Expérience fantastique: A lot of information brought to you in serveral different modern ways. Rides in army vehicles. The most thrilling was the ride in the caterpillar tracked army vehicle. We also enjoyed the demonstration of many army vehicle in a huge open air arena. Atmosphere was great, very helpful staff!

Expérience fantastique: This museum is really cool, even if you are not that much into military stuff. Their permanent story-line exhibit is the best, including lots of cool digital gadgets, but also with great info and moving stories. There's the cool old planes and helicopters downstairs, and a big hall with kids games. Great café and service, wonderfully kind staff. Don't forget to climb to the top floor tower (take the elevator to 6), and enjoy the views! If you're from/staying in Utrecht: it's a great bike trip, and you can enjoy the beaaautiful scenery around the museum. Only downside: temporary exhibitions not so great.

Expérience fantastique: Genuine collection of old weapon as well as modern armour and airfighters. Mostly updated documentary including recorded interviewes of Dutch fighter in Afganustan, a lady F16 pilot who bombed near Serbreniza, and a pilot that had to leave his plane. All other items are preserved cleaned and brightly coloured. Impressing. The visit Takes more than 3 hours and pretty much ok for kids over 10 years old

Expérience fantastique: Excellent museum all around; very well presented, provides a comprehensive overview of Dutch military history in addition to offering a very good cross section of airborne and land-warfare kit. Most Dutch post-war combat a/c are represented as well as what appears to be a fairly complete line-up of tracked and wheeled vehicles used by the Dutch army post-war alongside a comprehensive collection of artillery pieces from the late 1800s to the end of the Cold War. An impressive collection of uniforms, equipment, individual and squad support weapons rounds out the hardware side and the human element of warfare is equally well represented through personal recollections of Dutch servicemen and women. Additionally, the rambler will find plenty of opportunities to venture outside and explore the length and breadth of the now demobbed Soesterberg air base. Finally, the café is worth a visit, too, serving tasty food (try the croquettes and sausage rolls together with a Veteraan Tripel) at reasonable prices. The gift shop focuses primarily on younger visitors but also offers some interesting gems for the military historian/militaria collector (such as the excellent and weighty (1.5 kgs) volume on Dutch uniforms including experimental kit from the 1980s user trials of Flecktarn). The only word of warning, however, is that the shop will accept only MasterCard and Maestro cards while shunning Visa and Amex. Highly recommended especially if you are familiar with the museum's predecessor from back in the day when this was still an active base.
