Expérience fantastique: Fantastic museum about the history of Kampen. The staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly. For example, I was told wonderful stories about the 'creative room'. Recommended.

Expérience positive: Lovely museum but everything was in Dutch . The previous reviews made it sound like there was English translations. I came specifically for the short movie about the town and it was all in Dutch . I was very disappointed the previous English reviews didn’t mention this!!

Expérience fantastique: The museum is wonderful. Here you can see 3 in 1: art, the history of the royal family of the Netherlands and a lot of interesting things about the history of Kampen.

Expérience fantastique: The Stejelijk Museun in Kampen is a wonderful collection of artifacts and is housed in the old city hall. The town itself is is amazingly well preserved with old city gates and a charming town square. Kampen was once one of the most important members of the hanseatic league during the 12th century.

Expérience fantastique: Very cool.... It has the history of the Royal Family of the Netherlands and photographs of kings from the beginning of the family to the present king. The city of Kamin's long history also has its story with water and how dam and bridge construction has evolved. And what made kampen famous for his many industries? There is also an old model of the court's form. It is also a special part of the religions in Kambon and the places of worship of both Muslim Christians and Jews.

Expérience fantastique: Looking at paintings is something personal. There were paintings that I found very beautiful. Information also very revealing how Kampen was once an important port / trading city in the year 1100. How it was organized with a, say, night watch. Part of the museum is in the old buildings. Impressive how they look. Each city had its own measures of length and its own money, thalers. Easy to see in a solid room with an all-steel door. Nice staff also contribute. The old synagogue (a few blocks away) is also part of the museum. Turns out the outdoor society has been around for a long time. You can also enjoy walking through camps. Fortunately, many buildings have been spared from the demolition culture of the 90s.

Expérience fantastique: The municipal museum itself has a modest collection. There are, however, some beautiful pieces present, such as a real Avercamp and a Mesdag. However, the museum excels in the early modern aldermen's bench, which can still be viewed completely intact. There you step directly into history. That is the only reason why you should have visited this museum once.

Expérience fantastique: Nice tidy museum suitable for learning different aspects of Kamper history. On the 2nd floor, the aldermen's hall, there is a nice audio presentation about medieval justice.

Expérience fantastique: Nicely set up museum with nice views towards the city from the second floor and an extensive history of Kampen and the surrounding area. The aldermen's hall (above the old town hall) is also worth a look, with an impressive fireplace. Also changing exhibitions. Volunteers were especially helpful. Within walking distance of Kampen station, so also easily accessible by public transport.

Expérience fantastique: Walked breathlessly through this beautiful museum for two and a half hours. Very friendly welcome, started with a beautiful, temporary exhibition of still lifes. Second floor the history of Kampen extensively depicted, fascinating. Fortunately there are also some Avercamp, two from Hendrick and two from his cousin Barent. Zeeeeer worth a visit.

Expérience fantastique: Museum to be proud of. Permanent exhibition with beautiful 'human-sized' paintings of our royal house. Awesome. Furthermore, a lot of information about Kampen and the Hanze and Water Management. The children also really enjoyed the virtual tour.

Expérience fantastique: This is a must do when in Kampen, Great display on the history of the town, has temporary exhibits (we saw a contemporary art exhibit which was running) and then you also visit the attached original medieval house. The museum is really well done and takes about an hour so a perfect change of pace when shopping and eating in Kampen. Highly recommend

Expérience fantastique: An exciting permanent collection in beautiful housing! The Stedelijk Museum Kampen is located in the old late Gothic town hall and the neoclassical new town hall. The permanent collection covers the themes of water, religion, justice and the House of Orange. Water brought wealth and threat to Kampen. Religion brought to the city churches, monasteries and a theological university. Justice was spoken in the magnificent aldermen's hall from 1545 and all the stadholders and king (inn) and are represented in the museum with a painting. A museum that is therefore worthwhile inside and out!

Expérience fantastique: Very friendly welcome with patient explanation about what museum has to offer. Part of the temporary exhibition is housed in the nearby synagogue. It is a nice compact museum with lots of info about the history of Kampen and his battle against the water and the silting up of the river IJssel. Furthermore, a beautiful portrait gallery of the Oranges and an impressive art gallery where justice was once used. That space has been beautifully preserved.

Expérience positive: We started from the top. Water level. This could very much be a an exhibition on any Dutch Museum. Textbook testimony to Dutch courage and farmer origins. Video animations, testimonies, interactive parts, objects from several centuries, an amazing level. We spent a lot of time there. The windows to the exterior are an AMAZING idea. The other levels also surprised us. Specially the Schepenzaal. Ground level also provides a local art exhibit and a coffee bar. This is miles away from Deventer's Stedelijk Museum. Sorry Deventer ????
