Expérience fantastique: Very nice museum with nice people working there. We had some trouble finding the entrance. It's the glass elevator inside a shopping hall. You should take it to the 4th floor. There was a booklet with English translations for the current exhibition but the permanent collection didn't have that many English translations. We used Google translate to translate some of them! Beautiful collection!

Expérience fantastique: Absolute must in Cologne. Small but fine museum, which gives a top overview of the artist's work. In addition, alternating special exhibitions - well worth seeing.

Felix Sun 1 year ago

Expérience fantastique: Need elevator access to the 4th floor. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The English guide book clarifies a lot of the works.

Dieter Maretzky 1 year ago

Expérience fantastique: Uniquely successful exhibition of works by Käthe Kollwitz.

Thorsten Beck 1 year ago

Expérience fantastique: Hidden on the fourth floor is the largest collection of works by Kollwitz in Germany. We especially recommend booking a guided tour here! Not only were we given the background to Kollwitz's career and art, but we were also able to get a good impression of Käthe as a person. Thanks very much!

Expérience fantastique: it's the best museum in cologne.. such a shame it's not publicized as much as other famous museums in cologne. the exhibits were beyond amazing (Simplicissimus) and they have a variety of seasonal special events. the entrance fee is reasonable and the museum shop is wonderful too. I'm so glad I found a hidden gem in Cologne.

Expérience fantastique: Chic little museum in Cologne in a beautiful passage. Impressive permanent exhibition on the life and works of Käthe Kollwitz, plus a very interesting exhibition on the history of the former satirical magazine "Simplicissimus" - for which Käthe Kollwitz also drew. Both exhibitions are convincing if you are interested in political and emotionally intimate topics (such as dealing with war, death, family and structural problems in state and society) as well as political satire in the 20th century.

Expérience fantastique: Very nice, informative museum. It is very well laid out and the staff will explain everything you need to know. The museum is located right in the city center. Easily accessible from the Neumarkt underground station.

Expérience fantastique: An incredibly high quality museum tucked away on central Neumarkt! There are always incredibly interesting and unusual exhibitions here, which are always worthwhile and very inspiring. A little break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life at a high level!

Annette Schieren 2 years ago

Expérience fantastique: A break in Cologne is always the Käthe Kollwitz Museum. The images transport you to a different time; you have to take a little time to understand and enjoy.

Expérience fantastique: A very nice and small museum. It is located near the Neumarkt in Cologne. There are plenty of parking garages nearby. The museum can even be reached easily by S-Bahn. Stop at Neumarkt and you are only a few meters away. We were greeted by friendly staff. I was there on the occasion of the low-rise special exhibition. The images were oppressive, frightening, but also comforting and hopeful. The Käthe Kollwitz permanent exhibition in Cologne is very extensive and impressive. A visit is definitely worth it.

Expérience fantastique: Intimate little museum in the city of Cologne. A permanent exhibition with works by Käthe Kollwitz is well worth seeing, as well as changing special shows for mostly contemporary and also less well-known artists from the recent past.

Laura G 2 years ago

Expérience fantastique: The Käthe Kollowitz is such a special space—first and foremost, they use their space to spotlight other artist whose careers have shaped our current understanding of art but go overlooked in larger museums/galleries. Second, the thematic grouping of her works and the biographical snippets through the museum really connect the viewer to her artwork. If you are in Köln discovering art, I highly recommend this space. Note the entrance is via the galleria and up, find the elevator to bring you to the top floor. They have a €6 entrance fee if you aren’t a student.

Mohammad Reza Kashef 3 years ago

Expérience fantastique: It is gratifying that this museum in one of the most tolerant cities in Germany, Cologne, is the permanent host of the works of one of the greatest and free-spirited German artists, Käthe Kollwitz. The artist's themes - poverty, hunger, suffering - stand for human needs, which the savings banks also set out to overcome in the 19th century. In 1933 she was forced to leave the Prussian Academy of the Arts and removed from her position as head of the master class for graphics, as she had been one of the signatories of the urgent appeal to build a unified workers' front against National Socialism.

Expérience fantastique: Top!

Jian Du 3 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Expressionist painter and sculptor, most of his early works have a socialist atmosphere, and most of the objects depicted are the middle and lower classes of workers and peasants. Later, they gradually became anti-war, and many works are presented in mother's time. It is quite interesting that the museum is hidden in a busy small shopping mall, but there are very few people in the whole museum. It is generally worth seeing. When Mr. Lu Xun came to China, it had a certain influence on Chinese modern printmaking.

Expérience fantastique: has no much space but very very cheap(just 2€ for students)

Expérience fantastique: Nowhere is it clearer what extraordinary artist, what a great person Käthe Kollwitz was. Her empathy, her compassion for people, to whom the overwhelming social conditions of the late 18th century and the war events of the first and second world war lead to unspeakable suffering, gives her handcrafted excellent, fascinatingly expressive work an unobtrusive message that expresses every corner of our sentiment and our rationality is able to fill. Very worthwhile!

Andreas Drexl 3 years ago

Expérience fantastique: In addition to the exemplary, excellently selected ongoing exhibition by Käthe Kollwitz, which alone is worth a visit, there are always additional exhibitions, such as L'art deco at the moment. Very explicitly selected illustrative examples from the 1920s. Calm. Clean. Relaxed.

Ansgar Wolbring 3 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Largest collection of pictures by Käthe Kollwitz worldwide. Friendly museum with courteous staff on the top floor of the Neumarktpassage. At the bottom of the passage there is a café with great cakes and restaurants.

Stef Leemen 3 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Beautiful museum, the collection of which has expanded considerably in recent decades. For those who love this type of graphic work (and sculpture), this is a paradise. The setup with studies and the final result provides deeper insight into the development of Kollwitz.

Expérience fantastique: Super enjoyable Kolvitz exhibition. Not the easiest to find but a lovely space. Well worth it.

Vincent Riordan 4 years ago

Expérience fantastique: A fantastic collection of this artist who had an acute ability to capture the lives of her people and her times. Print series like "The Weavers", "The Peasants Revolt" and " War" sharply depict the lot of ordinary people, their anger and their hope for a better life. The War series reflects also her own grief at the loss of her oldest son in WWI. I didn't know anything about Käthe Kollwitz before I visited the museum. I came away with a strong sense that she was an important witness of her times, an artist with a vision both sharp and tender, and one that probably deserves to be better known outside Germany than I suspect she is.

Expérience fantastique: Great museum, great exhibition (turn of the era, a chronological presentation of life and contemporary history). Very intensive pictures and sculptures, presented with a background. Very nice, helpful and competent lady at the reception. Many thanks for the nice Sunday afternoon.

Ian Nimmo-Smith 4 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Käthe Kollwitz was a superlative craft person, particularly in printmaking, and sculpture, ruthlessly honest and compassionate about human predicaments.

Expérience fantastique: This small museum is dedicated to the deeply affecting works of Käthe Kollwitz. Kollwitz portrays love, strife and grief from a woman's perspective like no other and her message is as important today as it was in her lifetime.

Matthias Mertens 4 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Was two days ago in the museum of the special exhibition Anja Niedringhaus Bilderkriegerin. The exhibition impressed me very much and I think it is highly recommended. The 5 Eur for entry are really well laid out. Due to the abundance of moving pictures, I have renounced the works of the permanent exhibition. Can you still catch up on another occasion

Expérience fantastique: Very nice, well maintained museum in the building of Kreissparkasse. The exhibition "Berlin Realism" with works by Käthe Kollwitz to Otto Dix is highly recommended. Some exhibits are so realistic that one would like to call them "strong Tobak".

Expérience fantastique: Very nice little museum. Located in Cologne am Neumarkt, parking garages are close enough. Friendly staff, my shopping trolley was happy "parked" I was there on the occasion of the low-house special exhibition. The pictures were oppressive, scary but also comforting and hopeful. The Cologne Käthe Kollwitz permanent exhibition is very extensive and impressive

Expérience fantastique: A small but fine museum. Very nice pictures, drawings, etchings and sculptures by Käthe Kollwitz. A pleasant atmosphere. At the time when I visited the exhibition, Gerhard Marcks' exhibition 'The Sculptor Thinks' was also on display. Here too, the drawings and sculptures were carefully selected. There was also a helpful booklet. A recommended museum. Go there.

Expérience positive: The museum is owned by the bank Kreissparkasse Cologne. It holds the largest collection of the artist Käthe Kollwitz. There is a very intresting collection of sculpturs as well as pen and ink drawings. The artist lived from 1867 to 1945. ---------------------------------- My star rating legend: Excellent / Exceptional ☆☆☆☆☆ Very good / Special ☆☆☆☆ Above-Average ☆☆☆ Below-Average ☆☆ Something is wrong!? ☆ ----------------------------------

Expérience fantastique: A hidden gold museum in Cologne. Even though I didn't know much about Kollwitz, I really liked it. It's small, but it's nice because it has a quiet atmosphere. If you search for Kollwitz in the green search box, you will find a lot of information, so it will be more interesting if you study! It's very sad to see the pictures... Highly recommended!

Expérience fantastique: I feel a deep sorrow from her paintings and prints. I strongly recommend this museum to those who are interested in the reality of the first and second World Wars.
