Expérience fantastique: Such a nice little museum. The artist studio really is impressive and unexpected. Really cheap to visit also. Don’t miss it while in Madrid

Expérience fantastique: An exquisite collection of Sorolla's works and achievements. I love this Museum though I am not into art or an art lover...but I admire his works. A good place to visit for both art lovers and non art lovers.

Expérience positive: A couper le souffle ! Si.

Expérience fantastique: A nice, small museum in the heart of Madrid which took me around 1.5 hours for the entire visit.

Expérience fantastique: Wonderful museum, several floors of art, pottery, furniture easy to view and admire with no flash pictures allowed. You need to be able to manage stairs.

Expérience fantastique: Wonderful museum, off the beaten path.

Expérience fantastique: As soon as you enter, you feel like you're in a different place, quieter and nicer than usual life. First impact with gardens is astonishing; each of them designed by Sorolla himself after famous Spanish buildings. Inside, where he himself was leaving, is full of paintings and arts, exposed in respect of original house disposition. The perfect experience mixing art and daily life.

Expérience fantastique: One of my favourite painters. Beatiful house he built for his family. Good collection of his paintings, but not too many. A must visit in Madrid

Expérience fantastique: Only 3 euros entry. Really lovely. I used the information on Wikipedia to research his life while in the museum. Highly recommended

Expérience fantastique: Great corner of tranquility just off a busy street. This was the artist's home, and features a large garden (with benches), patio and two structures housing the artist's paintings and sculptures. It only costs €3 and it's worth it even just to go see the garden. The museum tells the artist's story very well, and lines up the art to match Sorolla's three main themes.

Expérience fantastique: A surprise waiting for painting lovers. Those who know Sorolla will not wait to miss it, those who do not know will be glad they visited. The museum is in the last house of this painter, born in Valencia in 1863, who has gained a wide following in the States and Europe for his characteristic luminous paintings. Without a doubt, the most illustrious representative of the Spanish impressionist movement

Expérience fantastique: I'd like to recommend this museum. Specially atención to the garden yard.

Expérience fantastique: Charming, small museum which opens with the sweetest little patio garden, with Andalucian influences, a real escape from bustling Madrid. The audioguide is well worth the small fee and the museum itself is only 3 euros. Sorolla's paintings are full of light and his home and studio the best place to see them.

Expérience fantastique: As a student the entrance was free with proof of my student ID. This museum is right on the main street and is absolutely worth a 30 min viewing! It is amazing to see all of the artists work and also the layout of the house. This museum is a must see!

Expérience fantastique: One of the best museums I have EVER visited. First of all it is in his home, turned museum. The furniture and items are mostly his. Many of the rooms are staged exactly as it was when Sorolla and his family lived there. His art is displayed in a very appealing way. Easy to view and enjoy. EACH piece is described in an interesting and informative way. I like his artwork so I am biased, but his works are really interesting. He painted his personal life, family and friends, in a completely different style than his other works. If you visit Madrid don't miss this museum.

Expérience fantastique: One of the those surprise places where you look at a painting and think I: I’ve seen that somewhere before Remarkable that it is very much the family and artist’s space combined. I went twice. Once to wander around and then, second time, for the audio tour The audio tour is not widely advertised. Get it in the gift shop to the left BEFORE entering the house. Suggestion: take your own wired earbuds / headphones This is also one of the places I labelled “another of Madrid’s secret gardens.” You can access the garden without a ticket. And worth some sitting time

Expérience fantastique: The former house of my favourite painter Joaquin Sorolla, converted in a museum, conserving it's essence. Besides the possibility to see some of his most famous paintings it gives the visitor a fantastic impression of how Sorolla lived. My favourite place is the garden.

Expérience fantastique: Nice, small museum. Free entrance. Have to register in the website to get free tickets.

Krist Miha 2 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Amazing collection. Lighting and display is not great for close-up view since there is a lot of glare when you try to study a piece from up-close. It was impossible to analyze any of Sorolla's masterfully painted faces since they are always placed too high and obscured by the glare. Make sure to arrive early and avoid the line since covid restrictions are causing limited capacity.

Expérience fantastique: The perfect art museum for "non art people"! Some of Madrid's wonderful art museums were just a little too much for us but this was a short visit, happened to be free when we went, and absolutely gorgeous. We found it helps to have all of the artist's works displayed in his own home because it lends context in a way that kept our interest throughout. 10/10 would recommend! Also, don't miss the gift shop–lots of thoughtful items in there.

Expérience fantastique: Beautiful work of art by Sorolla. The house is turned into a museum, there are lots of little details to observe here. It takes 1-1.5 hours to visit the entirety of the place and it is free on weekends.

Expérience fantastique: Amazing garden with atmosphere of Andalucia. The museum is well organized with written illustrations in numbers, with brief description in every room, in several languages. Photos are allowed without flash. Entrance fee is very cheap 3€, though we went on Sunday, which is free entrance day, but pay attention that they close earlier on Sundays ( 3 pm).Good collection of the artist paintings, and wonderful works that shows his unique drawing techniques. Not to be missed for art lovers.

Expérience fantastique: Very lovely museum, the paintings are amazing and the experience is so intimate since it’s in Sorolla’s home, which is exquisitely decorated. My favourite in Madrid.

Expérience fantastique: A small little gem of an art museum, well in the shade of Regina Sofia and Prado. It's a very cost little place with a very relaxing garden att THE first impression

Esther Koon 4 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Beautiful artworks displayed in the most intimate setting of the artist's former living place; with insights to the décor, furniture and also painting equipments that he used. Takes only an hour or so for the tour, definitely drop by if you have the time.

Expérience fantastique: A short trip to his collection and paintings(late 19C~early20C) impressionism & interesting small format (Manchas or notas de color) oil paintings. After/before visit the museum, the timeless equanimity at the garden. We went Saturday afternoon, it was free entrance.

Nacho Conde 4 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Beautiful quiet museum, one of the most underrated in Madrid. Just €3 to see the artist's incredible work and his wonderful home/studio/gardens. Guided tours available, and written guides in several languages also available in each room.

Expérience fantastique: This small museum has very warm atmosphere. We can feel the artist’s love on his family and garden. The entrance fee 3€ is worthy.

Nikolas Belalis 5 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Excellent museum!! Sorolla was a great representative of impressionism, even though he is less famous than the french painters. Apart from the paintings, which are beautiful, the building ( artist's home) is a great sight itself. The discreet decoration of the rooms and the garden make it seem really elegant.

Catherine Choy 6 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Gorgeous museum and home of Spanish impressionist painter Joaquin Sorolla. Located just outside Madrid's center, this small museum is worth a visit to learn about Sorolla's life, see a beautiful collection of his paintings, and relax in the peaceful garden area. Free admission for educators.
