Expérience fantastique: In my opinion the best museum on the island. Modern way of exhibiting from neanderthals, nelothic, Egyptian, medieval history and more. Free audio guide.

Expérience fantastique: excellent collection very well curated. Slight over emphasis on Egyptian masking some superb stone age and iron age artifacts.

Expérience fantastique: In this museum they have a lot of interesting material regarding Egypt, Rome and other Ancient civilizations. But the most relevant things are regarding Ancient Egypt. We were impressed by the good amount of interesting materials as well as the relevant figures of the Egyptology (f.e: Nefertiti). 100% recommended as one of the best museums in the world. I would suggest visiting it in different days to get a deeper insight I recommend buying the tickets online.

Expérience fantastique: This is the modern house of Nefertiti. The museum is composed over three floors+basement. There is a lot of interesting Egyptian manufacture. You can buy the ticket online and skip the queue, but the queue Management is very poor. People in queue will look at you as you are breaking some rules and personnel at the entrance do nothing to separate queues with and without tickets.

Expérience fantastique: They have an amazing collection of Egyptian art.

Expérience fantastique: Set aside 3 hrs + to take all this in . An amazing place not only for Egyptian artifacts. Lots of other items as well.

Expérience fantastique: Beautiful museum! The architecture is as impressive as the collections. And the collections are amazing. The audio tour is kind of confusing but it's still helpful.

Expérience fantastique: This new museum stands for the earliest part of collections in the museum island, which mainly collect the ancient Egypt ones. The museum island does not have as many items as the British Museum, while it keeps all the top collections of most advanced civilizations in human history to avoid distracted by other trivial stuff. Even so, I spent 5 days to finished all the six museums in Museum Island. The collections are huge enough for education purpose and enjoyment.

Expérience fantastique: Quite a few amazing artifacts and sculptures here. The bust of Nefertiti is an incredible sight, with some really cool history (check out that left eye). One of the greatest historical women who was as respected or more as her husband, a very good leader! The rest of the museum is a ton of cool things as well, from Bronze Age Gold Hats to evolution of swords and hilts it's a fantastic journey. The only critique I'd have is the audio guide is pretty sub par.

Expérience fantastique: One of the best museums in the world. The collections are amazing but wat really gets me is the magnificent building. At the same time you are in old buildings with bully holes from the war, combined with majestic new modern design of the new parts!! Avoid the cafeteria run by a nasty old bat! Get tickets in advance because you get a time slot for entry!

Expérience fantastique: The New Museum has plenty of different exhibitions. For example, there is an Egyptian exhibition on the ground floor and an exhibition about the pre-historical age on the top floor. In here you can also find the popular bust of Queen Nefertiti, although you are not allowed to make pictures inside the small room, while at the same time you can make pictures of the also very popular Berlin Gold Hat. But don’t be sad, because the room that you have to enter before you reach the actual room with the bust of Queen Nefertiti offers plenty of small statues and heads of the same Queen. My personal highlight is the beautiful stairway hall, which contains on its right side the plaster cast replicas of the Amazon battle friezes, that have been found on the remains of the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, one of the seven world wonders. Yet, although there are a few pieces from ancient Rome and Greece to be found in the museum as well, real lovers of those two ancient cultures better head to the Old Museum. The New Museum also has a short underground tunnel, which connects it with the James Simon Gallery. Just remember that the museum is entirely closed on Monday. Leaving your backpack and jacket is also not a problem, since the James Simon Gallery, in which you can also buy tickets for the New Museum, offers lockers, in which you just have to throw one Euro inside and close it with a key. Obviously, when you open the locker again, the Euro will be returned to you. We have spent a total of three hours inside the museum, together with the James Simon Gallery, and being from Berlin myself I can truly recommend a visit to you, especially if you love ancient Egypt and the pre-historical times. I have shot the pictures on 7th July 2022.

Expérience fantastique: This is a special place. The building is truly wonderful and there almost needs to be a museum about the museum; some very clever restoration has taken place. Berlin has many great museums on and around Museumsinsel, but for me, this takes top spot. I would pay to see some of the wonders inside as standalone objects - Nefertiti, for example. In more practical terms, there is a cloakroom, great cafe, loos, and you can buy a ticket for all of the museums on Museumsinsel which enables you to have a brilliant day for not very much money!

Expérience fantastique: Extensive collection dating from prehistory to modern era. The bust of Nefertiti may be the main attraction but it is not the only star exhibition in this superbly restored museum. If at all possible use the Berlin WelcomeCard with Museum Insel that lets you skip the queues.

Expérience fantastique: Great museum quite emjoy time there

Expérience fantastique: This was my favorite museum on the island and I went multiple times to see everything (3 day museum pass). Be sure to reserve your time slot online and pick up your audio tour. There’s an impressive Egyptian collection and of course the stunning statue of Nefertiti (her husbands much more damaged bust is right outside the room with hers), but also an incredible collection of early (Neolithic, Bronze Age, etc) human curiosities. You’ll easily need 6 hours to do everything but can probably race through to see the highlights in two. There is an elevator for those with accessibility issues but it’s a little tricky to find so ask a guard. When I went there was a special exhibition of the Troy treasures on loan from Athens Archeological museum included in the ticket price. If you only have time for one museum this is the one.

Expérience fantastique: It was first time, i visited such kind of museums. And… I was good, really, specifically for me( I am not really fan of museums). There were exhibitions of Ancient Egypt, Rome and, also stone Age(and other ancient ages). I really advice you to visit it, but I have one tip for you: Take at least 5-6 hours, if you want to see all exhibits

Ania W 1 year ago

Expérience fantastique: Great museum with many incredible pieces. Especially it’s worth to see Berlin hat and Nefertiti. Probably one of the most interesting museums on Museum Island

Sinziana Mazilu 1 year ago

Expérience fantastique: We went there only for the bust of Nefertiti. It pays off. The best thing to do is to take a Museum island ticket valid for 1 day, 4 museums. It makes sense, as if one visits at least two (although it is doable 4), it is cheaper than paying the ticket for each.

Expérience fantastique: Big variety of egyptian and middle eastern historical artifacts. It was definitely worth it!

Expérience fantastique: Reserve your tickets online and also the time slots before going. You can take your masks off there and leave your bag outside in the locker. No water allowed inside and there is wc in the museum. Very nice and highly recommended

Expérience fantastique: This is a must visit place when in Berlin. It brings you back into history, culture and many more from the ancient Egypt to the Roman Empire and many more. Never forget to make a booking online and make sure you dedicate at least half a day to really enjoy this magnific place. You will live inside history

Kevin Schwarz 1 year ago

Expérience fantastique: Huge museum with 4 floors and thousands of displayed itens. The majority is from ancient Egypt, but there is also Roman and a specific part with itens from over 20000 years. Definitely worth the visit, you can spend 3-4 hours there and not be tired with all the itens. Also, the Nerfertiti bust is beautiful, and worth the visit by itself (unfortunally you can't take pictures of it).

Expérience fantastique: Amazing experience, totally worth the price! Ancient Egypt enthusiasts will be extremely pleased by the display in this museum. Especially, if you have a soft spot for Akhenaton and Nefertiti.

Expérience fantastique: I liked the way the Egyptian section is organised by theme. The audio guide was informative

MARTHA ZACHARIADOU 2 years ago

Expérience fantastique: What an experience! The exhibits are countless and positioned in a serial way so that you don't miss anything. Audioguides are available for free. It takes 1,5 to 2 hours to see everything without rushing.

Expérience fantastique: One of my favourite museum on a Museum Island. There are very beautiful and various exhibits. There are collections of Egyptian art and antique collections. There you can find a statue of Nefertiti, sarcophagus, statues, ancient wall drawings and many other things. Museum is quite big, so plan a bit of time for it. It is very difficult to manage all museums from museum island in one day.

Science's Bedroom 2 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Yeah, as you guessed - translated in English, it means "New Museum". But, it isn't as 'new' as you think. Built on behalf of King Friedrich Wilhelm IV between 1843 and 1855 in the classicism and neo-renaissance style, it is regarded as the main work of Friedrich August Stüler. It is the most visited museum in the Museumsinsel, closely followed by the Pergamon Museum. After the destruction in the Second World War and the decline in the GDR era, it was restored in a simplified form by David Chipperfield in 1999–2009 . It is currently home to the Egyptian Museum and the Papyrus Collection , the Museum of Prehistory and Early History and part of the Antique Collection. It's main attraction? The Bust of Nefertiti, which we've all seen in our history books - at least once in our lives, which was likely manufactured between 1353 and 1336 BCE and was later excavated by the German Orient Society in 1912. Photography or Videography inside the hall housing the bust, is strictly prohibited and even activating any device emitting EM waves near it, is forbidden. So, I managed to take some shots from far away but the sheer elegance of the statue can stun anyone. :)

Expérience fantastique: Absolutely worth a visit. It is recommended to have at lest 3 hours to properly enjoy this museum and one can easily spans a whole day here. If one is interested in history of all sorts than this museum I definitely for you.

Marcus Hurley 2 years ago

Expérience fantastique: The museum tickets need to be prebooked and for a weekend you certainly need to book in advance. If you're organised there is the option of a ticket to cover all the museums on Museum Island over 1 or 3 days I think. The Neues museum was fantastic, almost as good as the British Museum with a huge amount of Egyptian and classical civilization artifacts and an eclectic mix of Celtic, Bronze Age, Merovingian and assorted medieval stuff, mixed in with prehistoric items, on the top floor. There were an excessive number of guards, about one to every eight visitors, which felt a bit strange. There was plenty of information in English and the obligatory gift shop too. We spent around 2 hours inside although by the top floor we were on information overload. Entrance was €12.

Tomasz Truszkowski 2 years ago

Expérience fantastique: I spent there about 2 hours, but you can easily do more. It has four floors full of exhibits, but it is also interiors that are impresive. Nefretiti is definitely worth seeing. It was a close look on the past for me. Suggest taking a map, because navigation is hard at the start.

Lina Jardaneh (Lina Jardaneh) 2 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Stunning museum, it should named as Ancient Egyptian museum, because most of the exhibitions were Egyptian’s. Their are “The Queen Nefertiti’s statues” under tight security, beside many many statues brought from Egypt about 3500 pieces. Also their are some from Greek @ Germany.

Olcayto Cengiz 2 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Way bigger than you can expect. Quite a big collection of heavily focused on Egypt and BC era. The famous Nefertiti is at the second floor - no photos on that area. So many tombs, so less mummies -if your kid is expecting to see some, like mine, he/she can get upset a bit. Almost all informations about exhibited artifacts are written in German so you can seriously consider to pick a translator at the entrance.

Expérience fantastique: If you're a fan of Egyptian art and culture, this is a must. Extensive collections in an organized space. For me the stars were Nefertiti and the Berlin Golden Hat. They include an audio guide.

David Tuffley 2 years ago

Expérience fantastique: What an interesting and inspiring place this is - the building itself is a beautiful neo-classical structure, damaged during WW2 and restored back to its original state. The exhibits are many and varied, covering a broad range of historical periods and styles. I could have spent three full days exploring this museum, there is so much there.

Pierluigi Tomasicchio 2 years ago

Expérience fantastique: The ticket is paid by Nefertiti chest that is amazing and a must to see. The egiptian part is really interesting and with good variety while the other exibits a bit less.

Ronald Degenaers 2 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Wonderful museum. And such great architecture that combines a kaputt museum with after war rebuilding. Collection is also great, especially the Egyptian one. It’s also nice to see a museum that displays differently than in the old days, but the problem with today’s technology is that if fails from time to time and then the TV monitor is dark .

Nima Maloumi 3 years ago

Expérience fantastique: One of the most amazing museums I’ve been to, the most popular pieces are Nefertity and Berlin Gold Hat, which are wonderful in detailes, but so many pieces from Egypt, if you are interested in History this place is recommended, there is audio guide available and its very easy to use and useful.

F Z 3 years ago

Expérience fantastique: We spent several hours here, as we underestimated how long it would take us to cover all four floors. Main subjects at the time were: ancient Egypt, the Romans, Greek and the Germanic people. Overall very interesting. There is a free wardrobe or for 1€ (you'll get the money back afterwards) you can take a locker. There is also a cafe within the museum as well as restrooms. The staff was friendly and helpful, except one rather harshly admonished my 86 year old granny to cover her nose, when she briefly lifted her mask to breath...(with no other guests around her btw, it was just us in that room and even the mentioned staff member was about 3m away from her).

Sarah Wright 3 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Great museum! Huge collection of primarily ancient Egyptian artifacts, including the iconic bust of Nefertiti, which is heavily monitored by security. The museum itself is architecturally interesting— many traces of damage from severe shelling during WWII. Def worth a couple hours if you’re interested in Egyptology.

Sebastian Märker 4 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Absolutely loved this place. Beautifully put together. Really nice selection, the best of the best for Egyptian artefacts. My highlight of course the bust of Nofretete. Very impressive when you come through the little entry and suddenly see this massive foyer and giant staircase to the upper floors of the museum. Stunning

Ena Haskovic 4 years ago

Expérience fantastique: I loved the museum and its setup. Most of museum shows Egyptian culture and it’s fascinating! We were there on Monday morning so it wasn’t crowded at all. Once you pay entrance, you can leave your clothes inside for free and take audio guide for free. The thing I resent is that it wasn’t written anywhere about the free audio guide, and the staff wasn’t offering on their own. Good thing was we asked. Taking photos of Nefertiti is not allowed.

Expérience fantastique: A lovely museum with the perfect collection size to really enjoy and not get too overwhelmed. Stop for a while to examine the bad reliefs and discover. Look up! The ceilings are a treat too

Gustavo Molitor Porcides 4 years ago

Expérience fantastique: This is such an amazing place that it is hard to describe why it is amazing. Maybe because of the HUGE collection of items from Egyptians, Romans, Greeks, Vikings, Assyrians, and many others. Maybe because it is so big that you easily get lost in one of it's four floors. Or maybe just because the museum looks so good, with very well decorated rooms. I recommend this to everyone who wants to get a glimpse on the history of mankind, from a few thousand years BC to a few hundred years ago. And if you are really into Ancient Egypt you should not skip this place if you visit Berlin.
