Expérience fantastique: Way, way too much to see and absorb in one visit. Great exhibits, informative 4-5 minute videos which help interpret the collection. & everything is in English, too. We will return.

Expérience fantastique: This is a great museum. There's tons to see - I wish I would have been able to come back for a second day - and stuff that is likely of interest to anybody who would agree to enter an archaeological museum. Displays of artefacts, explanatory texts, interesting pictures, video exhibits, touch exhibits, it has it all. Would definitely recommend. Especially the video about ancient firemaking techniques was amazing.

Expérience fantastique: For me, one of the best museums in Madrid. Beautifully done and laid out. Stunning exhibits. Friendly staff. Good for wheelchairs. Lots of toilets and a nice shop..

Expérience fantastique: It s quite hard to describe the feeling you get when seeing so much history in one place. You feel rather small. The collections and the way they are presented and thouroughly explained is overwhelming, even including short movies for a better understanding. The pieces belong to all eras and the tour is so well thought, leading you from the history of mankind to the recent history. And all this for 3 euros. Hats off!

Expérience fantastique: Remarkable museum, free on weekend. Better start this place from top floor because more exciting items are up there.

Expérience fantastique: Very impressed with exhibits, almost all with English notes. Well organised from pre history onwards, very informative. Unfortunately 1 floor was closed when I went in mid Feb. After visit may want to take short straight walk to park del retiro, large with cafe by entrance and nearby metro station

Expérience fantastique: Beautiful building well laid out. I spent an hour and only saw about 20% of the permanent exhibits. Interesting sections on Spanish prehistory and big section on the Roman periods.

Expérience fantastique: Had the most amazing time at the museum. Stunning collection and building.

Expérience fantastique: The most underrated museum in Madrid. Tickets are 3€ and if you're a student under 25 you get in for free. Their exhibition is beautiful and very carefully curated. I've never had to wait to get in. They have prehistoric tools, jewels, etc from all Spanish cultures as well as Roman, Greek, Arab and Egyptian.

Expérience fantastique: MAN archeological museum is an inexpensive (€3) hidden gem for those interested in cultural history of Egypt, Greece, Rome, and Spain. The exhibits are well laid out with Spanish and English translations and spaces for contemplation. It has air conditioning and Wi-Fi. Café was closed after Covid-19 and coin exhibit was closed as of July 2022.

Expérience fantastique: The entry fee is only 3 Euro, but there is so much to see in the museum. Lots of prehistoric artifacts in the region. One of the must see in Madrid.

Expérience fantastique: The National Archaeological Museum is located on Serrano Street, sharing the building with the National Library of Spain. The great new rooms, after its reopening in 2014, make the visit very fluid and allows you to discover all its incredible pieces. The National Archaeological Museum is located on Serrano Street, sharing the building with the National Library of Spain. The great new rooms, after its reopening in 2014, make the visit very fluid and allows you to discover all its incredible pieces. Its current collection is based on pieces from the Iberian Peninsula, from Prehistory to the Early Modern Age. It also has different collections from outside Spain, especially from Ancient Greece. The most numerous set is formed by the Greek vases, that include from the Mycenaean period to Hellenistic epoch (XVI to III centuries B.C.), and that constitutes one of the best collections of this type existing in Europe. These include pieces from mainland Greece, Ionia, Magna Graecia and Sicily. General admission 3€ and free for seniors over 65. Free on Saturdays from 14:00 and Sunday mornings. Compared to most European museums is somewhat surprising. It also has free lectures, music concerts, as well as other activities that allow you to enjoy and interact with a very lively museum. A great cultural space for the enjoyment of adults and children. Hispano-Visigoth Kingdom - Medieval Antiquities. Pair of aquiliform fibulae, made with the "cloisonnée" technique. Bronze, glass and gold. 501- 533 (First third S.VI).

Expérience fantastique: The museum highlights the archeological findings of Spain. They have impressive archeological finds, ranging from Spain’s pre-Roman Iberian heritage to Roman era statues and mosaics to Spain’s Islamic heritage. It covers all of Spain’s major historical eras. The Lady of Baz from its Iberian past to large Roman statues all the way to its former Islamic past shows how extensive and diverse Spain’s history is.

Expérience fantastique: I loved this museum. It’s incredibly atmospheric, beautifully designed with a stunning collection of Spanish artefacts. The architecture and music as well as quiet spacious galleries are very special. 90% of the collection is Spanish - fantastic - v taking from other cultures. I learnt so much about the rich artistic pre history of Spain which is so different to UK prehistory. And the different cults across the balearics were fascinating. The Roman mosaic room is particularly awe inspiring. The highlight of my trip. A must for anyone interested in pre historic art or archaeology.

The interior looks very modern and nice; it is well organized, well designed and has a variety of exhibits (rocks, coins, things from different cultures). I recommend you this one in Madrid

Expérience fantastique: I loved it! I think it was only €3 entry. I'm so glad I went.

Expérience fantastique: Wow this place is huge. Even with one of the floors under renovation it took around four hours to complete, maybe longer. No complaints though. It was fascinating. Mummies, Sarcophagus, some wonderful mosaic artwork, some as bit as an entire wall. This place did not disappoint. I plan to go back once the floor that was being renovated is done because the other 3 floors were crazy awesome!

Expérience fantastique: Great exhibits, the temporary one with Dacians and Romans is really impressive, and so are the neolithic and iron age ones. You need several hours for a decent visit. The top floor exhibit was closed, unfortunately (I think it was the Egyptian exhibit)

Expérience fantastique: Very nice museum, free on Saturdays after 14:00. A bit less than half of the museum was closed "due to covid" so if you want to see a specific collection make sure to check on their website first to see if it is open or not. Cloakrooms are temporarily closed and inside the museum the temperature is a bit hot.

Expérience fantastique: The Museo Arqueologico Museum ( Or MAN) is a Phenomenal Museum! Today was our last day in Madrid, so we had to decide which activity we wanted to do the most. The museum currently has an exhibition on Romania , and my husband is Romanian, so we chose to go. I am so thrilled about this decision, because this museum is incredible. Admission was FREE, and we spent 4 hours there. Photography is allowed. There is a gift store that is open, but the cafe is currently closed. The exhibits are so well done, with a lot of interactive short films. There are three floors in addition to the basement. The museum provides a fascinating history of Pre-historic Time Period, Late Antiquity, The Nile- Egypt and Nubia, Roman Hispania and much more! The temporary exhibit of Romanian Treasures runs through February, 2022 and covers the history of Romania for more than 1000 years.

Expérience fantastique: The National Archaeological Museum, AKA Museo Arqueológico Nacional (MAN), is a great place to discover the history of Spain. The museum offers wings full of Egyptian, Greek, Roman, and Arab art and artifacts. It's a very popular museum, especially that it allows people in for free all summer long. Just remember to get your free ticket online before you go.

Expérience fantastique: I thought it was stunning. Excellent overview of the archaeology of Spain from the first humans to the middle ages. Plus the bonus of good Egyptian and Greek sections. Disappointed that some sections, particularly the Altamira cave reproduction are closed due to covid, but that's life. Very good information, in English and Spanish. Excellent little shop. And it's free till the end of September! I spent over two hours here, and that was with very cursory looks at the Greeks and Egyptians.

Expérience fantastique: Very interesting museum to visit. Only cost €3 Euros to enter. If you're student it's free to enter the museum. They have lockers which is very convenient so you don't have to carry anything while you enjoy the museum.

Expérience fantastique: I enjoyed this museum very much with my 8 and 10 year old boys who love ancient history. We went twice spending just about two-three hours each time. Adults are 3 euros and kids under 18 are free. There is quite a bit in English which made it easier for us to understand. There are also phones apps that can tour you through the museum. I particularly liked the fact that there are quite a few people keeping an eye on the displays, but they don’t make you feel like you are constantly on surveillance. We visited two other museums in the same area that made us uncomfortable because they were practically breathing down your neck. My boys are young but they understand the rules of museums.

Expérience fantastique: An impressive museum, pretty big and a easy way to visit it through the rooms, the map is also really useful. Took photos of almost all of the highlighted art pieces. I went on a Tuesday so it was totally empty and had total calm to enjoy it. Probably 3 hours if you enjoy it deeply. Tons of history about Spain in all the years before the civil war and also some information about the Nile river, egipcios and the greeks.

Expérience fantastique: Well-curated into clear periods. Easily a whole afternoon adventure. Note: Free entry on Saturdays from 14:30 and Sundays (09:30-15:00). Visited Oct 2019 Attached many pics

Expérience fantastique: Who loves museums?! Well, you’re gonna adore this one! This is truly a lovely museum. Enjoyed learning about the history of Madrid. Beautiful artifacts nicely displayed. Clean bathrooms. Good size lockers. You need a Euro coin (that you get back) for the lockers. I don’t recall if it is always free or if I went during the free time. A really nice way to escapee the cold, heat, rain or snow. :)

Expérience fantastique: Very large collection, it'll take you hours to really check everything out. Loved it. If you don't speak Spanish thet have almost every exhibit's description translated to at least two languages, and you can get yourself an audio guide. It usually closes at 8pm on weekdays and on Saturdays it's free :)

Expérience fantastique: One of the most relevant museums in Madrid. The different rooms showcase an impressive variety of archeological stuff that has been recovered across the country. From Paleolithic to recent centuries the exhibition is well organised and enjoyable. The building has gone through recent restoration, so it makes the place more special than ever.

Expérience fantastique: This museum is .... AMAZING! It has such an a wonderful and vast collection of Greek, Roman and Egyptian artefacts (plus others) structured in a way which gives a nice flow to the exhibition over several levels. In the middle of the holiday season, I arrived at opening time and was the only one at the museum for about half an hour. You need at least 3 hours to see the entire collection without going into huge detail. Friendly staff and nice to see a lot of exhibits so close and replicas for hands on experience to be able to better empathise

Expérience fantastique: A world-class archaeological museum. I most enjoyed studying the Greek and Roman eras of the Iberian peninsula. This was a period I knew nothing about and, sadly, it was the Hollywood film Gladiator, whose protagonist was from Iberia that I recalled as I studied these artifacts. A beautiful building as well, whose two guardians have stuck in my memory ever sense.

Cory Jones 4 years ago

Expérience fantastique: What an excellent museum and a hidden gem in plain sight. For 3€ you can spend an entire day wondering through the history of Spain. With Spain's rich cultural history the volume of material can be overwhelming so you are best to pick an era or two and give them your full attention versus trying to cram the entire 4 million years of history into one day. Outside the museum there is a reproduction of the cave paintings at Altamira.

Humberto Baptista 6 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Beautiful museum, does a significant effort in shedding light in some mysterious periods of human history. Notably before the romans in the Iberian peninsula. The collection is varied and well displayed. Good temporary exhibits too.
