Expérience fantastique: One of the best museums ever. Collection of super high quality paintings of international masters from 13th to 18th century. Quiet a few Rembrandts and two Vermeers.

Expérience fantastique: An outstanding collection of paintings with many highlights. Almost too much to take in for an art-lover.

Expérience fantastique: One of those few European galleries which feature a substantial collection of high quality paintings, spanning many centuries (but not modern art, go to next door Neue Kunsthalle for that), assembled in the 19th century. If you visit Berlin and you are interested in art, this gallery is a 'must'. They also feature small but well-curated thematic exhibitions, currently one centered around 30+ works by Donatello (fall 2022), some of which have never travelled to other locations before.

Expérience fantastique: The Painting Gallery has a rich number of valuable collections. My friend and I spent 4 hours there and still couldn't finish the round tour. Some paintings only have German descriptions, so renting an audio guide is very helpful

Expérience fantastique: Superb !!! ❤️‍❤️‍❤️‍❤️‍ For those who love painting (German, Dutch, Italian) from the XIV to the XVII century it is a must

Claudia Beindorf 1 year ago

Expérience fantastique: Wonderful place, even if the modernist outside is misleading. Great light, especially in the special exhibitions. This time it was Donatello. A place I visit regularly. 1st Sunday of the month is free entrance (but you need to get a ticket)

Expérience positive: Visited here with museum pass. A lot of 1300-1500‘s pieces, which would not be that much tempting unless you‘re deeply religious or into history. Still, some flanders paintings the gallery offer are pretty enjoyable.

Expérience fantastique: Worth to seeing. A lot of famous paintings. A pity that in day of our visit part of exhibition rooms was closed due construction new temporary exposition (especially Spanish paintings). Maybe next time... As the others Berlin Museums with the ticket we get audioguide but only in German, English and Italian.

Expérience fantastique: Very nice museum, It contains a lot of paintings, almost all kinds of art

Expérience positive: Great place for art lovers and lovers of renaissance art and oil paintings. Students get half price off. If not a student, I am unsure whether this is a gallery worth visiting to pay full price for unless you are a true art enthusiast.

Expérience fantastique: I was lucky enough to visit many museums and galleries in Europe, so I can say that the collection of paintings presented here is very good. Especially, here are collected so many stars of the Renaissance, both Italian and Northern, that allows you to immerse yourself in the painting, aesthetics, culture and philosophy of that time. I think that all art lovers will be satisfied by visiting this gallery.

Expérience fantastique: Can I do this…? (Don’t report me)

Jorge Luna 1 year ago

Expérience fantastique: Excelent collection of master pieces, so big that you need more than one day for all of them.

Shane Grant 1 year ago

Expérience fantastique: Wonderful collection, was in a bit of disarray as they are installing a new lighting system, so some rooms were closed and others empty. Still what was there was exceptional. Will be back.

Expérience fantastique: Gorgeous collection, and I loved seeing Frans Hals' "Malle Babbe"

Expérience fantastique: Don’t forget to take the audio guidance. Highly recommended for everyone who enjoys art. Couldn’t finish it in three hours so I will definitely come back.

Expérience fantastique: One of the most beautiful galleries I have seen so far seen in Berlin. A very interesting mix of the Renessance and Baroque Artists. At the moment in Dialog with David Hockney. An Esthetic Feast. I strongly recommend.

Expérience positive: It is a really nice place to visit. However when purchasing the tickets the clerk doesn’t tel you what mask you wear. Upon entering we had to change our masks twice because they wouldn’t accept other types of masks even though they were the same they themselves were using.

Expérience positive: A fine museum, with many important painters like Caravaggio, Rafael, Durer, Bruegel, van Dyck. Themes were repetitive due to the periods - mostly biblical paintings. The Flemish area instead give a throw back to the daily life of 17-18 century.

Expérience fantastique: If you love pictures - go here :)

Science's Bedroom 2 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Completed in 1998 (though the collection first exhibited back in the 19th century) and a part of the popular "Kulturforum", the "Gemäldegalerie" or "Paintings Gallery" (if translated to English) houses European art collections between the 13th and 18th centuries. It has the largest collection fo Dutch artworks in the world as well as exhibits artworks by maestros of their era, like Rembrandt, Raphael, Botticelli, Dürer and Bellucci. I was overwhelmed at the Gallery's collection, to be honest. It has more than 3,500 paintings and needless to say, a man can faint half the way (I almost did).

Expérience fantastique: The Gallery is always worth a visit - between wonderful and topical guided tours and informative signs, the well-curated collection is a sight to behold. You'll find mind-blowing pieces from the heights of sacral medieval art to the budding humanism of the Renaissance. The current special exhibition of late gothic art is multifaceted, expansive, immersive and more than worth a visit. Should you read this in the distant future, after the special exhibition has ended - know that this museum has a history of excellence and is impressive even in its regular state.

Expérience fantastique: A place where the Christianity and mythology, atheism and religion are mixed. A good place to know the period between 1400-1900 last century.

Jyrki Matero 3 years ago

Expérience fantastique: This is the one art museum to visit in Berlin. Exhaustive collection of high quality paintings of famous artists. Reserve a long time toview them all. Lots of Biblical paintings which may become tiresome, if so just walk past to find the gems.

Expérience fantastique: For only 5€ (student ticket) we saw alot. Everything from Durer to Boticelli. The paintings were nice and the museum building really amazed us with it s simplicity, functionality and use of light and textures. It was a lovely experience. Sadly, the bookshop doesnt have many english books and albums. One of the best galleries in Berlin

Expérience fantastique: Outstanding collection of European painting, not nearly as well known as it should be. There is something from every school and period, and many sublime masterpieces.

Matthias Arden 3 years ago

Expérience fantastique: The Gemäldegalerie prides itself on its scientific methodology in collecting and displaying art. Each room can be taken in as a single statement about one to five artists in a certain period or following a certain style. The German collection is the finest and most comprehensive in the world, rivalled only by Vienna and Munich, and the Early Netherlandish and Italian collections also exceptionally comprehensive. The holdings of Spanish, French and British art are much smaller. Especially notable rooms include the octagonal Rembrandt room and a room containing five different Madonnas by Raphael. Definitely recommended for art enthusiasts.

Expérience fantastique: Amazing museum! Really huge though, we spent 6 hours. Lockers are free. So are audio guiding systems. Really interesting artworks. It's a bit chilly inside. Cafeteria is a bit expensive but nice. Really cool souvenir shop inside.

Filip Ruxandra 4 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Amazing! Loved it! Definitely recommend!! I spent here 5 hours and it was not enough, I didn’t have time to check all the paintings and listen to all the audios. Masterpieces everywhere: Ruben, Rembrandt, Vermeer, Botticelli, and so many others. The audio guide was essential for me to understand the symbols and learn the stories behind the paintings. Very beautiful!! I entered with a 3 day museum pass and I didn’t pay for anything. Leave your stuff at the locker, it is free and you can focus on enjoying your visit.

Expérience fantastique: Definitely one of the best collection of Reinassance fine art in the world. I was pleasantly surprised to see masterpieces from Giotto to Rembrandt to Bruegel, Cranach, Botticelli, Caravaggio, Bronzino to name just a few! Consider at least three hours and remember masterpieces are equally spread throughout the gallery from the beginning to the end. Definitely worth a visit (or a couple of visits) if you are a fine art lover!

Expérience fantastique: Overwhelming experience with great art. When you like the Dutch painters of the 17th century this museum is an absolute must! Frans Hals, Rembrandt, van Goyen, Ruysdaal etc. The list of Dutch masters in the collection is so impressive. The 2 Vermeers are on loan in Tokyo till January 2019. Free access for FEG members.

Expérience fantastique: An enormous art gallery in the finest part of Berlin with masterpieces of Dürer, Canaletto, Rubens, Caravaggio and others. Every art enthusiast should plan the visit here and it can easily takes a whole day to see the pernanent exhibition. Audioguide is free of charge and the staff is incredibly helpful. Note though that the coffeeshop/restaurant inside the gallery does not accept credit cards ...

Expérience fantastique: A visit to Betlin is incomplete without getting acquainted or revisiting the Gemãldegaletie. Be ready to be aghast recognizing masterpieces in every room. The staff is exceedingly helpful.

Expérience fantastique: Truly beautiful and so much to see. The building is like a labirinth. If you're an art lover, especially paintings then this will be great to see.

Expérience fantastique: We came to Gemäldegalerie for the Mantegna versus Bellini exposition. It was absolutely great, there are very famous masterworks to see. The exposition will stay until June 30.

Antonio Iaffaldano 4 years ago

Expérience fantastique: One of the best galleries if you're into old german (and in some measure dutch and flemish) masters. 2, or better 3 hours for a thorough visit. The central gallery is a quick primer on european art history done through texts (ger/eng) e some highlights from the collection, which I think is a nice touch.

Expérience fantastique: I'll never forget seeing the treasures in this museum. I'm not sure which is my favorite, but I did love Caravaggio's Angel with Black Wings. Give yourself time, you'll be glad you wandered through all of it!

Vicente Quintero 5 years ago

Expérience fantastique: An excellent museum. I think it is a bit underrated. I just died when I was in front of Caravaggio's paintings!
