Unholy Necromancer 2 months ago

Adolfo “The Grumpy” Torres 3 months ago

Expérience fantastique: Espectacular... ???????????? Esl castillo negro. Fui a visitarlo por la boda de un familiar. La adaptación e iluminación quedó muy bonita. El lugar impone mucho por esa estructura que se levanta en la noche.

Expérience fantastique: Beautiful place, massive collection of mesoamerican stuff!

Expérience fantastique: Amazing museum! Gives a real sense of pre Columbian architecture, was the perfect way to house Diego's collection of pre Columbian artefacts. Museum is seriously under rated.

Expérience fantastique: The museum is truly amazing! The collection of artifacts is none like a have previously seen in other museums. Unfortunately we weren't able to see the gardens as there was a private event the next day and they were setting everything up. But I do want to return. The gist shop has quite a few great pieces at reasonable prices. We arrived at opening time and has the museum to ourselves.

Expérience fantastique: Such a great museum! Amazing combination of indoor and outdoor spaces. Relaxing and interesting and lots of Aztec art. Some Diego murals too. It's a weird combination of art but somehow it works really well.

Expérience fantastique: January 2022 I’m impressed with this museum. So much to see and know about Diego Rivera. The building is strict on how people view each floors and rooms. Just an amazing wealth of artifacts collected in this one place. The museum is designed to capture the beauty of what is displayed. Definitely, travelers should include this in their itinerary........ Have a nice day.......

Expérience fantastique: There is a free shuttle from Frida’s museum. The admission is also free if you have been to Frida’s museum. I really love the overall design of this museum. Very natural and spiritual. Full of mexicayotl influence. Also, it’s not crowded, so one can always feel completely immersed into the cultural experience. I wish I could come back again, only I couldn’t. This is our memory.

Expérience fantastique: One of the best exhibitions I've ever been to. Absolute stand out for Mexico city There's an amazing little hole in the wall birria restaurant just a few minutes walk to the left out of museum. Super cheap and so worth a visit

Expérience fantastique: Well worth the trip to this museum. The architecture is breathtaking, built completely with volcanic rock. The Diego Rivera sketches are mesmerizing, and the museum staff is knowledgeable and explains every detail. Thanks to Melissa who explained the whole history behind one of the sketches!!!

Expérience positive: Entry is free with purchase of ticket for museo Frida Kahlo (la casa azul). The best part about this museum is the outdoor view from the top floor.

Expérience fantastique: My friend suggested we go to this museum, and I'm glad we did, even though it was a bit out of the city center. The architecture, made from black volcanic stone, creates an underworld vibe. Various artworks adorn the ceilings and there are tons of artifacts in every room. You can't miss the balcony view of the area. Also, you will have to pay extra (60 pesos) if you want to take photos inside. Definitely worth a trip!

Expérience fantastique: The building alone is something to admire. All the sculptures within have great historical value and artistic meaning. Multiple levels so lots of stuff to see. Even for the average not-so-art-inclined person like myself this is a great place! Will highly recommend. Prices are very decent and affordable.

Angel Aviles 2 years ago

Expérience fantastique: The architecture alone is a work of art. As you walk through there’s the feeling of being a part of something mystical and ancient. The placement of certain pieces creates the feeling of intimacy. Climbing up each level until yields something new. The massive room with Diego Rivera’s panels is spectacular. We did this the same day as we toured Coyoacán and it was worth the trip for sure.

Kevin Guyer 2 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Fascinating museum in Coyoacán, conceived by Diego Rivera and built after his death in 1964 by architect Juan O'Gorman (who also built the Kahlo/Rivera studios in nearby San Angel) to house Rivera's extensive pre-Hispanic collection of artifacts. It's a hulking structure made out of the local black volcanic stone and designed in the style of a pyramid with some Art Deco thrown in. Don't miss the roof terrace!

Aisha Mohyuddin 2 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Such a beautiful and unique space. We were lucky enough to catch a tour that took us through the outside areas behind the house and see the art installations and learn some more about the place. Highly recommend.

Expérience fantastique: Learnt a lot about Diego and his work. The architecture of museum itself is class of its own. Very huge collection and excellent work of Diego on display.

Expérience fantastique: Mayan and Aztec archeological figurines in a pyramid like structure inspired by Diego Rivera. His art work sketches are prominently exhibited in a main room

Todd Webster 2 years ago

Expérience fantastique: The biggest surprise of my trip was the Anahuacalli Museum. It is a building designed for Diego Rivera's pre-Columbian art collection by Frank Lloyd Wright with directio of Rivera in the 1940's but not completed until 1964. The building is based on pyramids and built of local volcanic rock. The collection left me speechless. I thi k it was even better than the Museo Nacional de Antropología . I have to say if you are looking for pre-Columbian art or love architecture. You must come to this museum. I'm still in awe of it.

Expérience fantastique: Amazing. Diego preserved such a large collection on native sculptures. It's very impressive.

Expérience fantastique: Lovely museum, the building itself is such a exciting place and the architecture is amazing. The collection and art in the museum as well as the botanical garden are such a joy.

Expérience fantastique: Diego Riveras museum, which he erected in honor of his ancestors, with a vast collection of mayan relics, and amazing mosaics along the ceilings made by Diego him self. If you haven't been there go. Heads up, if you visit fridah kahlo's museum you will receive a free voucher which gives you access to Diegos museum. Amazing deal right.

Mihay Gonzalez 3 years ago

Expérience fantastique: I just going to say "if you love Mesoamerican pre-Hispanic archaeology do yourself a favor and visit this museum". Mostly pieces from the extensive private collection of Diego Rivera and as a bonus some sketches of their famous murals.

José Carlos G. 3 years ago

Expérience fantastique: If possible I would add 10 stars review on this place. The building itself is a majestic and imposing work of art inspired by pre-Hispanic art, built with volcanic stone, mosaics on the high ceilings and a terrace that gives an incredible view of the surroundings. The total collection of original pre-Hispanic pieces that the world-famous painter Diego Rivera acquired during his lifetime is around 5,000, with 2,000 on display. It features also original art from Rivera's mural process in an illuminated gallery with large windows. The entrance is quite accessible, it has parking, bathrooms, cafeteria and souvenir shop. You can buy bus access and tickets to this museum and the Frida Kahlo Museum to visit the same day. An indispensable location if you visit Mexico City to have an approach to Mesoamerican cultures. It is in South of Mexico City, 20 minutes driving from Coyoacan main square

Samuele Xompero 3 years ago

Expérience fantastique: If you are interested in pre hispanic plastic art, this is the place. Pay the 30 pesos for the photo at the entrance, you are gonna take a lot of pictures inside.

Expérience fantastique: Really enjoyed the the tour definitely recommend to visit. Our guide was very informative and explained everything in great detail. Enjoyed all the different culture artifacts in display.

Expérience fantastique: I thought this museum was much more enjoyable that the museum of anthropology. The collection here felt very close and easy to admire. The signs in the rooms were informative. Take an hour and come here if you're trying to figure out something to do with a time gap on your trip to CDMX.

Thomas “Thomas” Burkett 4 years ago

Expérience fantastique: The building itself is a piece of art. It’s a must see in cdmx and Coyoacán. A wonderful collection of pottery and work from states all around Mexico - Diego Rivera assembled a wonderful collection that is a treasure. The architecture influenced by ancient temples of Mexico and contributed to by Frank Lloyd Wright is spectacular. Make sure to visit the terrace upstairs and outside amazing views. The stone is volcanic and created a sense of the ancient and modern.

Expérience fantastique: A must See in Mexico City. If you bought tickets for the Friday Kahlo house/ museum the same day without paying more you can enter the Anahuacalli Museum ir vice versa. It is an amazing architectonic structure. Inside you will see over 2,000 magnificent artifacts from the Pre-Hispanic area from Diego Rivera Private collection. Mosaics in every ceiling of each room. The guides are very knowledgeable and will explain you every room. It has 3 floors and the terrace which has a good view of Mexico City.

Kimona Smith 4 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Another must see when in Mexico City. If you are interested in learning about the history of the country and some of its contributors then definitely visit Museo Anahuacalli. The view from the roof top is refreshing. Built from volcanic rocks each space was carefully designed. Just beautiful.

Expérience fantastique: Diego Rivera's collection of Aztec art and artifacts. There are amazing murals and paintings, and tools and things. This place is really special. It is made of this black stone and sits on a vista with sweeping views of the mountains around CDMX.

Alejandra Cardenas 4 years ago

Expérience fantastique: It is a very different and unique museum. Planned through the eyes of the artist Diego Rivera. All the pieces of art are from his personal collection or his own art. The gardens are beautiful. Some of the pieces are not original pieces but are exhibited as he acquired them because he liked them not because he thought of them as investment. His intention with the building of this museum was for people to go in and enjoy the art exhibited there through their own eyes and not as part of history.

Whitney Kieser 5 years ago

Expérience fantastique: What a fabulous museum. One of the most stunning architectural wonders that I've ever seen! Diego Rivera loved Mexican culture and conceived this museum but sadly, never saw it's completion. It was built from volcanic rock, and feels dark and cold at the entrance, (which was his intention) and then lighter and brighter the more you climb it's internal pyramid. There are thousands of items which he collected from almost every indigenous civilization in Mexico's history, and on the top floor are some of his own massive murals and other works on display. It's a wonderful museum and only takes about 30-40 mins to see it all.

Charley Galdamez 5 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Fascinating architecture and pre-Hispanic pieces inside Diego's museum. My favorite area is the rooftop patio with views of Mexico City. It really brought everything together. The entire structure is made of volcanic rocks!!!

Raymond Montez (Hollewood) 5 years ago

Expérience fantastique: An Amazing museum done for Diego Rivera archeological pieces of history. The structure of the building and the interior construction is outstanding. The 360 view at the top is worth the trip in its self. A must see when in Mexico City.

Brennan Rosales 5 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Absolutely a must-see museum for any trip to Mexico City. Great collection of pre-columbian artifacts, but the real draw for me is the building itself. The architecture is something to be experienced that you won't soon forget.
