Expérience fantastique: Very interesting, everything well cared for, you learn a lot about the lifestyle of the time and you can learn about the mummification process

Expérience fantastique: A very nice church, 4 masses on Sunday mornings and one in the afternoon. With a museum next to it. Sale of snacks in the atrium.

Expérience fantastique: The museum is colonial history and that is also our history. Its walls are a trip to the past and although the most emblematic pieces are its mummies, the art collection, its rooms and its gardens are a delight for the senses. A cultural oasis in the middle of this overwhelming city that is torn between modernity and tradition. The museum inside the former convent of El Carmen is a place that should be essential in travel guides.

Expérience positive: Nice and well maintained place. The exposition about life in a XVII century monastery is overwhelming. In this place is also displayed a small but well preserved number of mummies that date from that time. The place is a must when visiting Mexico city.

Expérience fantastique: It is a very interesting museum, it is also friendly with children, they run workshops and the organization of the rooms attracts their attention, it is a great place to go with the family

Expérience fantastique: Fantastic museum like most of those in Mexico City. An apparently austere place, but with a super extraordinary history, well preserved, images, altarpieces, original furniture, it exceeded my expectations. Congratulations to Ms. Museum guide (I omit his name for not remembering it).

Expérience fantastique: A surprising museum, truly a pleasant surprise to find a site with these characteristics and with the quality of works that it protects, widely recommended to visit, in addition to the fact that the site for its architecture and its gardens is beautiful to have a good time.

Expérience fantastique: An encounter with history, the mysticism of the convent, observing the mummies that are in the place, and enjoying the exhibitions that are presented in the facilities, the works of art are a pleasant experience, without missing the enjoyment of a chocolate and churros in the area

Expérience fantastique: Handsome! I have already gone several times. But this last one I did not go to visit the mummies. Spooky. Better I went to a concert with an ensemble that was made up of the whole family. The father, the mother, two daughters and the son. And they sang and played beautiful Mexican music.

Aldo González Diosdado 1 year ago

Expérience fantastique: An unmissable place, in addition to the silence that is breathed, the mummies are impressive. The place is in good condition. The only bad thing is that you can't go back to visit the gardens when you finish your tour and you can't leave things in parcels either.

Expérience fantastique: I did not have the opportunity to visit the museum since it was closed, however I had a pleasant visit to the temple, the architecture, the religious images and the details in general are great...

Expérience fantastique: This museum has very well preserved mummies as well as its facilities, they exhibit rooms with sacred art and its gardens are very beautiful.... it is worth visiting...

Diego Mercado 1 year ago

Expérience fantastique: It is a majestic museum, from the outside it looks like an abandoned house but it is quite the opposite, it has an exhibition with various paintings that were mostly made by "anonymous" people, it also has a very large garden where you can sit and contemplate the nature. In the basement there are about fifteen mummies that you can admire, take pictures of and, above all, have a good time.

Martín Oliva Isunza 1 year ago

Expérience fantastique: Great place and it is already better restored, the route has been changed, some places do not have access, they put more temporary exhibitions and the altar of Dolores is beautiful.

Samuel Silva 1 year ago

Expérience fantastique: The place is very beautiful, unfortunately several areas are closed and the entrance price does not decrease, and the time they allow you to be in the area of the mummies is only 5 minutes and they ask you to advance

Andres Semo 2 years ago

Expérience fantastique: A beautiful museum south of the city, where you can explore the religious stories that governed thought for three centuries. There is a collection of Reasonably preserved mummies for which no information is available But they are obviously very old.

Richard Fuentes 2 years ago

Expérience fantastique: In the El Carmen museum you will not only find the history of the Carmelite monks, you will find an artistic treasure of paintings as well. With more than 200 years old, the museum will introduce you to the extent of its exceptional garden. Another attraction of the museum refers to its mummies, the only ones in Mexico City, this place is open from Monday to Sunday, teachers and students have preference. On Sundays, admission is free, regardless, the site has various activities, including outdoors, such as Yoga, Tai Chi among other activities throughout the year.

Expérience positive: This museum has mummies in the basement area, and I've come to visit them several times, but the whole area was closed due to COVID restrictions in place and the basement had no ventilation whatsoever. I was disappointed I could not visit the mummies, I missed them. If they would just add in ventilation to the basement and allow people in, I would give it five stars.

Expérience fantastique: Visited the Mummys way back in 1970. Very interesting. I visit el DF quite often and hope to go back to museum on my next visit.

Expérience fantastique: Undoubtedly interesting and full of history, a must for those who visit the San Ángel area in search of sites that can contribute something to their cultural heritage. Each room offers something different and full of objects from different times, each object, painting, altarpiece, mummy, painting, space as interesting as the previous one. Highly recommended! You have to go early if you intend to admire the entire museum calmly. Entry (March 13, 2020) 65 Mexican pesos. It's really worth it, really!

Expérience fantastique: It is a magical place full of history and art, paintings, mummies, exhibitions, alebrijes, gardens and magic. There is a lot of security and their guards are friendly. Everything is very well restored every penny of your entry is noticed in the care and conservation of every detail of the place. Excellent option to spend an unforgettable day full of culture.

Expérience fantastique: Beautiful former monastery. Very clean and well preserved. Lots of art pieces like wood sculptures and paintings. Mummified nuns' corpses in the basement. Highly recommendable.

Estefanía Santos 4 years ago

Expérience fantastique: It is ideal to learn about the area in which it is located (San Ángel), this former Carmelite convent being part of the beginnings of the area. The museum is designed to absorb the tranquility that monks had more than 500 years ago. Guided tours are available and on Sundays admission is free. They only close on Mondays (like most museums). It really is a place worth going to even if you are not religious. It helps you to understand more about art and, finally, it is beautiful. Too many green areas to be a museum, everything is super well preserved. I loved it.

Expérience fantastique: From my favorite places and one that I will surely return to learn more. I would have liked to see the church but from the museum you can only see some pieces of it. I highly recommend the guided tour because it is quite illustrative to the neophyte and the casual visitor to museums alike.

Alberto Sassi 4 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Wonderful museum in San Angel. The museum is huge and really cheap. There is a wide collection of religious art by mexican artists of colonial times. The crypt is a jewel with amazing frescoes and also well preserved mummies. Attach to the museum is a beautiful church with some astonishing domes.

Antonio Delgado 5 years ago

Expérience fantastique: It is a very beautiful place just speaking of its architecture. There are buildings that have been standing for four centuries and others that were built later. There are also mummies, which gives it a pretty mystical touch. There is a good collection of baroque sacred art and in general the visit does not take long. Good place if you go with the family.

Expérience fantastique: It's huge. I didn't think it was going to be that big. The day I went (it seems to me that it was Sunday) they did not charge admission, but as in almost all museums, they give you a discount for being a student / INAPAM / teacher, etc. They have guides who are very good at explaining and the exhibits are well detailed. It will take you a few hours to go through it all, depending on the pace and how long you stop. I recommend seeing the exhibition of the mummies. Of course, they let you take a photo but without a flash since it damages the parts that are original. It is good to know a little more about the history of our Mexico. In front apparently is a functional church.

Expérience fantastique: Beautiful colonial buildings. Beautiful church. The quality of the museum in general has been improving gradually during the last ten years. The temporary exhibits are great!

Expérience fantastique: The museum is very nice, they exhibit pieces with a lot of history. On Sundays there are the most enjoyable themed guided tours for children and adults. It is a very quiet corner of San Ángel, ideal to spend a few hours on the weekend, the mummies and the orchard were my favorite places.

Andrew Gentile 6 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Great preservation of this convent. Great opportunity to see and honour mummies in the place where they lived.

Andy Martinez 6 years ago

Expérience fantastique: I was very surprised to see that this convent has mummies that are very well preserved despite not going through a curing process, although there isn't alot of information about them other than being burried at the church and then dug up by soldiers looking for treasures but finding only bodies. The rest of the museum is equally impressive. Beautiful paintings and rooms where servant lived have now been converted to display areas. The garden although not fancy by any means is very well kept.

Luis Raúl Pacheco 7 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Great place to visit, the mommies are a sight and it's very cheap to stroll the halls of this former convent
