Expérience fantastique: Good museum to get to know the history of the canarians. There are qr codes insite or you can get a device to tell you more about the exposotion.

Expérience fantastique: It is a small museum that can be visited between 30min - 1h, depending on how much one likes to listen to the audioguide. I consider that the main attraction of the museum is the skeleton room arranged like a collection of human skulls. Also, some mummies are exposed which are well preserved and eye catching.

Expérience fantastique: Very good museum which I really liked. It even has QR codes on the information notes which you can scan and listen to information about the items exposed. Alternatively, they lend you a mobile phone-like device from where you can listen to the information (you just give them a very small amount as deposit). Lots of skeleton included too. Upstairs the floor is a bit creaky but not a big deal.

Expérience positive: A great place to stumble across. It's only €5, with subsidised prices for seniors and students. All of the labels are in English as well as Spanish, but more detailed descriptions are only in Spanish. There are QR codes for you to scan and access free audioguides in multiple languages to compensate for this. The amount of history and research that has been recovered about the earliest inhabitants on the island is impressive. It took us around an hour to see everything, and there is also a little gift shop near the entrance/exit

Expérience fantastique: The exhibition is really interesting especially if someone is into the archeology. It is about the live conditions of the original habitants - canarios. The audio guide option that you can download yourself is really helpful. Too bad the descriptions of particular items are 90% of the time in Spanish only.. In order to park you have to look for some free spots on the near streets, the closest area is paid. Overall ecommended :)

Expérience fantastique: Great museum with a very interesting collection focused on the past of the Canary Islands

Expérience positive: As I've been to this island a few times I actually had no idea about the long human history here. Here there is little text (in English) to explain things and you must have a phone to the audio tours. Unfortunately the signal was bad and we missed lots of information as we couldn't connect. But I could understand a few things from the images and collections. It does well to show case how the tribes previously lived, where and even how to differentiate ceramic bowl differences between them. The skull room was quite interesting from a visual perspective however did not have access to tour so that's a mystery. It cost about €5 per person but is definitely worth a look here and to learn more about the Island pre-colonisation.

Expérience fantastique: It's a very good place to visit if you want to know more about the history of Gran Canaria. The young man in the reception was very helpful and friendly. He explained clearly how to get more information with help of Qr-kodes.

Expérience fantastique: Nice museum full of historical artefacts from the island. Nice view into the history of the island. Very impressed with the qr code audio descriptions along the displays

Expérience fantastique: Lost culture at the edge of the known world in the XV century. It's an amazing heritage of people who were stranded here for 1500 - 2000 years (?). Guanches created a vivid culture at least partially reconstructed in this museum. What pottery! Very good audio description in ES, EN, DE, FR, quite decent VR available for the most stunning artifacts. Must see when you are bored of sitting at the edge of the swimming pool. Getting to Las Palmas from tourist places is very easy - islanders operate public bus service. I.e. getting from Maspalomas to Las Palmas is only ~6 EUR and takes less than hour.

Expérience fantastique: The Museo Canario is a fantastic window into the Canaries' past. Through classic displays and modern technology, we could see what the life of the Guanches could be before the Spanish period of these islands. It's well worth the visit when you're in Las Palmas.

Expérience fantastique: Fantastic historical place located in the heart of the old town of Vegueta. The museum stands on what once was the private house of Dr. Gregorio Chil y Naranjo, one of the most relevant (if not the most) historian and anthropologist in Spain back in the day. The museum is nowadays a remarkable collection of his work and legacy, as well as a display of the legacy of the history and the people from Gran Canaria. Entrance ticket is reasonable given it can take up to two hours to explore everything. Particularly recommended to visit if you are interested in the history of the Canary Islands and its inhabitants, but mostly everyone will enjoy it!

Expérience fantastique: A little jewel. A private museum at a very reasonable price. It explains the heritage of the Canarian aborigines, their way of life, their technology. It has several mummies and an important collection of skulls.

Expérience fantastique: Interesting museum with audio guide in English.

Dan Littauer 4 years ago

Expérience fantastique: A must visit that illuminates the history and culture of the indigenous people that inhabited the islands before Spanish colonisation brutally and tragically destroyed these unique people. Although the museum is small it packs a great deal and I would recommend at least a two hours visit. The colonial building and neighbourhood are stunning.

Expérience fantastique: A fantastic museum that tell the story of the Canary Islands. Not everything is in English yet. But download a QR reader to your phone and listen to what they have translated. Fascinating, but be warned there is a lot of old bones and such if you are sensitive to that.

Expérience fantastique: A wonderful small museum telling the history of the original inhabitants of Gran Canaria. Only €4 entry, worth every cent. Two floors of rooms of well presented items. For an extra €1 per handset you can get an audio commentary of each room, definitely worth getting to make the most of your visit. If you like skeletons, you’re in for a treat!

Expérience fantastique: Must visit museum in Vegueta old town dedicated to the original inhabitants of the Canary Islands. Compact and fascinating.

Expérience fantastique: We arrive in time for a tour (in English) that helped us appreciate the ancient history of these islands. If we'd not has this, we wouldn't have got as much from the various displays with almost nothing in English so if you're not able to read Spanish we recommend participating in the tour in english, if available. Our guide was fantastic - an obvious enthusiast for all aspects of the archaeology of the Canaries, with extensive knowledge and very good English. A first class experience and one of the highlights of our trip to Las Palmas.
