Expérience fantastique: It is dedicated to the entire spectrum of the arts from the period between 1884, when the Société Libre des Beaux-Arts ("Free Society of Fine Arts") was founded in Brussels, and 1914, the year of the outbreak of the First World War, so it is dedicated to the Art Nouveau in all its aspects of paintings, objects and furniture. It is one of the constituent museums of the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium. The museum opened on December 6, 2013 and is located on the lower floors -5 to -7 of the Royal Museums of Belgium building.

Expérience fantastique: Fantastic museum! Paris worthy.. Have the view in function of guiding the visually impaired. Was super organized with "feel plates", meanwhile a guide who explained about the painting, what people could follow, and imagine themselves by also "feel".. I'll definitely return ..

Expérience positive: Great range of artists and artworks! I would prefer that the techniques employed (eg oil on canvas, watercolour or pastel, etc) were also described on the labels.

Expérience positive: You can probably skip this one. It's more of an art nouveau exhibition, but quite sterile looking and the audio guide isn't great. There's a lot to see, but I found it a bit unbalanced and not very interesting.

Expérience fantastique: Incredible. I liked it very much. Will definitely come back harder to cover it in one go.

Expérience fantastique: Interesting and quite complete. Not only painting, but also photography, furniture and other decorative objects, even architecture is represented.

Expérience fantastique: The highlight of the musees royaux complex. A single ticket gives you access to all four of them, as I recall, but unless you really want to ruminate over what is, or isn't a pipe, you want to rush straight here. It's a subterranean museum, every floor down taking you forward in time. The art nouveau floor (which is what you really came to see, right?) is at the bottom.

Expérience fantastique: Superb museum (located within the main Museum of Fine Arts) devoted to art in all its forms from the late 1800s until the advent of Art Nouveau. This museum presents Brussels as the creative crossroads of Europe at the turn of the century. We discover an exceptional collection of paintings, sculptures and decorative art by Belgian and foreign artists! Bluffing!

Expérience fantastique: My favorite period! Very nice museum but why open so late on weekends?

Bogus Reilly 2 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Very nice collection, located in the imposing and magnificent building of the Royal Museums. Despite the slightly cold and austere design of the floors, we stroll through masterpieces of late 19th / early 20th century painting. The museography is minimal but effective. After realistic paintings from the end of the nineteenth century, we find many Symbolists, Impressionists, Expressionists or avant-garde. Many Belgian artists obviously, in particular Ensor, Rops, Khnopff, Spilliaert, but also French people like Mossa (superb dark and strong works!). Also beautiful furniture and art deco jewelry.

Expérience fantastique: Belgium's most importent collection of its mostly unknown tribute to the world of belle-epoque art

Expérience fantastique: Unmissable. A positive surprise. Excellent setup. Easy and intuitive route. Go slowly down to level -8 and then surprisingly take a very fast lift that will take you back comfortably to the exit. Paintings, sculptures, furniture, porcelain, vases, lamps ........... Truly a beautiful surprise. It is worth making the cumulative ticket for the three museums which are actually only one museum pole connected internally with easy steps. Very kind reception staff and room guard. Unmissable.

Expérience fantastique: A large and extensive collection of art from around the globe. If your looking for some heavy hitters of the old art world this is the place. It was interesting that as you worked through the museum you would find surprises along the way. One second you were looking at the work of an artist you never heard of only to turn around to find a Monet or Picasso mixed within the group. The cafes inside are also excellent and worth a stop.

Expérience fantastique: Great museum... several floors underground. I think the most recent one was -8... very good 19th early 20th century painting... impressionist, post-impressionist, modern...Artists represented in the museum's collection include Constantin Meunier, James Ensor, Henri Evenepoel, and Fernand Khnopff, Leon Spilliaert. The museum also celebrates the richness of the period in literature, architecture, photography, opera, music, and poetry, featuring works by Maurice Maeterlinck, Emile Verhaeren, Octave Maus, Victor Horta, Henry Van de Velde, Maurice Kufferath, and Guillaume Lekeu. Important international artists of the period in the collection include Vincent van Gogh, Rodin, Georges Seurat, Paul Gauguin, and Edward Burne-Jones. The Gillon-Crowet gallery houses a collection of Art Nouveau furniture and decorative arts.

Expérience fantastique: ...Probably, belated regrets about the lost architecture of the 14th-19th centuries played an important role in the emergence of a new museum in Brussels called Fin-de-sciecle, that is, "the end of the century." The end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries is implied - with a certain degree of conventionality, this time can be compared with our Silver Age. The museum was opened quite recently and has not yet been fixed in the tourist mind. However, its attendance will inevitably grow, since it is part of the Royal Museum of Fine Arts. By the way, together with the Rene Magritte Museum, it also opened relatively recently (2009) and is located in a neighboring building. Fans of surrealism, as well as fans of old masters like Brueghel and Rubens, now have the opportunity to purchase tickets to the Fin-de-sciecle museum at the same box office ... True, to meet the local Silver Age, you will have to go underground, and on a fair amount depth: the bottom button of the museum elevator is labeled "-8". According to official figures, 8.7 million euros were spent on the arrangement of underground floors for the new exhibition, and there is a feeling that the entire amount went to its intended purpose. In any case, modern museum technologies are used here very sensibly, there is absolutely nothing to complain about. Questions may arise, rather, about the content of the museum. It is no secret that by the end of the 19th century, the times when Flemish artists set the tone for European art were already far in the past. How did the organizers of the new museum intend to catch the attention of the international public? It turned out that the curators of the Fin-de-sciecle museum are well aware that their "wards" authors are not sufficiently promoted on a planetary scale to play the role of frontmen. And so they resorted to a somewhat cunning, but quite justified and appropriate trick: combined Belgian art from the turn of the century with more recognizable art from other countries, primarily from France and Great Britain. For example, the works of the local classic Fernand Khnopff coexist with the canvas “The Wedding of Psyche” by the English Pre-Raphaelite Edward Burne-Jones, and the opuses of Hippolyte Boulenger, who sang of Flemish nature, correlate with the landscapes of the Barbizonian Charles-Francois Daubigny and Camille Corot, who was close to the Barbizon in spirit. There are parallels when showing the works of Alfred Sisley, Paul Gauguin, Pierre Bonnard, Auguste Rodin - for each of them some Belgian "sparring partner" is offered ... And sometimes more than one ...

Expérience positive: Musee Fin-De-Siecle (End of the Century Museum) is a member of the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium which showcases international art forms popular around Europe at the turn of the 20th century. Museum opening hours 10am to 5pm (Tues-Fri), 11am to 8pm (Sat-Sun) and closed on Mondays. Entrance fee is €8 per person. Alternatively, you can purchase a museum combo for €13 which provides entrance into the Old Masters and Magritte Museums as well. There are nice Impressionist artworks to see at Musee Fin-De-Siecle but what we enjoyed seeing most were Art Nouveau period furniture and fashioned items, many of which were outstanding works by the likes of Mucha, Horta and others. Overall, Musee Fin-De-Siecle is a very good museum if you have specific interest in the Art Nouveau. Otherwise you may want to take a pass. However, if you intend to purchase the Musees Royaux Des Beaux-Arts combo ticket, then give yourself 30-45 minutes to browse through this museum. You may find some things that interest you here. Note: The combo ticket is only good for a single day so make sure you reserve enough time to adequately visit the Old Masters and Magritte Museums as well.

Expérience fantastique: Most exclusif Art-Nouveau collection In the world! Super beautiful !

Rick Jonsson 6 years ago

Expérience positive: Another big part of the Royal art museums is the Turn of the Century museum, with an impressive collection of the best art in Europe from the 1850 to the start of WW1. The exhibition is located below ground on floors -3 to -8 and will take you about an hour in a normal pace to walk through it but I would recommend you sit down and appreciate some of the master pieces along the way.
