Expérience fantastique: For a provincial town, the collection of this museum is really amazing. And these days you can 'join' the restoration of the Van Eyck 'Adoration of the Lamb.'

Expérience fantastique: It's a really nice space! Went there during the Masereel exhibition, but the rest of the museum was very pleasant as well!!

Expérience fantastique: Excellent museum, full of classics, many of which unfamiliar to the average museum goer. Well worth going to

Expérience fantastique: Small and special. Wi-Fi doesn’t work well but no matter because the curator boards are well done.

Expérience fantastique: Nice muséum, plenty of famous painter My favorite room:classical vs impressionism The photo dont represent muséum quality but i like wood working!

Expérience positive: Wonderful museum, with significant focus on late medieval and renaissance biblical paintings. Some of the more recent era works (paintings and statues) are absolutely stunning, possibly up there with the best I’ve ever seen.

Expérience fantastique: Bit out of the city centre but in a lovely park. Large collection of art ranging from the Flemish primitive to realist and surrealist masterpieces. Lovely audio guide. The building is spacious and easy to get lost in. The tour is about 2 hours long.

Expérience fantastique: Museum voor Schone Kunsten is my top favorite museum in Belgium. My experience here was even better then The Royal Museums of Fine Arts - Brussels museum that is my second favorite museum in Belgium. The building looks recently renovated and the background colors of the walls enhance the whole experience of admiring the masterpieces exposed. The collection includes Old Masters such as Jheronimus Bosch, Peter Paul Rubens and Anthony van Dyck hang alongside impressionists, surrealists and modernists such as James Ensor, Auguste Rodin, Emile Claus, René Magritte and George Minne. If you enjoy art, a visit to Museum voor Schone Kunsten is a must.

Expérience fantastique: Beautiful museum with a nice selection of art items through the ages and a nice and elegant presentation. Also it is not too big so that you are not overloaded!

Expérience fantastique: There are many museums in Ghent, some of which can be easily missed. This one is definitely NOT one of them. It contains a rich and varied collection of works of art, including pictures of Pieter II Brueghel and Jheronimus Bosch. Just a must visit when you are in Ghent!

Expérience fantastique: Lovely museum. I especially appreciated the use of colours on the walls. Makes the art really pop and whatever designer did that should be very proud!

Expérience fantastique: This is a great art museum with an awesome permanent collection (Breughel2, Bosch,aso...) but, at the moment of this writing, they also expose a worldwide reassembeled collection of (10 out of only 20 remaining) genuine Jan Van Eyck paintings and dousaines of related paintings. Also, learn all about the restauration and history of the most famous painting of Van Eyck and his workshop... must visit. Be aware,,... limited number of visitors a day,... all live available info at the entrance of the museum near the Citadel park and the (equally famous) SMAK museum.

Expérience fantastique: This was a lot of walking in this area since there are a lot of museums and attractions to see outside the city center. A lot of renowned paintings inside! I didn't make any photo inside because paintings should be seen live - no spoiler here…

Expérience fantastique: Fantastic collection of Flemish and northern Renaissance paintings. Currently restoring the panels of Ghent Altarpiece so worth the visit just to see that process.

Expérience fantastique: The Museum of Fine Arts in Ghent, Belgium, is situated at the East side of the Citadelpark. The museum holds a large permanent collection of art from the Middle Ages until the mid 20th century. The collection focuses on Flemish Art but also has several European- especially French- paintings. My favorite paintings are Hieronymus Bosch - St. Jerome at Prayer Hieronymus Bosch - Christ Carrying the Cross Pieter Brueghel the Younger - Wedding Dance in the Open Air Fernand Khnopff - Incense René Magritte - Perspective II, Manet's Balcony

Expérience fantastique: Great collection of Dutch and Flemish paintings in chronological order. Great explanation of each era and the evolution of painting techniques and themes.

Expérience fantastique: The Jan Van Eyck exhibition with guided tour was so stunning. The organisational staff guides and helps visitors flawlessly. With a guide you get that extra information which adds to the great artwork itself. Definitely worth visiting!

Expérience fantastique: Loved this museum! Didn't have enough time to see it all! I'm in a wheelchair, so this was my only chance to see the Altarpiece, as it's being restored. Very interesting displays to see how its being done. (Wheelchair accessability is not available in the Abbey where the Altarpiece will eventually end up) The rest of the works are well organized and rooms have ample areas for sitting to observe & rest, too. The earphone guides are great, too. Attendants always were helpful to answer questions. We plan to return to see what we missed by our first time restraints. I highly recommend.

Expérience fantastique: Belgian art over 500 years. Some famous Bosch and more recent artists I’d never heard of but were also wonderful

Tahlia Robinson 4 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Lovely museum in a lovely location. Interesting art with well explained history. There was restoration of an old oil painting being done while we were there which was very interesting. Unfortunately part of the museum was closed due to renovations.

Expérience fantastique: Excellent museum, art from the middle ages up untill impressionism. All divided in easy to swallow chunks, but its a big museum nonetheless, better get yer walking boots on

Naomi Vann 4 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Brilliant experience. We loved it's eclectic mix and the rooms that showed things like portraits through the ages! Nice bar at the bottom too, although they adhere to strict kitchen opening times. So if you want to eat plan that into your itinerary!

Rick Hoefer 4 years ago

Expérience fantastique: So much high to see with educational information by each painting. An audio guide would have been nice but the art can stand on its own.

Anna 5 years ago

Expérience fantastique: An excellent museum with wonderful works from major and minor Belgian painters, with the addition of international ones. Excellent selection of art from the last few centuries and has plenty of space to enjoy each one of them. Left us discovering lots of new artists. Would definitely go back!

Expérience fantastique: Lots of pieces to see there paintings and sculptures. The museum is quite large. It's possible to watch as they restore Van Eyck's famous altar piece through a glass, very cool.

DAVID SNYDER 5 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Very nice, well organized museum with a broad collection.

Expérience fantastique: Really nice sized museum. It appears small but the layout makes it feel much bigger inside. Comment cards on artwork are in Dutch and English, which makes it much easier to enjoy the art.

Anna Obarzanowska 5 years ago

Expérience fantastique: The building itself is magnificent and the permanent collection is outstanding. Located at the other end of town, you might be tempted to give this museum a miss but you'll regret it of you do. If for no other reason than you getting to see the conservators working on the restoration of the Ghent Altarpiece in real time - an enormous privilege

Harald Werner 5 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Visited to see the restoration of the Van Eyck altar but we're amazed of the museum itself. They have a number of Rubens and two paintings of Hieronymus Bosch. Amazing, really liked it.

Oleg Naumov 5 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Must see Museum in Ghent. Here you are going to find the master pieces created by all Breugels, Rogier Van Der Weyden, Dieric Bouts and so on and so on.

Martin M 6 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Wonderful art collection. I was impressed and finally I know who was Emile Claus, the patron of the street nearby where the cycling race Omloop Het Nieuwsblad ends.
