Expérience fantastique: What a great collection of masterpieces, both from the old and from more modern masters. The collection has been hung in a playful manner and regularly confronts old and new with each other. Also take note of the new architecture built into the old structure; a successful transformation.

Expérience fantastique: What a wonderful museum and what an asset for Antwerp. The art in the museum is very diverse and tells a lot about Flemish history and culture. Both old and recent works show off in the magnificent spaces. In several rooms there is also a modern nod to a work that hangs there. If you have time, enjoy the projection room or try the virtual reality. An absolute must and must-see for anyone visiting Antwerp. Deeply impressed.

Expérience fantastique: A very nice museum after 11 years of restoration. Very nicely adapted and modernized. People are very friendly, definitely worth a visit to see these beautiful paintings.

Expérience fantastique: The modern "art" part is disappointing. As often the case with modert art (the routing is also confusing) As for the old masters: excellent paintings and sculptures from 14th - 19th century. Beautiful rooms. Well worth the €20,- ticket price.

Expérience fantastique: Very busy despite slots. Be sure to bring a map (free) because inside the tours are a labyrinth. If you come by bike, there is far too little storage space. Strange that you can approach the artworks down to cm. You would expect a security. Wonderful app for the tours. Beautiful collection, unique. Highly recommended.

Expérience fantastique: Fantastic museum with wonderful collection! Count on three hours of visit (2 as indicated is too little) Fun for the children (and adults ) are the linked objects that have been placed extra in rooms, and of which you can also collect inkless printing stamps. So bring a nice blank paper

Expérience positive: Lovely space. But. A person in a wheel chair couldn’t go through the small door -nobody couldn’t open the other door. The floor is so shiny that if you have balance problems, it will make your visit challenging. There were only two small lifts, we had to wait for ages to go up. Hardly any staff to explain anything at the entrance. Not a lot of explanations for the art exposed. (Also we didn’t understand that the female staff in the café in the museum were all wearing leather trousers, it made us feel uncomfortable). Apart from all that, beautiful art like Wouters, Rubens, Appel, Basquiat, Panamarenko… exposed. And a possibility to try VR and to see Rubens’ atelier.

Expérience fantastique: I think it's better to come on weekdays, the market is too crowded I may not have seen half of it Definitely a must-see and easy-to-visit museum

Expérience fantastique: Nice renovation, in which light and dark are played with. Eclectic collection with many masterpieces.

Bruno Van de Voorde 1 year ago

Expérience positive: It was fine, artsy and kunstig. Nice new architecture, brilliant new artworks and quite a lot of visitors. One small negative point: the works seriously lack in-depth information (e.g. a short mythological explanation of the painted stories, explaining the symbolism or the view of the artist, the time period in which it was painted, etc…) doe zo verder!

Expérience fantastique: Beautifully renovated, Belgium and Antwerp in particular have created a world-class topper.

Expérience fantastique: Art on art, or in art. Because that is the Museum…”ART”. Put on easy footwear, forget the time, and lose yourself in the myriad dimensions of this fine arts museum. Too much to include, list or try to contain with words. Enter the experience, I say with pride, as an Antwerp!

Expérience fantastique: Beautiful museum with impressive collection. The app with 'tours' and audio guide is very useful. Could be better in my opinion: when you enter it is something to look for. Cloakroom, ticket scan, ... are all not marked. This could be clearer.

Expérience fantastique: This is the most beautiful museum in the world! Let me compare it with the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. It has been beautifully renovated and decorated. Truly gorgeous. But the KMSK really goes a step further. It had to be not only beautiful but also super interesting for the visitor. And they have succeeded so well. A few examples: rooms are arranged according to theme. For example: Mary. There hangs the Madonna of Jean Fouquet, next to it Rogier van der Weyden and opposite Marlene Dumas. All such powerful paintings and they reinforce each other enormously. Other examples: details from paintings reappear as sculpture and as video installation. What I also find a plus is the way in which descriptions have been added to some works. You are addressed as a viewer. "Pay attention when you walk by, then you see....." There are also exciting interaction possibilities. For example with the Madonna by Fouquet: a screen allows you to change colors in the painting. It helps you to understand the painter's choices. The museum justifies a visit to Antwerp. Try to do it in 2 or 3 visits.

Expérience fantastique: The museum is a beacon in the city. Be sure to admire the facade and the moving fountain in front of the building. After 11 years of closure for restoration, we can visit it again. The old masters part for me was mainly coming home to what I knew from the past. The halls are impressive. The new part is a beautiful interpretation of the open interior space that used to be there. Fascinating collection. It is nice that the rooms were tackled thematically.

Expérience fantastique: This place, at the end of its masterly restoration, should transport the most demanding visitor with enthusiasm. The collections are sumptuous, like the Antwerp metropolis, the presentation is magnificent. We are rediscovering a very large museum. The contemporary additions fit in perfectly with the pompous and grandiose architecture of the nineteenth century. A total success, so welcome in these gloomy times. The Flemings have reason to be proud of their creativity.

Expérience fantastique: Very impressive. We spent four hours there.

Expérience fantastique: It is worth coming to the completely renovated museum. There are beautiful paintings by Rubens and his contemporaries as well as older and more modern works and sculptures by well-known and lesser-known artists. A rich collection!

Expérience fantastique: So beautiful so beautiful it is really worth seeing entrance is 20 euros but that is really not much for what you get to see this is really recommended for everyone young and old enthusiasts and not enthusiasts. You can walk around it for 2 hours without any problems and then you have not gone too fast. I will definitely come back .. thanks Antwerp for making this so special

Expérience fantastique: Beautiful building in the center of Antwerp, or if you consider the Meir as the center, just outside the center. Within 2 weeks there will finally be the long-awaited reopening and I'm really looking forward to it! I am curious about the interior and the exhibited works. August 18 they were busy working on the entrance, the footpath. This museum is iconic. And hopefully there will also be a nice foyer next to a museum shop.

Expérience fantastique: Finally open again after 11 long years. The absolute top in Europe. Nice layout, beautiful architecture, friendly employees and easily accessible. Nice neighborhood of Antwerp.

Expérience fantastique: I was there yesterday and I thought it was a wonderful museum with a fantastic collection of art. After 2h30 I still hadn't seen everything so I'll come back. Sorry...I forgot to look at the white floor, I was distracted by the masterpieces on the wall...Be sure to walk around the museum outside to see the artworks outside. The museum is very easily accessible by public transport, which stops right in front of the entrance. You can easily book/pay online. The employees are very friendly and helpful, I had problems opening the free locker and was helped well. The free app works fine. You can choose from a single guided tour or enter the number of a work of art per room and read the information or listen to an audio fragment. DON'T FORGET TO BRING EARS. And enjoy......

Expérience fantastique: After 10 years of extensive and much needed renovations, the museum has reopened! Make sure to visit the museum when visiting Antwerp for its Rubens paintings and have a coffee or a beer at one of the numerous cafes across.

Expérience fantastique: A pure marvel! Allow two to three hours for the visit (or more if you wish/can). The Modern Arts section is sensational. The Ancient Arts section is more conventional, and that's fine. The staff are friendly and considerate. Big crowd since the reopening. If possible, go during the week. In any case, it is prudent to book on their site. For my part, I will return very life.

Expérience fantastique: Visited the museum today on the second day of reopening after 11 years or renovation. It was very enjoyable, hard to describe. Probably the most impressive museum of fine arts I have ever been to (although the Prado is still on my list). An absolute must for your visit to Antwerp. A stunning building with a mind-blowing collection of the Flemish masters and beyond, plus some fun tongue-in-cheek details on the side that grasp your attention. You will need 2-3 hours for your visit, but the impression will last much longer. A museum of world class.
