Expérience fantastique: Very nice house museum with lots of history

Expérience fantastique: An absolute must! So lavish and crammed with fascinating furniture, objects, and portraits of all styles and eras. A distinctive museum that offers insights into the rich and famous of the Netherlands, inheriting nobility thru wealth if not thru DNA. This house shows how folks lived with canal access in front for deliveries and guests, or thru the exquisitely serene rear garden and out by carriage and roadway. I was a little sad that the usual carriage house displays were on hiatus for a special show. How fabulous to imagine A-dam with horses! Servants quarters evocative of Downtown Abbey, but urban and Dutch. One good thing about the special. show is that it offered a really fascinating video interview of a latest generation Dutch man discussing the experience of keeping homes of this type in family ownership, often inhabited by older family members. Remarkably, we could hear mealtime conversation and other noises behind a closed door, because some family do still live here! Pictures of visits by Xie and Obama ... the mind boggles. When is the Showtime series: "The Van Loons" ?

Expérience positive: Nice oasis of calm style in the center of Amsterdam. Nice interiors but tbf way overpriced for what they are. I am a massive passionate of historic interiors and I managed to see entire house in about 30 mins. The stables at the end of the garden could be arranged in a more interesting way. There seems to be no real story told while you walk inside the house just old furniture in the rooms... a little bit dead for my liking. The only thing I found outstanding was the wallpapers in 2 bedrooms upstairs. The rest really really average.

Expérience fantastique: The museum is located in a canalside house. The highest point of this visit is his garden as well as seeing a house designed on the 17th century. The museum regularly organize contemporary art exhibitions besides the Van Loon family lifestyle and historyexhibition.

Expérience fantastique: Such a beautiful museum. Well worth visiting Museum Van Loon to see how the upper class of Amsterdam used to live. You can learn more about this prominent family and the house itself with the printed guide and Dutch/English material in each room. The courtyard behind the house is amazing and makes the visit even better! You should come tour this museum!

Expérience fantastique: A beautiful place with a garden and a historical collection of divine paintings and artworks Didn't have a chance to "indulge" in historical excurse, but could enjoy a cup of coffee and an amazing courtyard during my mindful break ‍♀️. Was lucky enough to become a spy and witness preparations + a general rehearsal( I do believe so!) before the final Saturday try-out & Sunday premiere of the opera Va Pensiero: The Euphrates and her Stories. Promised to return for more enlightment, a pop-up dinner, debate, and positive vibes! Definitely worth stopping over and coming back!

Expérience fantastique: An amazing moment back in time in this somptuous typical canal house. No need for a guided tour if you are not interested deeply into the family history, you can see how this rich aristocrat were living. The garden is also beautiful, and you can even see how the family got so rich as so many others thanks to an additional exhibition on slavery in another building at the back of the garden. It was worth it just to satisfy my curiosity on what were those canal houses hiding.

Expérience fantastique: Very interesting museum, shows the dark side of the rich nobles of Amsterdam. Ornate rooms, in the style of Louis XV. Could not reccomend highly enough.

Expérience fantastique: I was impressed by this museum, first I choose this place to see and fell how people lived in 17 century, but it has more than this. Gorgeous paintings and furniture pieces are everywhere. I got to know what was the price of this wealth, and I saw three mini films about legacy of this mansion and people who lived here as masters and servants. And this story is about slavery and human rights. So, I hope you'll find this place educational for yourself as well. Want to mention that this museum is funding only by tickets of visitors and therefore staff here acts like family. They are very welcoming and pleasant.

Expérience fantastique: The well preserved residence of the Van Loon family. Gives a good impression of how the rich lived in Amsterdam during the past centuries. One of the photos shows the view of the gracht through an original window pane from an opstairs bedroom

Expérience fantastique: Amazing house, beautiful furniture, stunning garden. Definitely a must see even for those not into their history, probably one of the top 3 museums in Amsterdam without a doubt! There's also a cute little cafe in the coach house at the bottom of the garden where you can get a coffee or cake and enjoy the garden even more.

Expérience fantastique: A very interesting museum showcasing a traditional Amsterdam house of a wealthy family throughout the centuries (1600-1800). Also nice garden and temporary exhibitions in the part on the back. Someone is probably still living there at the top floor, and you can alsonrent the dining room for events.

Expérience fantastique: The most interesting experience we had in Amsterdam. It's not just a museum, it's a chance to travel back in time and have a small glimpse of how a wealthy family lived then in this gorgeous dreamy house. 27.3.2014

Expérience fantastique: Stunning and informative, a must see in Amsterdam. Even though this attraction may get overshadowed by the more popular places, this is an amazing, living piece of history. Added bonus is a garden house of Rembrandt’s famous pupil Ferdinand Bol.

Expérience fantastique: To be honest I only visited here because it was close to me and included in my Amsterdam pass. But, I am so happy I took the time to see this historic gem. Beautiful inside and out.
