Expérience fantastique: Great way of getting an idea how people lived around the Southern Sea in the Netherlands a 100 years ago. There is a lot to see: old houses, crafts, demonstrations and shops. Also nice is the boat ride towards and from the museum which is included in the ticket. You can certainly spend several hours here.

Expérience fantastique: Came there assuming that we went into a museum inside but we're happily surprised that we went on a ferry to an outside little town. It was like going back in time, like the 1900ths. We were there on the hottest day of the year, 36 degrees Celsius and almost everybody went to the beach ️. So it was nice and quit. I won't tell you too much cause that will spoil your experience nice people and excellent presentations. We had an perfect day

Expérience fantastique: Really enjoyed this piece of old Holland brought back to life! Fascinating history of the area. It’s mainly outside so choose nice weather! Very tired feet afterwards, so proof of a great day out.

Expérience fantastique: Is a very nice place, just like jump into 100 years ago fish village. The indoor museum is full of knowledge about this area and the outdoor museum just amazing. I spent 4 hours there and didn’t finish it just too big. But the traditional lunch set they sell on the website is 2 sandwiches and 1 bread with 1 banana and 1 apple juice, quantity and quaility is nice but I recommend just buy food when you arrive the restaurant

Expérience fantastique: Great experience, had a wonderfull day exploring the Zuiderzeemuseum. It shows the way people in West-Frisia lived, worked and enjoyed freetime. Over various time periods, different 'actors' give another dimension to this experience. In short, be sure to visit this interactive museum of Dutch history.

Expérience fantastique: Wonderful museum with lots of really enthusiastic volunteers. They are keen to offer information and demonstrations of various styles, jobs and hobbies of the people living in the town during the period. The town is beautifully reconstructed and preserves the history of the country extremely well for us to enjoy. A boat ride to the entrance is also included if you wish. Information is available in Dutch, English and German.

Expérience fantastique: Perfect little outdoor museum depicting a traditional fisherman village on the shores of the old Zuiderzee (now IJsselmeer). Fun for all ages. (and don't miss the traditional apple pie)

Expérience fantastique: What a great cultural experience. Done with all the touristy things in Amsterdam? I highly recommend coming to this museum, you won't be disappointed. Try to take a canal trip around the village and don't miss the smoked fish near the windmill.

Expérience fantastique: We had a great time at this museum. It's soo big you can spend the whole day having fun. Perfect for young and old. It's a bit more expensive than other museums but you get the value for your money.

Expérience fantastique: An excellent open air museum focusing on what life used to be like in the fishing villages around what used to be the Zuiderzee (Southern Sea) but is now a lake called the IJsselmeer. Lots of buildings moved here from various villages, craft demonstrations, etc.

Expérience fantastique: If you are in the area and have kids this is a must stop. The boats are beautiful, the homes and buildings from the past have a lot to learn from and it's a great place to spend a day.

Expérience fantastique: If you aren't in Enkhuizen yet and unsure about visiting then let me start by saying that I definitely recommend a visit for a day or so. In my humble opinion, it's more beautiful and more interesting than famous fishing towns like Volendam. Check out this open air museum in Enkhuizen to learn more about what used to be a rough sea in the middle of the country and how all the towns around it used to fish it for herring, and other fish. Ook voor ons Nederlanders vond ik het Zuiderzee museum zeer de moeite waard.

Expérience fantastique: Lovely experience..park your car and get on the boat to the Zuiderzeemuseum. There you can spend the whole day wondering around. It's like you are back in the 1800's

Expérience fantastique: One of the coolest open air museums i have ever visit. Takes you accross time and distance to see how Netherlands lived between 1700-2000. Great detail to house the families lived witj representations of a day in their lives.

Tomas Bolek 3 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Great experience for the whole family. Don't forget to account for the ferry trip from and to the parking lot when planning your schedule - it takes about 15min there and 25min back (the ferry stops at the train station on the way back). Most of the "interactive" and kids-focused things are in the further part once you've come off tbe ferry, so save some energy.

Expérience fantastique: Going to the Zuiderzeemusuem is a guaranteed perfect day. Been here many times and never get tiered of it. Get whisked away (by free by ferry ⛴) to the Dutch villages that once once lived off the sea. There are peaks into all the different types of life and many fun displays showcasing important trades. Make clog sailboats, see the how fisherman lived, make fishing nets or play old fashion games. Do not go without getting some of the smoked fish, it’s fantastic. This museum should be on everyone’s must see list.

Expérience fantastique: Great open air museum right on the IJsselmeer, that used to be the sea. They have houses from all over the area that they rebuilt at this museum site. A lot to see and do in the houses as well. Definitely worth a visit!

Expérience fantastique: This place is amazing! It aims to recreate how Dutch people lived a hundred years ago and they really achieve it! Antique shops with real workers wearing the old apparel that was used before, real old houses, etc. It is definitely worthy! (Especially if the weather is nice)

Expérience fantastique: A great museum for both kids and adults. Showing 100 years ago countryside of the Netherlands.

Expérience fantastique: True reflection of the past. Easily the best heritage museum I have seen. The people here have done the people of the past proud by their maintenance, passion, and organization of this museum. The knowledge shared here is only matched by the atmosphere. It truly felt like visiting the time. Highly suggest taking the ferry to enter here. The smoked herring was absolutely perfect. The restaurant is actually not bad for a cafeteria. Be sure to give yourself a lot of time to explore, as it will draw you in.

Expérience fantastique: Nice museum, definitely to recommend. Back in time including role-playing people. Good for kids even though, I did get disturb by a large shouting group... Depending where you park, you can be led to the outdoor village by boat. It is a must do. Combined with good weather, the 17€ are so worth it.

Expérience fantastique: A wonderful place that takes you a few hundred years back in history. Great experience to see how people lived two hundred years ago. Small fisherman houses, windmill, old ships, old pharmacy, cheese factory and much more. Best way to come is arriving by boat from parking place.

Expérience fantastique: Super fun place to come, at any age. My girlfriend and I loved exploring the tiny houses and seeing what Dutch living was like in the past. The area it's in is also very pretty, situated right by the water. Making it a beautiful day trip. Definitely worth taking a trip to

Expérience fantastique: Zuiderzeemuseum is one great museum which you can experience Dutch culture and history. The museum has 2 parts which is indoor and outdoor. I come here by ship after I watched the steam tram from Medemblik. You can understand Dutch life from last century when you walk down the street inside the museum. When you leave outdoor museum, turn left and go down the road. You will find indoor museum there. So you should always keep your ticket and do not throw it away when you are in outdoor part.

Ronald Jansen 6 years ago

Expérience fantastique: This museum is a must see for The Dutch people and all travelers. Great outdoor and several activities. Hidden secrets are: use parking with ferry and there is also an indoor museum.

Constantine Korobov 6 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Totally awesome, can recommend to both those who have kids and who don't. Museum card is working here. Also try smoked fish and if you're with kid do clomp-boat workshop.

Expérience fantastique: The Zuiderzeemuseum is a beautiful trip down Dutch history. It's a romantic almost Utopian place that makes you long for the old days. A must see.

Victoria V 6 years ago

Expérience fantastique: It is a Netherland village as a museum open air, the buildings were transported there from different regions of Netherlands. Here you can learn about history and daily life of people 100 years ago. Go inside old school, cinema, houses, church, pharmacy, craft shops and visit workshops, where to learn how to make sea knots and look how is cooking salmon or herring and buy delicious smoked fish for 2,5-3 euro per one. Also you can visit indoor museum that working till 17.00 (as almost everything here) and have a lunch in one of cafe.
