Expérience fantastique: The place is nice, it's spacious, clean and has interesting things. Recommendation to add interactive games related to the sea for the fun of the little ones and add some more species to the aquarium

Expérience fantastique: Beautiful museum, I thought it was smaller. We spend two hours and almost running, there is much to see. For children there are more entertaining areas than others, but highly recommended. The best thing for them is the aquarium, although it is small, it is fine. To go all day, you have the museum, there are restaurants nearby and very good views with a walk and beaches to spend the afternoon.

Expérience fantastique: It is perfect for all audiences. For children the fun is the aquarium. And for others it has very attractive things

Andres Cañizares 1 year ago

Expérience fantastique: Of 10, beautiful views, it has an aquarium with native fauna. Highly recommended to go with children and then a swim in the beach next door.

Expérience fantastique: It is incredible to see what we have advanced in the maritime world (museum) I would have liked the aquarium to be bigger, but in general very well

Expérience fantastique: Ideal for the family to go, it is cheap, has a lot of art, history, and beautiful photographs. I love the evolution of fishing and the staff is super friendly. The toilets were all spotless and all available. The aquarium I would like it to be bigger but I enjoyed it

Expérience fantastique: Good food (razors, barberechos, meat, fish from the estuary... And their pate de cabracho) .. Everything very good.. The house Albariño wine is also highly recommended.. And very good service, all the waiters are very nice ..

Expérience fantastique: a very pleasant surprise Good way to learn about the principles of fishing in Vigo and how it evolved The Aquarium, although small, is very fun for children

Jorge Navas Alejo 1 year ago

Expérience fantastique: It is well worth a visit, especially the section dedicated to the history of the Galician fishing industry, including mentions of the first fishermen's strike against the shipowners or information on how long the rafts have existed. The views from the lighthouse are cool, perhaps the aquarium is a bit small and the collection of maritime-themed toys is very original. I encourage responsible people to publish an updated guide to the museum, since apparently the existing one is not for sale because it is very old.

Expérience fantastique: If you’re not into museum, it’s worth getting there just for the building itself. Modern architecture and a building that fits in the environment. Located in between 2 beaches and a stretch that leads to a lighthouse, with a nice café/restaurant that serves delicious dishes. When I visited, there was a temporary photo exhibition about the Portuguese Camino to Santiago de Compostela. Mix of 19th, 20th and 21st century photos. The permanent exhibition tells you all about the Galician fishing industry which is interesting considering the many changes due to geopolitical events throughout the periods of time.

Expérience fantastique: Awesome! A must for any lover of the sea, especially emotional art and the memory of the Prestige tragedy, the toy section is also very curious, without a doubt and if you are in the area it is worth visiting

Borja Signo 1 year ago

Expérience fantastique: Magnificent museum that shows various aspects of the relationship between man and the sea: evolution of research, marine science and biology, artifacts related to the sea, models of classic ships, toys, evolution of the fishing industry, aquarium, etc. The building, an old slaughterhouse with the remains of a Galician fort, is an excellent work by the Italian Aldo Rossi and the Galician Alfonso Penela and is located in a beautiful corner of the Vigo coast surrounded by beaches.

Expérience fantastique: The Galician Sea Museum is located in the old Alcabre-Molino de Viento canning factory (1887) in Vigo. The remodeling works ended in 2002, under the direction and review of the original project by César Portela. The resulting building mixes avant-garde and tradition, formed by a set of five rehabilitated naves, a newly built building also with five naves, and the extension of a pre-existing pier where an aquarium and a lighthouse are located. The thematic axis that forms the backbone of the museum is fishing, trying to bring a global vision of it, delving into the scientific foundations that govern the productivity of the seas and the understanding of marine ecosystems. The permanent exhibition, divided into two thematic areas, the sea and fishing, uses infographics, texts, videos and pieces to articulate Galicia's close relationship with the exploitation of resources. The facilities are completed with a large room for temporary exhibitions, an aquarium that reproduces the ecosystem of the estuaries and the musealization of an existing Iron Age settlement on the site: El Castro de la Punta del Muiño del Viento. Since 2006, the Xunta de Galicia promoted the investigation of underwater heritage, determining that the place of deposit of the materials of this origin be the Galician Sea Museum. Currently, the museum deals with the creation of a large room where the maritime history of Galicia is narrated, from a commercial perspective, in which the remains extracted from different shipwrecks on the Galician coast will be integrated.

Expérience fantastique: It is a small museum with a marine theme. The aquarium is interesting for an afternoon break with children. The area where the museum is located allows you a very cool walk between a couple of beaches. For a sunset spectacular views.

Expérience fantastique: Interesting museum that tells everything related to Galicia and the sea, such as the history of fishing. Many models and explanatory panels in Galician, Spanish and English. It has a small aquarium (rather a large fish tank). It also has archaeological remains of Celtic settlers. It is a modern museum, quite complete and entertaining.

Expérience fantastique: In a city like Vigo you could not miss a place dedicated to the sea. The Museum and its aquarium is modest but very interesting, with good didactics and in a beautiful setting !! To get there by urban bus from the center of Vigo use lines 15B, 15C or 10, they stop very close to the door

Daniela Riera 3 years ago

Expérience fantastique: An extremely wonderful place. Watching the sunset from here is an experience you cannot miss. Highly recommended to visit if or if you come to Vigo!

Expérience fantastique: Great place for kids to spend 2 great hours. They have a building with artifacts from the sea, nautical history, geology, history of the area, an aquarium and many curious things to see. There is a very nice whale skeleton. It would only be missing a little information about the fish in the aquarium. The aquarium is small and shows the fauna and flora of the estuary. The COVID security level is very high, it is a safe place.

Expérience fantastique: Inspiring surrounding's

Carmen Lago 3 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Spectacular views from the museum. Wide selection of models, and life-size ships. Opportunity to see fish, and a large sperm whale skeleton. Very didactic and entertaining museum, with rooms at different levels, shame that the cafeteria did not work, because the location is unbeatable.

Expérience fantastique: Very well the Museum, has much of the marine history of Vigo. It costs € 1.5 for students and is located near Samil Beach I recommend you visit it

Jose Manuel BARROS MARTINEZ Seguros 4 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Fantastic setting for a good Sunday. Museum on the sea from a more industrial and perhaps technical aspect than the one in Coruña, so perhaps less interesting for children. Interesting temporary exhibitions, in this case (January 2019) by the photographer Ricardo Grobas on the coast of Galicia.

Expérience fantastique: Excellent museum for maritime buffs. And the architecture is outstanding. Give yourself at least half a day.

Víctor M. Rodríguez P. 4 years ago

Expérience fantastique: A fairly complete museum. Numerous scale models of different types of boats throughout history. Small and large scale. In addition, many data on the history of navigation in Galicia and on fishing and naval activity in general. The building is a spacious, comfortable, modern complex, bigger than I thought and very beautiful. There is also a whale skeleton, a room with marine specimens preserved in formalin. A room dedicated to children's games related to the sea or marine transport, objects of all kinds related to boats, engines, headlight lights and an aquarium on a breakwater that ends in a lighthouse, among other things. There is also a cafe where concerts are offered some days during the summer and two more overlooking the estuary. They have free parking, although as there is no access control it is filled with people going to the small beaches surrounding the museum. The entrance fee is very reasonable and there are guided tours at specific times and other activities. The reception guy is very friendly. Coincidentally it was the same one that made us the guided tour in the saline the white night. I don't know if he will be the guide here too. We had a very nice time. In short it is a visit that is worthwhile for everyone and can be quite educational for children.

Expérience fantastique: Very interesting and didactic museum in Vigo, with a small aquarium and a lighthouse. A highly recommended visit. Tickets for € 3 for those over 8 years old. Cafeteria and restaurant inside. And a recovered Castro attached to the museum itself. There are k go with time, there is a lot to see.

Federico Cantoni 4 years ago

Expérience positive: The museum is interesting despite not being very thoroughly curated. Lot of exhibits were lacking in-depth explaination, and the cards in the acquarium were only loosely related to the fish actually there, some missing in the descriptions, some in the tanks... The temporary exhibit included some interesting equipment (most of it not really "museum grade", you can find better 'bitacoras' in antique shops around the town), the submarine section was awesome with its original unique torpedo buoy and maritime rescue equipment. The biological cabinet is an interesting addiction despite lacking a unified discourse about the topic. The second, larger, room holds some interesting boats and models, while the lower floor -that we could only quickly visit- showcases some cool artifacts and finds about the maritime archaeology and anthropological history of Galicia. My main complaint is about the management of the place. The personnell is kind and caring, but the extremely convoluted suggested visit path for the musum is explained just through a quick rundown at the ticket desk, directions in the museum are non-existant. Oh, and the main issue: opening hours. That is the worst, a joke. Museum is open 11–14, 17–20. There is no way to visit temporary and permanent exhibits, the archeological floor, the biological cabinet, the acquarium in just one morning or afternoon. Visiting with a young kid we needed to take our time to explain many of the exhibits, so at some point we had to rush through part of the collections to have a chance to see the acquarium before closing time. I am at a loss trying to understand why the opening time is not continuous throughout the day, and will not come back until they fix this major issue.

Expérience fantastique: Really beautiful museum. Worth the visit! For architecture lovers: a Aldo Rossi's masterpiece!

Francisco Jose Fernandez Rodriguez 5 years ago

Expérience fantastique: A very complete museum for which I thought all the facilities very well with a cafeteria and access to the sea by boat and on foot an extraordinary afternoon I liked it for how well documented it was and the number of different rooms it had, I will surely see it again with more stop soon.

Expérience fantastique: The content of the museum is interesting. The building itself and, above all, the location, very beautiful. It is worth it just to walk around the building and contemplate the estuary, stroll the beaches on which it is located, have a drink in the cafes while watching the sea ...

Expérience fantastique: Successfully located, but alas, buses do not often go to vigo and you need to plan the timetable. Unfortunately, they didn’t get into the museum itself; on Monday it was closed, although Google showed on the Internet that it was working. But walking around the museum is interesting, there is a small residential sector and a white sand beach where you can sunbathe and swim. There is a cafe, but many were closed, apparently not quite the season. At the stops there is an electronic display and an indication of when and which bus arrives. Have a nice rest. Knowledge of Spanish is desirable, passers-by rarely know English.

Expérience fantastique: Museum dedicated to the sea, history of fishing, biology and marine archeology. We liked it a lot, it has a lot of information and the buildings that make it up are very beautiful with beautiful views. It has a small aquarium where the little ones usually enjoy the most. There is a coffee maker and restaurant inside and toilets. Free parking is available. Admission is 3 euros for adults.

Expérience fantastique: It an unique place of landscape and culture.

Hans-Christian Höpcke 8 years ago

Expérience positive: A nice museum about everything related to the life in and with the sea. All texts are in Spanish and Galician, so not much worth to go there if you speak neither of them. Also the location at the sea side is great and the view you can enjoy without paying for the museum.
