Expérience fantastique: Reccomend, great naval exhibition of great history, great souvenir shop, entrance about 3 euro. Must visit

Expérience fantastique: As an American, we generally see history from our own perspective. However when you see all the European naval wars from the Spanish perspective, its kind of eye opening and cool. I really liked all the portraits of their naval heroes, the captains, the commodores the admirals, and the descriptions of all their ships and voyages et cetera et cetera et cetera. I really dug this place, it was enjoyable way to spend a couple hours; not a huge museum, not too bad but not amazing either, don't expect the prado

Expérience fantastique: Beautiful museum , stunning displays, very well exhibited. Each room took you through a different time in Spanish naval history. Well worth a visit.

Expérience fantastique: Exceptional naval museum, took me > dozens of trips to the wonderful city of Madrid before I discover it. Good news, apparently, not the only ignorant as the Museum was nearly empty, calm, contributing to the wonderful experience. So, go, visit it but.... ....shuuuuutt...don't tell anyone or publish the any clue on internet, keep it confidential, so it does no become overcrowded (Ps: perfect with kids and teenagers). -:)

Expérience fantastique: Spanish Naval history is a big part of the Maritime history of the world. Everyone who is interested in travelling and the history of the exploration of the world should go here. I an a British / Scotish sailor and I was blown away by the exibits. If you sail definatley go, and if you dont sail but are an explorer go. If you wabt to see and understand how the world we know was discovered... then guess what.. GO

Excellent.

Expérience fantastique: Beautiful museum. A lot of nice old paintings and a lot of other old naval history related things are being displayed.

Claus Rasmussen 1 year ago

Expérience fantastique: The Museum is located in probably the ugliest building in the neighborhood but certainly worth a visit. There's no entrance free although they ask for a voluntary contribution of 3 Euros It is not a huge museum, you can walk-through it in half an hour without hurrying but you could also spend an hour or two if you take your time to study the ship models and exhibited items It is a little short on explaining the items, so you better have a person with an interest in naval history in your group or a guide that can put things in context

Expérience fantastique: Amazing museum in the center of Madrid that many foreigners tourists don't know at all. A masterpiece 9f Spanish story. I've loved it Visited on Public holiday Wait time Up to 10 min Reservation recommended No … More

Expérience fantastique: Spectacular museum of the history of navies in Spain. Especially from the 1400s to the present day. Ties the Navy in with all the history of Spain and takes a relatively unvarnished view of things that happened. Never ending galleries of ship models and naval artifacts with good history explanations in English. Spent almost 2 hours there and it wasn’t enough time. Could’ve easily spent another 1 to 2 hours. And it’s free and they just ask for a three euro donation.

Expérience fantastique: A fantastic museum for ship and navy lover. Ticket only 3 euro!

Expérience fantastique: Great museum to learn about the Spanish explorations and army ships

Expérience fantastique: Possibly the best museum in Spain, especially for $3 tickets. Countless breathtaking works and artifacts telling the history of the famed Spanish Armada. Could easily spend 4 hours here.

Tyler Ehninger 2 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Incredible museum but I highly recommend getting a tour. The exhibit placards just don’t give enough information and background, especially on the historical implications that the Spanish Navy had on America. The museum could be more friendly in the way the information is portrayed and the order on which to see things.

Expérience fantastique: We found this on the way to the Archiology museum. It has great exhibits with lots of artifacts. There are dozens of model ships displayed in rare, antique cabinets. Some of se cabinets are museum pieces themselves. Most of the models are super detailed.. there are cut sections of sailing ships that show the detailed innards of the ship. The staff, including the security guards are friendly and helpful. The gift shop has some very nice items. I bought a tie and some nautical socks. I did not have time to read every listing which means that I must return. A rare find in Madrid for only €3.

Expérience fantastique: Amazing experience. The museum is very interesting, everything is explained in English and in Spanish. There is no fee but you have to donate 3 euros per adult. I went on Saturday and we waited in line outside for 25 minutes but it is totally worth it. The entire naval history is explained. Nice for kids to learn lots of interesting facts.

Expérience fantastique: For any naval enthusiast or really anyone invested in history, this is a prefect place. It's clear it was created by someone who really loved what he was doing. I would appreciate more English history texts as well as detailed specifications of the ships displayed. Merch shop has interesting inventory, which is nice touch and certainly not a given for many museums.

Expérience fantastique: If you are at all interested in the navy/ships/world exploration, etc then this museum is for you. It is technically free (they do “ask” rather insistently for a donation of 3€ per person for the upkeep of the museum when you enter) but that fee is nominal for what you get to see. The collection is immense and very impressive. You can follow the history of the Spanish Armada from pre-Columbus times up to the present. We spent a little over an hour here but you could definitely spend more time. The gift shop is fabulous also. Come here! So worth it.

Expérience fantastique: Very interesting national naval museum the history of a big naval power decadence

Expérience fantastique: Fantastic museum highlighting the early Spanish navel times. Tons of replica scale models of famous ships. Historic ship cannons, compasses, maps, swords and armor. Great explanations in Spanish and English by all items. A few stairs to get upstairs but there is an elevator; don't be shy ask to use it. The second floor is huge. Loved the ships figurehead throughout. Museum starts in the early 1500's and goes up to modern day.] Highly recommended! 2 eu per person donation for well over an hour of time. Skip the major museums at 20eu each and come here.

Expérience fantastique: This one of the museums that is outside the usual tourist trail of Madrid and a real hidden gem. The place is quite big and we'll documented. It covers the naval history of Spain do obviously it has a lot to offer. The entrance us free but a 3 euro donation per person is suggested for the maintenance of the museum which we were very happy to provide and was well worth it.

Expérience fantastique: Very interesting museum that guides you through the history of Spain from the Armada point of view. Totally worth the visit.

Antonio Requejo 5 years ago

Expérience fantastique: This is an hidden gem in Madrid; not a giant collection but quite extensive in time, ranging from Descubridores age to modern times. Ship models, actual cannons, recovered treasures and antique maps, a excellent choice to enjoy with kids, as you don't need a whole day to visit. Entrance fee is voluntary.

Expérience fantastique: Loved this place! A lot of Naval history to be seen and amazing art pieces to stare at and lesrn from. I totally recommend this place!

Alicia Martin 6 years ago

Expérience fantastique: Awesome museum with a ton of history! So many artifacts and weapons and other cool things that were donated to the museum or found years later in the water. Only a 3 euro donation as well so it's affordable. I'd say budget about 2-3 hours to walk through this place thoroughly. It also has the original, oldest map of the world known to man!

Muhieddin Takkoush 7 years ago

Expérience fantastique: This museum provides a detailed history of the famous Spanish armada. It has on display statues and paintings of the most important people in Spanish naval history, in addition to many models of ships and other old weapons. Watch out as it closes on Mondays and summer times are shortened (they close at 3pm in summer)
