🗣️ Riverside Museum: Opinioni
Esperienza fantastica: We visited this museum for the startling architecture by Zaha Hadid and the beautiful location. The museum is a fascinating collection of travel and technology artifacts, located on the banks of River Clyde and alongside a tall ship display. A short walk from the Glasgow subway or by bus. Entry was free and contains a bright sunlit café.
Esperienza fantastica: We spent three hours here. Extremely enjoyable especially time travelling in the old street with its typical shops, services (pawnshop, bar, shoe repairs, horse harness maker), and the cars and transport of those days. Lovely merchandise in the shop. Don’t miss the oldest postbox, and from the shop, you can get a postmark stamp saying you posted your mail from it!
Esperienza fantastica: It's free and it's interesting, what more could you want? We walked to it from the city centre. But that won't be for everyone as it's quite a walk. The museum itself is fairly accessible and had plenty to entertain the whole family. Good for a rainy day but equally good if the weather is bright and sunny.
Esperienza fantastica: A stunning museum full of historical vehicles, even with a reconstructed street where you can visit a few "shops" and feel the atmosphere of old times. Plus you can visit a now decommissioned ship outside of the museum. All free of charge.
Esperienza fantastica: It's an absolutely amazing museum. There are lots of things to see. Great for children, there is so much for kids to do so a great family day out. I just wish they would open earlier. The tall ship is out the back of the museum, and that really great to see. There are not a lot of amenities around the museum, but there is a coffee and crepes cart and an ice cream cart, too.
Esperienza fantastica: It was one of my best experiences, earlier we thought of not going it's just a museum but the whole time kept on saying it was worth visiting here. You can see all the automobile history plus and live demonstrations as well of various services, go ahead and plan for this place. Free of cost not sure how they are managing such a big infra.
Esperienza fantastica: An ideal place for Automobile lovers. Lots of vehicles on display. Plus you get to experience living in a ship. The tall ship is the best part of the museum.
Esperienza fantastica: Totally random day out for us and we had the best time. It was free to have a look round and read up on the history! Four of us went between the ages of 33 - 75 and all thoroughly enjoyed it. Loads to do/ see for kids too. Definitely worth going
Esperienza fantastica: Wow! Just a massive wow. I gave a £5 donation it's only fair as it is free to visit! Fantastic trains to trams to the oldest known pedal bicycle! Fantastic place great layout loved the old shops setups too. But the one thing that amazed me was the train upstairs. Yep an actual steam/coal train locomotive upstairs... Lovely place in a very proud Glasgow to have this place to visit is amazing.
Esperienza fantastica: Not to be missed! This trip back into time in the journey of transportation was a brilliant way to spend some time in Glasgow. From prams to trams to trains, cars, bikes and bicycles. This interactive historical space with the rooftop that’s shaped as the meeting of waves of the rivers is not to be missed. Don’t forget to visit the Tall Ship Glenlee berthed at the back, as this completes the tour loop
Esperienza fantastica: Stunning museum with endless transportation exhibits including full-scale immersive Glasgow city street complete with shops and subway. Best transit museum I’ve been to in the UK featuring dozens of vehicles both interactive and display, lining the entirety of the museum’s floor and walls. Brilliant stop for anyone looking for an up-close museum experience. Toilets and gift shop also on offer all under free entry with suggested donation. 10/10 would highly recommend if you’re in Glasgow.
Esperienza fantastica: One of the best museums I’ve ever visited. The museum looks amazing, I can’t remember but I think Zaha Hadid designed it, it looks like the river’s waves the roof design. The museum layout is a bit hard to get your head around, but it’s packed with great exhibits. The boat lift is amazing, really cool. I would highly recommend this museum. I would highly recommend to donate to this great museum, and to visit it.
Esperienza fantastica: #VALUE!
Esperienza fantastica: Very nice museum displaying the historic and present time of transportation means. Educational and interesting. Entry is free.
Esperienza fantastica: Great museum. Very informative and well-designed. Lots of vehicles to see and they even made an old shopping street, complete with clips and interior to get a feeling of old times. It the fact that it's free hasn't convinced you yet, it's also great for kids!
Esperienza fantastica: This is by far the best Transport museum I have ever been to. Far far better than the London Transport museum and its FREE, yes FREE to get in. It was informative, educational, amazing loads of brilliant exhibits and the cherry on top was the sailing ship moored at the rear of the museum which you could also go on. What an amazing Day I had.
Esperienza fantastica: Amazing place, lovely exhibits and pleasant layout. It is over two levels so ensure you make enough time to see it all as its well worth seeing everything. Great to see old cars, trains, buses all things transport related. There are two cafes on site for sit down snacks and drinks all reasonably priced. Covid restrictions in place are low key with mask wearing optional but sanitising stations are available.
Esperienza fantastica: Amazing place. The exhibits are fantastic, mostly old transport, but also other items. Free entry with a suggested donation of £5. I use a wheelchair and this is one of the must accessible places I've been, excellent. Highly recommended.
Esperienza fantastica: Fantastic collection housed in an absolutely amazing building. Really enjoyable visit especially during week as its not to busy and you can really get a good look round
Esperienza fantastica: Incredible collection of all sorts of vehicles, and also has a recreation of an old street in which you can visit a pub, shoemakers, etc. Well worth a visit for all ages; this museum offers a really rich insight into the way we were.
Esperienza fantastica: TL;DR - I highly recommend this gem of a museum! The Riverside Museum (free entry) covers all forms of transportation and the part each mode played in Glasgow's history. There are also exhibits about everyday life. My absolute favorite exhibit was the reconstruction of a Glasgow street from the early 1900s. An added bonus is The Tall Ship located directly behind the Riverside Museum. Entry is also free.
Esperienza fantastica: A very enjoyable and FREE museum about the history of transportation and life in Glasgow. Particularly enjoyed the subway room, which has a replica Victorian subway car you can go into, and the Victorian street set-up with little shops you can go into. Also has a cafe, a gift shop, a picnic area, quiet spaces for those who get overwhelmed by noise (it can carry quite far), and very clean bathrooms.
Esperienza fantastica: I honestly love this museum! Honestly shocking that its free! Loads of interesting exhibits and models! There's even a full scale version of the old glasgow subway, really cool! Plus the separate musuem round the back of the ship makes this a worthwhile place to visit
Esperienza fantastica: Super collection of vehicles with local history too. Well-presented displays, some interactive. Some items were displayed high up, which we understand was because of available space, but they were a bit hard to see, although there is plenty packed in to see already. Took my boys as toddlers years ago, came back this week with them as teenagers & they enjoyed their visit both times. Space for own picnic lunches, as well as small food counter. Car park is pay & display, but museum entrance is free, although there are donation boxes. We spent 2 hours there (we had other commitments otherwise we could have stayed longer), would say that is the minimum you would need. We did not have time to visit the tall ship moored outside the museum which is also free.
Esperienza fantastica: Informative and modern museum. Interactive for the kids as you can ride the buses and trains and also a lot of the old and modern history with great information for the adults. The wee town centre is cool but would be better with a working bar. As amazing to see the old taxis and ambulances we saw as kids as it was the trains, cars and boats. Well worth the five pound suggested donation
Esperienza fantastica: Building designed by the great architect, Zaha Hadid. It is worth a visit for architecture enthusiats. As for the museum, there are numerous transportation collections. It is free entry and worth a visit for those who are interested in transport related histories.
Esperienza fantastica: A unique experience to see all car generations in one place. And not only cars, trains, buses, bicycles, even first one. Memorable place, recommend do not avoid it.
