Esperienza fantastica: Free to enter. Lovely collection of Renaissance and 19th Century art with a focus on local artist Spanish born Sorollo. Good access and a spacious and well laid out building with plenty of washrooms.

Esperienza fantastica: Great museum that compiles a vastly collection of religious Valencian artist's works.

Esperienza fantastica: This was an unexpected pleasure (and not just because the museum is airconditioned and the 38°C Valencia heat could not be felt inside). Very good collection of medieval altar pieces, as well as a less surprising set of rooms in which works from the baroque era are shown. Some lesser works by well-known painters here (Velazquez, Goya, Ribera, Murillo) but really the medieval section stands out. When we were there there was also a nice exhibition on Sorolla. Be sure to take a moment to relax in the two open courtyards (blue and pink) for that truly Spanish feeling

Esperienza positiva: Galleria ben condizionata. Quantità significativa di arte religiosa cristiana. Alcuni bei pezzi e appiccicosi da guardare in silenzio. Nessun caffè e scarsa segnaletica su gallerie diverse. Ingresso gratuito e aperto fino alle 20:00 quasi tutti i giorni tranne il lunedì

Esperienza fantastica: I am generally not a fan of paintings, but I found a good portion of the art pieces interesting and enjoyed my time here. It's also air conditioned and free.

Esperienza fantastica: I enjoyed visiting it, you can’t have your backpack in your back or drink even water inside the building.

Esperienza fantastica: A delightful museum in which are to be found outstanding works from early local artists. Also , there are excellent local Renaissance works , as well as those from such celebrated artists of the Spanish Golden Century as Velazquez, Morales and El Greco. Among paintings from the 19th century, works by Joaquin Sorolla and Ignacio Pinazo are of particular note

Rachel Moolkum 1 year ago

Esperienza fantastica: Beautiful collection with many hidden gems. I visited twice during my stay in Valencia

Esperienza fantastica: What an incredible Museum with such important collection. One of my favorites in Spain. I was amazed to see lots of Ignacio Pinazo's paintings in one room. Finally a museum that gives credit to one of the most incredible Spanish painters. There are also several Sorolla's works in the collection. A must visit!

Esperienza fantastica: A bit too heavy on the religious art for my taste, but everything was beautiful, well displayed, and it’s FREE to enter. It is small so you only need to spend a couple hours in it. If you’re in Valencia and you like art, you should probably make your way over there. It’s supposedly the 2nd most important art museum in Spain. The bus (6 & 11) drop you off at the front door but you have to walk a while to catch the bus back downtown. (Cross the bridge, take a left and walk down to the bus stop down by the old ruins. It’s probably 15 minutes away.) I probably wouldn’t go back a second time but I’m glad i went the first.

Esperienza fantastica: If you are into culture and arts, this place is for you. I almost cried when I saw paintings of Velazquez, Goya and Ribera in real. The entrance is free of charge like most of the cultural things in Valencia, but I'd go again even if I should pay.

Esperienza fantastica: Lovely religious art on the first floor, we will return to see more later this week. People were helpful, English guides provided. (Btw, the lockers for belongings ask for 1 euro, we just had a 2 euro coin, but it was returned when we came back for our things. I saw someone with an earlier post about needing change. Not needed)

Esperienza fantastica: The gallery is very interesting and well organized: a wide exhibition of the most precious Catalan and European art from XIII to the XIX century. Francisco Ribalta, Velasquez, Luca Giordano, and Bruegel are just a few names that you will find here

Esperienza fantastica: A must visit! A very interesting museum! Enjoyed with my daughter. There is a place where you can leave big bags, you just need to have 1 € with you. Esperienza fantastica: We did a short first visit to the museum. We explored first floor to admire the altarpieces and paintings. We went to up to find Velasquez' gallery. Museum' map tells the important painting you museum see if you are doing a quick visit. We have to come back with more time to see the galleries in details and see the second floor and outside patios. It is free.

Esperienza fantastica: Great, though not extensive collection, with an El Greco, several de Riberas, Murillos, some Flemish painters, and, of course, Sorolla and pre- and post-sorollistas. You can get through the whole museum in just few hours. Totally worth it.

Anna Shevchenko 3 years ago

Esperienza fantastica: Very nice and well maintained museum, especially the last floor (lots of Sorolla and his followers). Don’t miss the impressive huge painting in the entrance! The only downside are the security guards, they follow you everywhere and it feels a bit u comfortable....(but that’s their job so it’s ok )

Esperienza fantastica: Really nice visit in Valencia to avoid the sun in the afternoon. The museum is huge and has an impressive collection. Free entrance.

Esperienza fantastica: A small but very worthwhile gallery. Entrance is free and the building is beautiful, with pleasant courtyards. The main collection is primarily medieval and Renaissance religious art, with galleries of more modern art (including a room of works by the important Valencian artist Joaquin Sorolla) upstairs. There are also a series of temporary exhibitions. A restful place to spend an hour or so.

Esperienza fantastica: Really nice free exposition. Medieval, baroque and impressionist valencian masterpieces. Free and recommended

Stephan 4 years ago

Esperienza fantastica: Fantastic museum featuring art and artefacts from about 700 years. Best bit - it's free! The bottom floor is largely dedicated to Valencian Gothic Art, Renaissance and Baroque while the first and second floor display a collection of Spanish, Flemish and Italian art. Most famous painters include Joaquin Sorolla. The museum is located in a lovely building with several courtyards. Not a busy place, I was surprised. It also has a restaurant. Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to try out the menu del dia which looked delicious on paper.
