ℹ️ Informazione

Esperienza fantastica: AN INCREDABLE COLLECTION OF ART AND SCULPTURE. I ENJOYED MY VISIT THERE AND RECOMMEND ALL TRAVELERS TO BURSSELS TO VISIT .

Esperienza fantastica: OMG! A hidden gem. This museum is an adventure. 50 meters of the European Parliament, where everything is new and shiny, I found this beautiful museum with Wiertz's work. His paintings are enormous and very impressive, but the building, the architecture of these giant rooms is overwhelming, and is so strange that not a lot of EU workers, or other know their way to this 19th century paradise.

Esperienza fantastica: Solo un'opera d'arte mozzafiato si è radunata in un posto. Sicuramente un must da vedere! L'edificio stesso è un po 'vecchio e ha bisogno di un po' di TLC, ma molto grande esperienza in generale.

Esperienza fantastica: The workshop of the painter Antoine Wiertz which has become a museum, you will be impressed by his huge canvases. In the large room observe at the bottom on the left in a corner the painting made on the wall that represents a woman who came to observe him when he was working. This painter lived his life here with his house next door, observe the entrance to the veranda of the house through the gate to the right at the top of the stairs. Look at the photos in the hallway of the museum which show his garden at the back of the house. Entrance to the museum is free.

Esperienza fantastica: incredible place, grandiose canvases, museum discovered by strolling through the streets of Brussels, a place cut off from time with a slightly eccentric but above all adorable guardian

Giulia Bresciani 3 years ago

Esperienza fantastica: A small and almost unknown museum which, however, contains a disproportionate amount of works. Admission is free, I highly recommend it. A little pearl in the heart of the city.

Esperienza fantastica: One of the best kept secrets in Brussels, a few meters from the European Parliament. The gigantic and dark works of Wiertz impress !! Admission is free.

Esperienza fantastica: A great little museum. Wiertz's art is on a monumental scale in the large atelier but there are also some smaller pieces in the other rooms. The larger works are a little like Rubens but some of the smaller paintings show a bizarre imagination. It's free - so well worth a visit. It was completely empty when I got there!

Esperienza fantastica: Excellent little ( well, little )museum dedicated to the Belgian romantic painter Antoine Wiertz. Receiving his training at the Antwerp Academy , he was passionate about Rubens , wishing to reach his level of artistic prowess and even to surpass it. So it follows that there is drama here and grandeur : Wiertz's Rebellion of Hell is 11 metres high !!! A word of warning though , several of his paintings are not for the faint of heart. Death by decapitation, gunshot and even cannibalism are present. Some claim that Bartholdi was inspired by Wiertz's Triumph of Light when he designed the Statue of Liberty. A final interesting feat that this was also the house were Hendrik Conscience spent his final years. Serving as curator for the Wiertz museum, he is better known for his epic novel De Leeuw van Vlaanderen ( The Lion of Flanders). As such this house was home to two of the greatest romantic artists of Belgium .

Esperienza fantastica: The phrase "hidden treasure" is overused, but in this case is entirely justified. Don't come expecting Old Masters: the museum only has works by a single artist, but Antoine Wiertz painted such a huge variety of paintings, all of which are incredibly strange, it feels like you're seeing painting by dozens of different people. Because it's not widely advertised, you often have the place to yourself despite it being in such a prime location. As an added bonus, it's free, unlike most Belgian museums which seem to make it a point of pride to see how much they can gouge visitors for. If you only have time to visit one Brussels museum, it should be this one.

Esperienza fantastica: Very interesting paintings, with lots of details and compositions that give a feeling of movement. Not a very big museum (one big hall and two adjacent small rooms, about 1 hour is enough

Erik Sandberg 4 years ago

Esperienza fantastica: It's a small museum but it's packed with Wiertz's work. Plus it's free!

Esperienza fantastica: Impressive this museum of the painter Antoine wiertz, we started the visit with the not small house, but the gigantic workshop! Really very exceptional.

Esperienza fantastica: Such an amazing museum - part of it's beauty also is that it is always empty and seeing those 15+ Meter high paintings in this huge empty room is just magical !!!!

Esperienza fantastica: A must see!!!! It is a hidden treasure in Belgium with amazing and huge pieces of art with a host that turns your visit into a magic one with his passion and wisdom and it is free!!!!

Esperienza fantastica: Lovely little museum. Not many visitors, silence. Interesting artworks! Could spend days there analysing the artworks and enjoying the silence and daylight coming through the roof. It was also for free. Definitely going back there. I love the place. Just one thing: some works are hung too high which makes it difficult to see them properly. A shame because those works are interesting too!

Zhufeng LI 5 years ago

Esperienza fantastica: Wiertz is the most buried painter I have ever seen. His work is probably between Baroque and Romanticism. In addition to the super-large paintings, which are very shocking, watching a lot of them is very thought-provoking. This museum is all Wiertz's personal works and some of the things in his studio. It is not very large. It is recommended to spend about half an hour to visit.

Esperienza fantastica: It was a place I had a lot of questions (Is this a museum? Is it open? Is it possible to store art in a greenhouse like this?), but it was a place with a real feeling. Small, warm, but quiet and lovely!

Esperienza fantastica: Hidden behind the European Parliament and unfairly overlooked, this museum has monumental paintings with impressive staging. It is devoted to the painting of the Belgian painter, Antoine Wiertz. Too bad it is only open on weekdays and not on weekends.

Micah LaDousa 5 years ago

Esperienza fantastica: We stopped in on a whim to check it out, and the guy working at the museum essentially gave us a free guided tour. We were the only ones there and he gave us a ton of history and background on the paintings. It was really interesting, without being one of those annoying situations where someone won't stop following you. He was really helpful, and clearly had a passion for Wiertz. It's a small museum, so definitely worth a stop if you are in the EU area.
