A very nice Museum&Art Gallery. Might be crowded at times, but totally worth it!
Very interesting and good for kids
The staff were very friendly and welcoming, nice sized museum and art gallery and some interactive areas for children.
Delighted to find it open at 1000 on Sunday - last chance to see touring art exhibition 'Sin' - featuring artists from Cranach to Emin. Very helpful gallery staff and informative permanent displays telling local history and environment.
My partner took us there for the good Joan Eardley paintings. I enjoyed the whole gallery and collections. Might be described as a typical Scottish Council-run museum with strong local orientation complete with fossils and stuffed birds. I don't agree with the reviewers who described the museum as small - I'd call it middle sized. There is a lot to see here and it's all well presented and free to visit.
An interesting and wide-ranging museum. Great way to while away an hour or two, with something for everyone. Many other things in Perth were closed due it being the off-season but glad that this was open. Worth seeing.
Nice little museum to pass an hour.
Nice day out to well worth visiting
#VALUE!
Great museum in middle of town - good exhibitions. Would ofliked to see otherPictish stone - stop hiding them Scotland!!! They are your history!!
This is a great visit. We were met on entry by a friendly and helpful member of the museum team and given a useful briefing. The museum is very well curated with a collection that will appeal to all interests and ages. The permanent collection has some remarkably good pieces. The special exhibition when we visited covered the many aspects of SIN and was well presented and well thought-out. The museum also has a small gift shop focusing more on quality than quantity (hand-crafted soaps, artisanal chocolate etc) and toilets. I would happily visit again. Thank you Perth Museum
Great little museum and art gallery. Great room for kids, history, natural history, along with live nest cam of an osprey nest and art from the national gallery so a bit of something for young and old. My little one loved the animal installation where you can press buttons for the animal noises.
The space exhibition for under 5s was honestly amazing, so well done and so much for my daughter to do. We live in Dundee and my daughter has been 6 times. So well thought out and planned!
Small but well worth a visit for the exhibits that they have
We have a fantastic experience and talking to the Roman soldier outside on the steps was insightful. The soldier provide a breakdown of the fighting and battle techniques used back in the day.
Great to visit, some lovely work including 'Christ Displaying His Wounds' that I didn't expect to see.
#VALUE!
The museum was much bigger on the inside than I had expected and very well maintained. The exhibits were very varied and I particularly enjoyed the shopfront exhibit.
Superb display of local items in the railways in perthshire exhibition. Always has a few surprises with friendly staff and everything is clean and bright.
Pleasant local museum well worth a half day visit. Very good Roman history exhibition on at present. Catch it if you can.
the journey of the birth of the Highland main rail line right through to the present day was captivating & the interactive systems were very interesting, certainly worth a visit
The only good museum in Perth with full of knowledgeable things. The best part is that it is free with a number of art displays with amazing staff members.
Excellent displays and the kids love the natural history area. It is also a great place to find out about Perth's history.
Free entry! All aboard was a new display of historic local railways enjoyed by husband!. Great wildlife section. Lots for children to do and touch. This would make a great rainy day excursion.
Fantastic museum which holds so much information from the Neolithic up to modern times. The railway exhibition which was on when I visited was full of information and photos of long gone stations. If only they could bring them back!
Well worth a visit. The special exhibitions are always interesting. Beautiful building!
Just the place to spend a few hours. Some splendid pieces of varying descriptions set in a pleasant environment. Staff pleasant and knowledgeable. Parking nearby.
Well worth a visit , we were lucky on our visit as there was a live conservation demonstration at the time, which we've never seen before so maybe a one off event but there is always something new to see, plus children's workshops throughout the year.
Nice Art Gallery lots to see and Learn. Free entry. It even has a lift for wheel chairs. Cool. Nice one. Love it.
Lovely! The staff member who welcomed us in was so friendly and polite. Love visiting little galleries like this - so lovely.
Stunning venue in the centre of Perth, with easy access for all. Love a visit to enjoy something new and interesting every time.
Small gallery but still enjoyable. Mix of paintings and artefacts as well as quite a bit on wildlife. Gives a good insight into nature in Scotland as well as how Scotland was formed. Pieces from other countries too dating back a long time. Enjoyable and a few interactive things for kids too. Centrally located and free with donations welcomed. Would go back if in the area. Staff also very friendly and helpful. Covid measures were good too.
This is a lovely small museum. It has very interesting exhibitions that are really good for all ages. Even bought a painting from a local art exhibition that the museum was hosting ! The staff were friendly and helpful too.
The building itself is a big attraction (though getting a good photo is difficult given the location on the corner of a busy thoroughfare), but once inside there's enough here to keep you captivated for a good hour or two.
Great small/medium museum, family friendly mix of local history and usual museum fare. Don't expect to be kept the whole day here, as there's just about enough content to keep you busy for a morning or afternoon.
What a beautiful place. Well worth a short visit. Excellent wheel chair user access. It has a lift at main entrance. Deceptively large on the outside but small inside. None the less still lovely. Pictures attached
Amazing building and we'll presented exhibits! Definitely a great place to visit..
Very accessible! Great wee place to get out of the rain for a bit. Lots of hands-on exploring for young children. And interesting things to look at. Admission is free!
Every visit I have had with the children has been fun and educational. This time we got to paint. There were activities to do in the animal section as well. Good layout and facilities. Easy access with buggy.
Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this excellent local museum. Much to see and do and they make every effort to cater for youngsters. Good exhibition entitled "Brick city" at time of visit.
Great museum, soon to move, so get there quickly. Some amazing exhibits - I wanted to see the textiles - and Picts and Pixels was the only part not free but well worth the small fee. The paintings, stones and sculptures were great but the best was a room about a local community archaeology project on items found in a local burn with the children's comments and hands-on exhibition.
A great local museum! There are a wide & varied selection of permanent and temporary exhibitions within the museum. Regular events take place such as talks or family crafternoons etc. There are lots of opportunities to interact with the exhibits. A particularly child friendly museum, there are lots of dressing up, activities & play areas. The silverware & glass exhibits are among my favourites and I also particularly enjoy the natural history gallery. Last time we visited, the Player exhibition was running, and we enjoyed seeing and playing all the games. The gift shop is stocked with a great selection of gifts & souvenirs, at a range of prices. It is easy to while away a good few hours in the museum without getting bored. The guides are knowledgeable and approachable. The toilet facilities are clean and well kept. Although there are no refreshments area/ café etc, there are a number of eateries in the vicinity.
