Het Aziatische kunstmuseum in Berlijn is een van de grootste en meest uitgebreide musea van Aziatische kunst ter wereld. Het museum herbergt een verzameling van meer dan 200.000 objecten uit heel Azië, met een periode van 5000 jaar. De collectie omvat kunst uit China, Japan, Korea, India, Zuidoost -Azië en de islamitische wereld.
Het museum bevindt zich in het hart van Berlijn, in de voormalige Pruisische koninklijke bibliotheek. Het gebouw werd gebouwd in de vroege 19e eeuw en is een goed voorbeeld van neoklassieke architectuur. Het museum onderging een grote renovatie in 2006 en werd in 2007 opnieuw geopend voor het publiek.
De collectie van het museum is verdeeld in verschillende secties, elk met zijn eigen focus. De Chinese collectie omvat kunst uit de neolithische periode tot de 20e eeuw. De Japanse collectie is een van de grootste en belangrijkste in Europa, met kunstwerken uit de 8e eeuw tot op de dag van vandaag. De Koreaanse collectie is ook een van de grootste in Europa en omvat kunst uit de drie Kingdoms -periode tot de Joseon -dynastie. De Indiase collectie omvat kunst uit de 2e eeuw voor Christus tot de 19e eeuw. De Zuidoost -Aziatische collectie omvat kunst uit Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodja en Indonesië. De islamitische collectie omvat kunst uit de 7e eeuw tot de 19e eeuw.
Het museum heeft ook een bibliotheek met meer dan 60.000 delen over Aziatische kunst en cultuur, en een natuurbeschermingslaboratorium. Het museum biedt een breed scala aan educatieve programma's, waaronder lezingen, workshops en rondleidingen.

The Asian Museum in the Humboldt Forum is really exciting and successful. The staff extremely friendly. The concept is quite coherent and the presentation and beauty are comparable to the exhibition rooms in the former Museum Dahlem. Really worth going. Full five stars.
The exhibits are of course fascinating, the staging less so. The alarm when someone gets too close to the pieces is aaaaaaaay annoying and way too loud!!!
It's a great place.. you need to spare at least 3 hours. You can get information about Asian civilizations. I haven't seen North Asia. I could not come across the north of the Mughals, the uyghurs. I said the Mongols would come out, it didn't come out much. The rest is great.. I gave my hours, I came out in awe
Very nice free exhibition with Indian, Chinese and Japanese exhibits. * Unfortunately, the audio guide (own mobile phone, without installation :-) ) didn't quite fit the order of the exhibition, which isn't that bad. * Bags and backpacks are not allowed in, but there are free lockers and toilets on the 1st floor (handicapped accessible and baby changing room). Very interesting collection. Not all facets are presented equally. China and Japan is rather disappointing, Budism is fascinating

Very beautiful, very interesting, and most importantly - free.
One of the best museums for East Asian art in Berlin. Well worth seeing because of the beautiful, old East Asian art woodcut painting, handicrafts and beautiful lacquer work. Unfortunately moves to the city palace in Mitte.
