🗣️ Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens: Meningen
Despite its relatively small size, Cummer is probably the best Art Museum in Florida. It has an amazing collection of paintings and other art, well-organized and explained, and extends it with nice small temporary exhibitions. Excellent location, easy parking, beautiful gardens, good museum store, and good cafe with outdoor sitting. This museum has it all.
A quaint and beautiful museum. i was there about ten years ago vacationing. I was on a walk that was longer than I had anticipated, and it was the off-tourist season in August, and I came upon this nice little air-conditioned museum with a cafe and gardens.
The Cummer Museum is relatively small by museum standards, but the exhibits that they do have pack a punch. I started off with lunch in the cafe which is sourced by a catering company. The Salmon burger was a delight. Spent sometime looking around indoors afterwards, saw the Warhol silkscreens and spend extensive time in the garden. It’s a wonderful place to stop while enjoying historic Jacksonville.
Gorgeous, quit, tranquil. Perfect spot to have an easy going afternoon. With a quick cocktail or coffee in cafe. Make reservations if you plan to have lunch. Only dislike is the mask policy, it's 2022, out of date. If you've had your vaccine it shouldn't be required.
It was beautiful here. We had a good time. It was free Friday between 4 and 9. We enjoyed the outside before it got dark then went inside to enjoy the art.
wonderful experience...great info and beautiful scenery...we enjoyed our first time there . don't have kids but next time I'll bring my nephews..the playroom is beautifully designed
I went to the museum recently for the first Saturday of the month when it is free. I sat outside in the garden for a while then went to look at the Buddha exhibit they had and was so greatly satisfied. I love this museum so much and can't wait to go back.
The museum and the garden are spectacular! It was an amazing experience. There was even an artist that sang so beautifully! I think it's free on Tuesday's They do have security guards all around. The art work was absolutely beautiful. This was just a few things that I saw....there were many more amazing artifacts to see...I just realized that I had a phone camera...lol! I had a wonderful evening with my mother who is 79 and my sister. If you love art you will definitely enjoy yourself !
Love the cummers museum. It’s fairly cheap and they have free days though out the month and always events on the weekends. Great spot to see art and nature in Jacksonville. It’s on the water and has a beautiful botanical garden. I don’t mind paying. Help support local businesses
It was the first time I ate there and I really enjoyed the food. The Cummer Museum is truly one of Jacksonville's gems and is worth checking out. There are great views of the city and the river in the gardens behind the Museum. I love this place.
I went on a Friday in the evening and it’s free than. But this museum is for all ages. They have a game room with max sizes games like chess, checkers, jenga, etc. Their garden is so beautiful, I would just go there again just to walk around it. They had some super interesting art that I would also recommend checking out. They have a cute gift shop at the front of the museum and they have a drink station planted at the front as well. They also have a food and flower place right next to each other in the middle (the food is light) but if your hungry I recommend.
Loved it. Nice Museum to visit with your family and friends. Need about 2 hours to really check everything out. Parking is across the street. We went on a Wednesday at 10am and it was pretty empty, but by lunch is was busy. Go after 4pm on Tuesday's and it free to get in. They do offer some food and drinks on the premises. Super clean and the staff was helpful and knowledgeable. Good news it's in a nice neighborhood one to lots of restaurants. Lots of people taking pictures so you can bring in a camera.
This was such a beautiful place! Very picturesque you can take pictures of everything just no flash. Definitely worth a trip. They have Student, First Responders,Health care worker & Veteran discount. Oh plus a lil Cafe offering wine + stuff.
One of my favorite places to go to. Always something new to discover. I love walking around the gardens. This is still one of my go-to hangout spots. Update: two years later and it is still my favorite place to be. It's amazing, no matter how many times you visit and look at the same paintings, you always discover something new. I enjoy my visits and always look forward to seeing the new exhibits.
I really enjoyed visiting this unique spot in the heart of Jacksonville, FL. The museum possesses some significant pieces by Warhol, Hurst and Rubens as well as an exquisite collection of early Meissen porcelain. Don't forget to visit their gardens and enjoy a peaceful atmosphere and beautiful views of the river.
The Cummer Museum is a "must go to" place in Jacksonville. The free Tuesday and Friday evenings are a delightful benefit. When we have out of town visitors, one of our touring stops is the museum. We love the art and the wonderful gardens. We have happily paid for entrance as well as enjoying the free hours on multiple occasions.
Outdoor garden is so peaceful and feast to eyes. I enjoyed the art gallery. It’s free admission on Tuesday and Friday from 4 pm to 9 pm. . First Saturday of every month it’s free. It’s wonderful place to get photo shoots.
Very very nice museum and garden area. We were very happy visiting and the first Saturday of each month admission is FREE! We still donated $10 each and it was well worth it!
Beautiful Art Museum in Downtown Jacksonville. They allow cameras but no flashes or tripods. Vystar Credit Union Free Tuesday's 4 to 9pm & PNC Bank Free Fridays- Free admission 4 to 9pm. The Cummer Museum is a nonprofit whose mission is to engage and inspire through the art, gardens, and education.
My boyfriend & I came in search of a unique experience and Cummer Museum certainly exceeded our expectations! We enjoyed a wonderful lunch at the cafe & took in the sights of intriguing art, before exploring the jaw dropping, beautiful gardens. Can’t wait to visit here again!
There was some truly beautiful and amazing artwork inside the galleries. The hanging floral installation was incredible, and definitely my favorite thing. But the outdoor gardens were just beautiful, and I really didn't expect it to be so lovely! I didn't know much before we went, I had just heard of this place before in passing, and we were pleasantly surprised by the whole experience! We are from out-of-town, and just happened to be here for the free entry on the first Saturday of the month, and we decided on a whim to run over since we were staying nearby. We had our 4-month-old in the stroller, and our 4-year-old running around, and although baby sister didn't care so much, big sister had a great time!
Its been awhile since I have gone to this wonderful Museum of Art & Gardens. The Covid-19 mess stopped me from going for the last two years. But since we seem to have a foot hold on that virus. I plan on going back. Tuesday's are Free but don't wait until its free its worth full price now. I have taken photos over the years of this wonderful place outside mainly for taking photos inside any Museum of art one should always check if that is OK. Jacksonville Florida has A lot of wonderful things to do for Residents and Visitors.
I always love coming to the cummer museum and soaking in the historical significance. The Rebecca Louise Law exhibit is one of the most beautiful and meaningful things I’ve seen. The staff is extremely nice and they require masks indoors. The garden is beautiful and recommend visiting on the first Tuesday of the month or every Friday which is free for everyone. They have all types of art from Mediterranean to Asian artwork. If anything, this is a great place for a first date or just touring Jacksonville. I hope to come back soon!
This place is amazing. Has a outside garden you can read a book in. Also outside dining as well. The exhibits in the museum were all unique. The best part is free admission on Tuesdays. Great place for a date, or to bring the family.
The museum is great, but I think the thing that really stands out about this place are the gardens!!! They are absolutely gorgeous and breathtaking!!! You can basically take a picture anywhere and it is frame worthy! I would recommend it as a great wedding picture vendue and they do have wedding packages. Also great for any photographers that love gardens and/or nature.
The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens was fantastic! We spent all afternoon walking around both the galleries on the inside and the gorgeous gardens on the grounds. Military, students, and healthcare workers get in free and even for the regular $10 it’s well worth it. Truly a gem of Jacksonville and if you have an afternoon to kill this is definitely a great way to do it.
We had a great time although a very quick visit because we didn’t know it closed at four on Thursday. The exhibit with the hanging dried flowers was amazing. And the gardens are stunning as usual. The staff are all very personable and professional. The guards in the main exhibit or so knowledgeable and informative it was very helpful to understand the display.
