Inclusif and artsy museum. Surrounded by cafe, pub, bars including cozy museum cafe. Learning about Van Abbe too, a businessman and tobacco from Indonesia
I found it beautiful. I will gladly return
Every Tuesday free entrance if you enter between 15h and 17h. Nice place to clear your mind and get some inspiration.
Amazing museum, cool architecture, beautiful exhibition and new experience
Nice museum, a must see if you pass in Eindhoven.
Frequent new exhibitions makes the place a favorite to come back to
Adoraria voltar novamente!
Remarkable museum and great exhibition.
Loved every thing abt this museum. They have pieces from Picasso, Mondrian. And many contemporary arts, visual, audio, interactive pieces where you can immerse yourself. I loved the fact from a modern art, right next door you can ran in to a piece by Picasso.
Must see at least once in your life. Beautiful architecture and many interesting paintings. I enjoyed not all of them, some left me a bit perplexed, but the art should emotion and nobody said that the emotions should be necessarily positive.
Wow! You can stuck here for a day. It costs every cents. Lots of floors, unexpectable exabition. It was interesting even for my 4 years old boy)
It was an amazing experience! It was my first museum for people with disabilities. I will never thought that it would be possible to realize something like this. The price to enter is reduced for students and the museum is so interesting. Basically there are some famous paint and they represent every paint in a 3rd way for the blind people and they as well give a sort of paper with a fragrance that reflect the meaning of the paint. I never saw anything like that in my life. The museum is clean and well treated, the personnel's are so kind and genuine
The van Abbemuseum features an excellent collection and dito staff. It's always fun interacting with them.
one of the best museums of modern art. to be honest, i am not a big fan of such an art, and i do not understand 95% of these "installations". but this is something different and quite interesting. there are tactile exponates, which you can and actually have to touch. i have seen also some things which should smell. architecture of the whole center is great. inside and outside. my personal highlight was a huge wall painted with actual problems of world. old building exposition was pretty boring.
Que bela galeria contemporânea! Eu sou bastante aproveitando o lugar aqui.
Very special museum! Their approach in dealing with their past and role in the society then is amazing. The exhibition, the collection... All really well thought and made. Start at chapter 0, take the lift from there to the 3rd floor. You might want to go back to -1 and back to third again... Do not miss the old building and if you see a beautiful corner with Persian rugs, tea, delicacies and friendly people... Join them, talk and listen. Great way to end your visit.
We went on a Tuesday afternoon between 15h and 16h which is free! We still booked the tickets online. We got to enjoy this big, fun, diverse museum for free! There were some pieces that were interactive (you have to scan the qr code), you could touch, smell and some had music! It's mostly modern art, which is not really my liking but I still enjoyed it very much. There's a gift shop and then a cafe by the lake, it's really beautiful! We also had to show our proof of vaccination.
Beautiful place, it's always nice to comeback to Eindhoven an visit the museum specially during the DDW.
The museum offers very interesting, worth visiting exhibitions and events. I was there last time to see Gülsün Karamustafa's and León Ferrari's collective exhibition and I was mesmerized. The museum architecture is interesting, the exhibitions are curated perfectly, the staff is eager to help and they are very friendly. Also the permanent collection of the museum is satisfactory. You should visit if you are interested in modern art.
Beautiful building from the inside, the staff is very friendly. There are specific paintings that have been reproduced in 3D so that people with visual impairment can also experience them.
A modern museum with an interesting collection of works and audio visual effects.
The exhibitions were thought provoking, visually appealing and adventurous. I spent time in the tea corner and had a lovely conversation with Jane.
Very unique exhibits, cool elevator. Also handy for school art tours to find and describe unique art.
Eindhoven / Netherlands ️ The Van Abbemuseum "The 'new' Van Abbemuseum is comprised of the renovated landmark building by architect A.J. Kropholler, dating from 1936, and two new sections. Both the renovation and structural alterations to the older part of the museum as well as the new sections are by the Dutch architect Abel Cahen. He has succeeded in organically integrating the old building into a new and larger complex. Despite its monumental character, the new building maintains the human dimensions so characteristic of the former museum. Massive installations or sizeable exhibitions as well as smaller intimate projects - such as showings of prints and drawings - can all be presented thanks to the variety of the exhibition areas. Cahen's distinctive design makes a notable contribution to Dutch museum architecture. The museum also has a whole range of new facilities, created by the Belgian designer Maarten van Severen including an auditorium and an education centre, which will accommodate a wide spectrum of public events." ♂️ Architects: Alexander Jacobus Kropholler . . . The museum is very well thought out, it makes an excellent case for modern abstract art as well as situating it in context, and giving a history of its reception including by totalitarian regimes. Bold display choices are made leading to the artworks being displayed in sometimes unusual ways but to their advantage. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The museum shop has many interesting things on offer.
Very good museum with some interactive features. Have nice cafe with nice view. As well very nice souvenir shop at the ground floor. Unfortunately part of it was closed for some workshops.
I had a great time, getting inspired by the great artists of modern times. And after my walk I enjoyed a delicious carrot cake with an energizing ginger cinnamon tea
So many curious and intriguing pieces of art. I was only able to cover half the museum but that was still worth it. The staff there suggested that we start from the top and work our way down and it really makes sense. There are several interactive exhibits so don't be afraid to touch and experience things. Always pause and ponder about the meaning of things :)
It's a great place to see contemporary art. We didn't notice how to spend 5 hours. Highly recommend to visit
I had a wounderful experience. The personnel was extremely kind, especially a volunteer man who i met at the third floor. He explained to me how to better engage with the artworks and we had a very nice discussion on the exhibition. I think it's one of the best museums of the country. I didn't really like the gender neutral bathroom concepts, though. But overall, 5 stars!
So having taken a diversion from our trip off route, we came across the Van Abbe Art Museum which turned out to be a little diamond of a find. On arrival the architecture of the building and design of the exterior was very impressive, before we realised we thought we'd entered through what felt like a bourgey coffee shop (although this turned out to be the main entrance) - before coming across the work of Monira Al Qadiri SPECTRUM I, an impression display of ceramic works representing the forms of oil drill heads. An interesting series of works which enticed us deeper into the building. The view across the water from the point was beautiful. A truly stunning combination of art & architecture. Inside there was a good programme of shows on but decided just to visit the collections that were free to visit as we were on a long roadtrip and decided to invest the money on a book instead. The overall experience was well worth it and so happy we found, and got chance to visit this place when we did.
Very modern and timely museum with a highly varied collection. Caters to art critics and occasional visitors. I have had my work displayed here twice now and I am by no means a proffesional artist, they stimulate young talent very well.
Amazing museum of modern art! It's rather big and has everything you can dream about. The key feature is atmosphere. Museum may lack world-class pieces of art, but there is amazing feeling of being in the centre of modern art, where you can touch, interact, sit or lay down. We managed to see the exhibition of post stamps of African countries, which illustrated their way of independence. Impressive, as well as the main part of the museum. A must-see in Eindhoven for everyone, who likes visual art.
Incredible amount of soace, it's an absolute labyrinth but that lets it have lots of different things exoosed without clashing as well as huge pieces in their many open areas.
If you're a museum fan and you're in Eindhoven, the Van Abbe is a must!
Worth a visit (fair price). They have very good exhibitions that are clearly building upon lots of expertise. The art that is shown is interesting and often politically related; it makes you think about what is going on. They have fun collaborations with (local) artists.
What an amazing museum! Such a huge selection, quite a variety of exhibits & each one is unique. In a beautiful spot by the canal. The layout looks confusing, but is very simple & easy to get around. Free on the first Tuesday of every month from 15:00-17:00, you will definitely need the 2 hrs to experience it properly.
Amazing, I love it. The expositions of modern art were exquisite but also the structure of the museum is awesome, super suggested!
Woah! Loved it! The setting, the exhibitions, maybe some of them are not so good as others but who cares. Everything is nicely arranged. Must go! Once again, Woah!
Very interesting museum, lot's of events happening throughout the whole year. The best thing about the museum is, that you can ask the women and men in the red shirts about the art works and they will tell you great stories or explain the setting to you. Probably one of my favourite museums of all time (:
Great collection, with interesting exhibitions! I went one by Qiu ZhiJie, and it was very intriguing. The cafe is cute and pretty, and the surroundings too.
Really great, world famous museum.
