Can Mario Museum

Very interesting museum space, with a large collection of sculptures, especially from the 20th century and by Catalan authors. Temporary exhibitions are also usually excellent. Very interesting written information offered to the visitor, as a self-guide. The conversion of an industrial space, an old cork factory, into a museum is done with great success. It is the headquarters of the Vila Casas Foundation for Catalan Contemporary Art dedicated to sculpture. Not far away you have the headquarters of the same Foundation in the Palau Solterra in Torroella de Montgrí, dedicated to photography, also very interesting.

A recuperação da antiga fábrica como museu é um ótimo trabalho, homenageia o Palafrugell. A torre adjacente que costumava ser um reservatório de água para o funcionamento adequado do processo de cortiça é espetacularmente bonito. O museu tem uma exposição permanente de escultura contemporânea da Fundação Vila Casas, cuja ontem, 7 de setembro, recebeu a medalha de ouro do Generalitat. Também vimos o Subirachs Storm. Vale a pena sua visita.

Atualmente, oferecendo uma exposição sobre a colaboração entre três gigantes da cena artística catalã, Gaudí, Miró e Gomis, para criar algumas das arquiteturas e arte mais emblemáticas usando materiais como cimento, cerâmica, vidro e metais de maneiras novas e criativas. A coleção permanente também está cheia de surpresas de artistas contemporâneos. Em suma, é necessário ver/fazer quando estiver na área de Palafrugell.

Definitely, the Torre de Can Mario is a place to visit in Palafrugell. You have to climb a lot of stairs, but the views are magnificent. Very recommendable.
