🗣️ Derby Museum & Art Gallery: Opiniões
It's free! Surprisingly big museum with lot's to see and lots to read. Not many activities for kids to do but still enough to keep older kids and adults entertained
A lovely few hours spent looking around the exhibitions. And all for free! My son was particularly excited by the Egyptian mummies as he is studying this topic at school. Would recommend to anyone visiting Derby.
Really interesting, planning on going back when we have more time.
Come here often for the exhibitions. Seen everything from original Japanese woodblock prints to Lego sculptures.
Fascinating place with interesting exhibits in the museum, including a boat from 3,500 years ago. Also the Joseph Wright exhibition was interesting with other artworks of interest. We have taken the grandchildren to events there in the past and recommend keeping an eye open for future events. And it's all free!
A lovely museum. We came to enjoy the Joseph Wright paintings, and look forward to coming back to explore more galleries. Excellent tea in the cafe, too.
Great paintings by Joseph Wright. I love the stuffed animals too and opportunity to see a real mummy!
The Joseph Wright gallery is the highlight for me, but there is also a wonderful collection in the museum. I particularly liked the natural history artifacts.
Amazing place totally free to visit the art exhibition is incredible cannot recommend highly enough. Definitely a must see
Just spent a good 4 hours going round the rooms. Haven't been round since I was a child.
Great little museum cost. Lots interesting things to see.
I visited the museum on its anniversary and got free cake. Congratulations and thank you for running the museum.
O museu é lindo. Possui piso térreo e 2 outros andares, também tem um elevador. Não havia guia turístico. No entanto, você pode se mover livremente e ver tudo o que está lá. Eu gostei.
Very well done museum. Also comprehensive wheelchair access. Great!
Excellent gallery and museum which has lots to offer. We spent two hours or so in here.
Absolutamente excelente, definitivamente vale a pena visitar.
A museum well worth visiting.Unfortunately, We only arrived an hour before it closed the door, and we didn't see it completely at all. Must go again next time. Take the children to broaden their horizons, and the museum is free.´・ᴗ・`
We visited recently and were extremely impressed by the whole experience. The staff were professional and knowledgeable and the exhibits were extensive. The Quentin Blake galleries were fantastic, an altogether enjoyable visit, thank you, and the coffee in the cafe was superb, would certainly recommend.
Just completed The Ram Trail. What a wonderful time. Great day out for Old and Young alike . You can walk as far as you want or as little. Plan your route and see more. We managed 27 out the 30. Coffee and cake, lunch or even a picnic to reduce the cost .
Loved derby museum... well worth a visit.. very interesting. Nice coffee shop.. for snacks..
Lovely place to visit with kids. So many different rooms and art galleries to see. Everything is very well organised and friendly staff who always very helpful. Kids loved exploring different places and things around the world history.
A good museum to visit. We are lucky in the UK to have free museums and it is well worth a visit. An eclectic mix of exhibits and something for everyone. The paintings were good although I would say the lighting in the gallery is badly installed and some painting are hard to see due to reflections. There is a cafe. The museum entrance doesn't look big but there are quite a few exhibition spaces upstairs and further inside.
First time I've took these two to a museum, they seemed to enjoy it, bit young to understand everything, but they seemed pretty amazed.
Very surprised at how big it is, huge display and range of exciting displays. Educational, eye catching and fantastic cafe x
Good place to go. Volunteer in second floor was very helpful can't remember his name but he is really nice. He give us a lot of information which was very interested.
Entrance is not through the art gallery door but a modern reception area at the other of the building which is fully accessible for both pushchairs and wheelchairs. This is the through the reception area which doubles as gift shop and there is a good selection of beautiful cards. The art gallery features the work of Joseph Wright a local painter and includes the famous picture of Arkwright of Arkwright mills. Very interesting local history section with local artefacts and discoveries including the cross from St Aulkmumds church which was pulled down to build St Auckmunds way. Good coffee shop which includes fantastic displays of local Derbyshire pottery including Crown Derbyshire and Denby pottery.i
Really great museum that is even better since the expansion/ renovation. Quality displays with local history, world class art from Joseph Wright and great cultural displays. Super safe during COVID times. You can visit knowing they're looking after you.
Really like the exhibition's, modern very well laid out very informative, and a lot of different things to look at
Wonderful little cultural centre to go to know a bit about the history of Derby and best of all its free! Loved showing visiting friends and family it and love to attend more
We visited to see exhibition of Leo Da Vinci's drawings. Nice experience. Good paintings
Excellent collections of old and new and art. Lookout for the special exhibitions. Well worth a visit for all ages.
I have walked past this place many times without realising the significance of the place. I attended the brick history with Lego and I enjoyed learning about war, space, trains and culture through creative expressions with the bricks. It is recommended for people of all ages as kids were fascinated with the legos and adults identified with the history. I spent time in the world collection and saw lots of West African arts on display, I never really attached such importance to them and felt proud to be part of such heritage. It is completely free and staffs were very nice and helpful. Looking forward to the next theme! Thank you Derby Museum.
Friendly staff. Beautiful art pieces. A great adventure for friends, family or even a date with your loved ones.
Fantastic find. Really enjoyed the displays and the enthusiasm of the staff. We will definitely return.
Nice museum with some great collections including Viking artefacts from The Great Heathen Army at Repton and a temporary display of Leonardo Da Vinci drawings from The Royal Collection
Really interesting museum located in Derby city centre. Lots of great things to see. Free admission although donations are gratefully received.
Loads of activites for kids to do and tonnes of lego around. The kids loved it. We also went to a lego building workshop (prebooked) which was fantastic
Wonderful place filled with everything Derby and beyond. Free entry and helped by you with donations. There is something for all ages and great galleries to explore.
Fantastic curation, local and world history by passionate staff, plenty of events. The Japanese ghosts exhibition has got to be seen, and the DaVinci sketches earlier in the year were mind-blowing
This is my local museum and I've been visiting for years! It's free entry so I visit often, they have lots of exhibitions and even have new ones every other month. The staff are so friendly and very helpful. There is also a gift shop and a cafe - since entry is free, you have pennies for a cuppa or maybe a little present. If you love art then they have a wonderful gallery. If you love animals, then they have a brilliant display of taxidermy - there's even a taxidermy fox on display that you can pat! There's a massive exhibition about war - with uniforms to try on and other interactive items, also lots of weapons to admire (my boyfriends favourite part of the museum) and loads more! This museum is definitely worth the visit!
can find History and art area, and a lot of books to explains what is in fromt of you.The bar is quite expansive
Great exhibitions on through the year. Lovely place to go for a cuppa or free activity for the kids.
