A nice little spot with an incredible collection of Mesoamerican art comparable to what you'd find in a world-class museum. Definitely add this to your list if you're in the area.

Wonderful museum! Absolutely gorgeous exhibits. I hadn't been in some time and they've made updates to the museum and the gift shop. Highly recommend visiting TMA!

Historic site and interesting architecture. One never feels rushed or crowded in the museum and courtyard. Diverse collections. Loved western, latin american and indigenous art. Special exhibits have been outstanding and eye-opening. All modern or contemporary art are conversation starters. Tasty food in Cafe. Check out the gift shop. Public parking nearby.

Love this museum! I only got to explore a small portion during my visit, but the mesoamerican exhibit was amazing and it was also great to see the more contemporary art. The layout here is very clean and it was free for military. I will definitely be coming back to see what else is there and to read up more on art history.

Great experience. Interactive viewing with docent Jaye-Lynn. Ask for her and you will learn to look harder at the artist's work. Artist Brad Kahlhamer was a very nice exhibit

Start of with free entry for veterans! 12$ for adults. Better than I expected. More room in this building than I thought. Very cool way to beat heat and get out of the house. The cafe attached is cute, with it's many different separate dining rooms and the big outdoor patio, shaded. Definitely a place one should check out if in the area.

Blown away by the 2 current exhibits! The small one and the larger one. My teen was having an anxiety attack immediately before our visit. She is 19 and an accomplished artist. Painter. The intimate size, other kind patrons and the amazing art diffused her anxiety quickly. It was my 60th bday gift from her to visit. We are brand new to Tucson! We already made a pact to visit often. The gift ship is so individual to Tucson! I'm not a fan of a predictable museum shop. I bought quite a few things, including unique gifts for others. Cannot wait to give those away. Gracias TMA, you're our new art love.

I had not been here for over 10 years and we went when the main exhibit was Brad Kahlhamer. It was suggested we start on the top floor and and work down and we are glad we did. Upstairs was very stark and regiments European works, but entering Kalhhamer’s exhibit and through to contemporary art and the further ones it turns out that the European display was a great reset gallery. We didn’t go to the very final wing, but super impressed and an excellent visit. T

O layout do museu e a arte em si foi todo fenomenal! Muitos lugares para sentar e ver as peças, absorvendo toda a experiência. O Museum Cafe estava localizado de maneira muito estranha e não era conveniente.

Nice space. Great to have thought provoking art from the region. We saw the Grace Rosario Perkins and Friends Show.

Amazing experience, way bigger than it looks like from the outside. If you're interested in art in Tucson, this museum is a must visit, was there for 3 hours and still hadn't explored every exhibit. Definitely coming back

Good assortment of art, in all forms of solid or painting. Best are Mayan ancient arts early in the museum tour. Oil painting are somber and accurate. Some art are angry in right thoughts, and identities. Great Western art. Best is probably Computer Programming as Future concept. Few Color Abstract Art is probably the time waster making you wonder what's the point?

Staff was absolutely friendly, I had no problem accessing this museum with my ROAM membership. The art currently on display is absolutely beautiful Patrick Martinez has a couple pieces that provide a very strong impression of struggles in society. It is a very humble museum. I absolutely love the environment. It is well worth it to invest in a membership. The experience was enriching to say the least.

Visited about a month ago on a day that I had free. It's quite the place. I took my grandson and he was very impressed and learn a bit about history. It's a very peaceful atmosphere. You can wonder and look at a lot of different aspects. I would recommend it and especially for up and coming children to learn.

This place is an absolute gem. Small but mighty. It is incredibly well curated and the pieces speak well both to those around them and the unique architectural spaces they are housed in. I loved the "Community Voices" feature that popped up next to artwork descriptions. It really helped lend a larger local and contextual understanding to the pieces. I also loved how the copy around the museum was informative, accessible, and interesting, without being didactic or academic and dry. I've been to so many museums I can hardly stand going in them anymore, but the TMoA really took me by pleasant surprise. The Western Spirit museum in Scottsdale could really take a page out of their book!

Museum has free entrance on second Sunday of each month for residents of Arizona. The the current exhibit, THE WESTERN SUBLIME: MAJESTIC LANDSCAPES OF THE AMERICAN WEST was lovely although we would have liked to see more work by underrepresented groups.

I was in Tuscon for the bike race and on Sunday we stopped by the art museum and little flea market. The art was really great and the structure of the building was a lot fun also. It is also a bonus that it is FREE.

Fee was reduced because some exhibits were being changed. Was an amazing exhibit. Looking forward to going again and seeing new artwork.

The Tucson Museum of Art is a wonderful gallery and a must visit. It has a great collection of local and national artists as well as some classics. Set in a beautiful building, you wind your way through different themes and special exhibitions. Great value and an amazing place to see this beautiful part of the world through the eyes of many inspirational artists!

I went during one of the free events. I was lucky enough to enjoy live music by Jovert, Tucson High's steel drum band. There were young and old having an awesome time. There was also crafts and crafts for the kids. I only had a short time to view some of the works of contemporary masters, as well as modern and Native Artists.

I'm a huge fan of art and I love bringing my family to this museum. They have exhibitions and feature artists a lot and their classic art section is very educational. Also, they offer military/veteran families free entrance so it's a nice place to go if you have a limited budget. I highly recommend that every Tucsonian goes at least once.

Ecclectic pieces well displayed on a downward spiral route that's easy on the feet. Lots of stuff to Google for more info. Rodin, Chagall, Monet and Cassatt to name a few. Worth the time and effort. Enjoy!

Loved the diversity of art everything from statues to landscapes and abstract paintings were displayed... loved the cultural sections as well.

Loved my visit, small but interesting... one thing I didn't enjoy was the security guy downstairs walking around talking on his cell phone, that was disturbing...

I visited the first Thursday of the month and had free admittance at 5pm. Lovely mix of western art and contemporary...definitely something for everyone. Plan on an outing that includes a stop at the Cafe A La C'Art on the grounds. Carlos Estéves was the featured artist.

This new upgrades and remodeling is absolutely incredible. There is so much depth the the layout and architecture. The building itself is art and the actual artwork ranges from different genres and colors and ideas all molded into unique masterpieces all in themselves. If you haven't been I recommend checking it out!!

WoW!! A beautiful, eclectic and intriguing collection! We especially like the feature exhibition

Outstanding space and variety of exhibits. The Museum even has a small cafe on site to grab a drink, snack, or meal. The current Exhibit was just starting the day we were there and a welcome surprise for sure. Grab a Membership and you get access here and in tons of other Museums all over the USA and International.

Talkative docent was very nice and the museum is bigger than it looks. The exhibits here were great especially since it's free for AZ residents.

The museum was under construction during our visit, but the areas that were still open were great. The gift shop though?! SO. HOT. I felt hot though the whole tour, but it was 104° outside and I just never seemed to cool down with all of the lights. There are some amazing works that you're going to want to spend a lot of time looking at. Like the piece in the second photo. Every inch, something new to see.

Ki'Jev King 5 years ago

We didn't get to see the main exhibit because they were preparing for the new one, but I haven't been here since I was a child and there were great paintings, sculptures and you could easily spend hours here.

For town this size, this museum can really stand in its own two feet. It's architecture is stunning, and the exhibits inside are remarkable. From structural art to famous paintings, this place really showcases a wide variety of art forms. I think what I was most surprised by that it seems to have a little something for everybody. I tend to enjoy most styles of Arts so this isn't a problem for me, but for people who are looking for more of a singular and whole experience, and to really dig into one particular type of art, this might not be for you. But I can say that some of the exhibits are very remarkable, and have some very reputable artists inside them.

I am not an art expert. The museum helped to expose me to some culture and show me the arts. This museum also participated in the Blue Star Museum initiative to permit active duty military access to museums. Thank you for showing us the arts. There were many displays in this museum in the guts of Tucson. It is much bigger than it looks outside. It has many levels with different medias of artwork ranging from sculptures to paintings. The local artists present a wonderful depiction of southwestern lifestyles. Take the time to escape the heat and absorb the amazing achievements of humankind's gift of God given artistry.

We just moved to town and decided to visit the museum as a family activity, and I am SO grateful we did! First of all, they partner with local libraries to hand out free passes, and it offered so much beautiful art that we were there for two hours and still didn’t see everything. There are a couple of nice spots for a quick lunch, either from the cafe or brought from home. The staff is unbelievably friendly and are so good with kids, it made the whole trip worth it just to chat with a few staff members. We went on a Saturday afternoon but it was still so quiet and un-busy that my 1.5 year old could freely explore (with Mom and Dad close by, of course!) and really enjoy herself. We are VERY much looking forward to coming back to see the other buildings and new exhibits as they come out!

Went on family day so as a local we got in for free. Great event and different t hands on activities for the kids. We got to make a metal picture frame and artist paper. They also we're giving out copper roses for all the mothers as it was mother's day.

Tucson Museum of Art & Historic Block is a great place to visit. The docent was very helpful in explaining the layout. If the weather wasn’t so hot we would have went to more than just the 2 main buildings. I might try the Free First Thursday this summer when it is open 5-8 pm!

This museum is amazing. There is so much to see, and so little time. Pros: The art exhibits are exquisite. There's a manual that you can refer to for each item on display. Every room has a different feel, and you know what you want to do at the very beginning. There is so much to see, but I decided to visit only a few themes. I didn't want to overwhelm myself, which is why I've decided to break this event up into several trips. I know it will be worth it. I made the mistake of coming through the cafe when I first arrived. I'm glad that I did because I will be sure to stop and try out the delicacies on my next visit. The gallery docents were very friendly and took the time to get to know me and my guest. We didn't feel rushed and had a lovely conversation and introduction to the museum. There is also a room dedicated for children as well. All ages are welcomed, but this room was a highlight for me because I will plan to bring my kid with me on the next visit. This was an excellent experience and I recommend it highly. I will be visiting more often in the near future and this is why this museum scored so highly with me. Cons: There is a 2 hour maximum parking if you want to be near the museum. Otherwise, extended parking is a short walk away.

They are undergoing renovations till the end of October. We didn't know and went anyways to find they had two free exhibits open; two different historical houses. They were very nice and the staff were very friendly. They seemed like they loved their jobs. That made it a nice experience even though the main building was closed.
