What a special place and great fun museum... don't forget to go to the top floor too and write with a goose feather..

Today after visiting the museum here I found out that The Hague also used to have a zoo, opposite this museum. This exhibition Boeken Zoo is again a very well organized exhibition with plenty of information about books in which animals appear. I will be present again at the next exhibition.

BoekenZoo was fun and beautiful. Beautiful old museum

Very nice, versatile museum! As a book lover, I especially loved the space with old books. There were more books in the attic, which you can browse through as well. Just a trip back in time! The printing press was also open (Sunday afternoon) and the volunteers had a lot to tell. It was clear that they had a passion for the profession, as well as a lot of knowledge!

Great museum with a fabulous little gift shop. The permanent collection is interesting and especially the small books in the mini library upstairs are fascinating. These miniatures are always nice to see. Current exhibition on Hermans is really amusing and insightful.

Booklovers unite! This is a dream for any booklover, even the kids are well catered for with the Lettertuin, activities and kid specific exhibitions during school holidays. The garden is also so nice, a good place to sit (with a book of course) and relax, you can bring your own lunch!

Interesting and nice little museum. In addition to the 'Egyptian treasures', including a mummy of a child, you also have varied exhibitions on the ground floor. But the most special thing about the House of the Book is the Scriptorium on the top floor. Workshops are held here about printing art, where you can print things yourself. You can often walk right in here.

Wonderful museum. Nice permanent collection and especially very nice exhibitions. The mini-books are great and the Rawie and Pesapane combination is brilliant. And all that in a beautiful building with a lovely garden. Definitely recommended.

The best branch which I ever seen

Gema! Amei.

Nice museum covering interesting facts on books/novels/artifacts from recent as well distant time. The interesting fact was learning about some set of books which used to be banned like ones which promoted racism, inequality, discrimination, etc... Definitely worth a visit.

What a great exhibition "bad books". The tour by actor / singer Jake Credit was great! Told in a playful way; in short, a special performance!

This beautiful museum Meermanno-Westreenianum does itself a bit too short by just calling itself 'House of the book' (that looks like Central Book House - which can now be called CB. But this aside). It is more than a house. It is a city palace with beautiful period rooms, filled with book jewels. A feast for the eyes, for your brain, even for your nose. And in the attic you will find the pleasure for your hands; the graphic workshop - the printing attic - where you can get started with lead, ink, paper and printing, and experience the old craft yourself. Incidentally, the 'Bad books' exhibition is a celebration of recognition and at the same time a poignant confrontation. Anyway: go and see!

In his life Baron van Westreenen brought together a beautiful collection of handwritten and printed books. In addition, he collected a variety of archaeological finds from ancient Egypt, and the Greek / Roman culture. All this housed in a historic Hague building with a beautifully styled interior and baroque garden. See there: Museum of the Book formally known as Meermanno-Westreenianum. In addition to the permanent collection, the museum offers current, dazzling and otherwise exhibitions about books, graphic / art / illustration design. Also: Tiny books and (studio) activities for young and adult children to see or do. ..or time to stroll around in a surprising environment.

Unexpectedly fun. Also because of the interesting exhibition wrong books. From the permanent exhibition I like the interactive presentation "from lead to Led". As well as the mini library, filled with miniature books on the second floor. The museum is accessible with the museum year ticket and definitely worth a visit

Amazing place for booklovers. The permanent exhibition offers an astonishing collection of miniature books (and much more.) But the real gems are the temporary exhibitions that change every three month. Every one of them I have seen was quite astonishing and I can't really close which one was the best!

One of my favorite spots because of the large garden in the back and because the themes are always related to books and I love viewing books. The books and gifts in the museum shop are unique and suitable for adults and children.

Little hidden gem of a museum with different books on display. When I went the origin drawings from Roal Dahl were on display which was a nice walk down memory lane. Definitely worth a visit.

The museum is located at Prinsessengracht 30 in The Hague, about a kilometer walk from the central station. It is located in a fairly old building, probably once an ordinary house. I went there for the exhibition 'Porno on paper', about the history of pornography recorded on paper in the Netherlands. This country has had some heydays of pornography, as well as some periods when it was strictly forbidden to produce, trade or possess it. During those periods what was left of the last 'legal period' was destroyed after all. Writings from these periods in particular have been preserved. It is also striking that since printed pornography was legalized for the last time in the mid-1960s, visual culture has also begun to advance. Over the last 10 to 15 years, paper as a carrier is increasingly fading into the background. And exhibiting a website doesn't really suit Meernanno, the museum of the book.

The best writing workshop I've ever had! It's on the third floor, hosted by their hospitable staff, offering you a comprehensive understanding about how ancient books are produced and its tremendous value. You can write your own : )
