Beautiful place, you have to visit it repeatedly because it is a wealth of history

A good museum, with pieces from all over Europe, and some from outside Europe. When I was there, there was also a temporary exhibition of coins from Africa. There are coins from ancient times in Greece to current coins in Spain, ordered by date and with a large number of them to be able to compare them. There is also some stamps, paper money and stamps.

I found the history and evolution of the Currency extraordinary, very interesting, I recommend it, I went on a Saturday morning, admission is free.

The collection of coins is huge, in addition to the machines used to make them, banknotes, medals and stamps. You learn quite a bit from the origin of currency to the modern age. When I went there was an incredible temporary exhibition of the medals that Manolo Prieto has made. Admission is free and it is open almost all day, although on weekends it closes at 2:00 p.m. It can be seen completely in less than two hours at a normal pace, an hour more if you read absolutely everything.

Magnificent museum and a fantastic and extensive history of currency from its origins to the present day. The audiovisuals and the free downloadable audio guide for mobiles are a great support during the visit. 100% recommendable. A very little known museum and one of the best without a doubt. Quite a pleasantly unexpected surprise.

The museum is located in a majestic building, it is located on the third floor of it. It is accessed after the security controls, you can go up either by stairs or by elevator. On the third floor a person with a wheelchair can move without problems. The route to follow is well signposted. We are received by a security staff or guide who very kindly tells us how to go around it, they also give us a game for the kids to play with the elements of the museum and thus be more entertaining. Then if you solve the game they give you a giant chocolate coin to the kids. In the museum you can see how coins and medals were designed until a few decades ago. machinery and history. Then you can see an impressive collection of coins from Spain and around the world, their history and how they were made. Very interesting, I recommend going first thing in the morning to give yourself time to enjoy everything.

If you are fond of numismatics, this should be a must see. And if you are not, I also recommend it, because this museum is a part of our history. If you have ever been to the Wizink Center, you may have wondered about that imposing and almost windowless building that is right next to it. Well this is it; but of course, what we can visit, the part of the museum, is a very small area of it. Obviously, the rooms where the little money is made remain hidden from the sight of curious people...

I am a coin collector and seeing this museum is a pleasure that I would spend the whole day. But I consider that it is a museum that has little impact. I think they do not give it the importance that currency has as a historical archive throughout history. We know how to date and understand historical social and political movements through coins. They do not give it the importance so that new generations can learn about the wonderful world of Numismatics.

Spectacular collection of coins. In addition, at the exit there is a coffee vending machine that for 0.40 euros makes you a pretty tasty coffee.

Great museum! I went with my children and the game of deciphering the mystery as a family has been amazing, a fun, playful and unique experience. Super recommended!!!!

The entrance to the exhibition is free with your passport, you download a guided tour in your language, and at the end you can buy a "souvenir" a coin that you make yourself after a good blow. Throughout the visit you take about an hour and a half, and it is very interesting.

A great museum surprise. It has an incredible collection of coins and bills. They also have stamps, medals, and associated machinery. An incredible experience for the children with the investigation of the case of disappearance of a museum piece, they enjoyed it very much. Congratulations to the promoter of the idea. They want to repeat. The research materials were terrific. I encourage you to have more materials like this. Fully recommended and especially for children.

A great unknown in the museums in Madrid. The entry is completely free. The museum is located in the Coin and Stamp Factory, on its third floor. The tour is extensive, with 12 exhibition halls ranging from the appearance of the first coins to the present day. It also has an exhibition dedicated to stamps. Highly recommended.

The museum dates from the eighteenth century and its origins are closely linked with Tomás Francisco Prieto, General Engraver of the Mint of King Carlos III. He was Director of Engraving at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando and in 1771 founded a School of Engraving. At this school were the craftsmen who would later to work at the Royal Mint of Spain and its colonies.

E agora as melhores notícias ....
