Wonderful collection, many known and lesser known Spanish artists

So much better than the modern art gallery in Barcelona (MACBA). Interesting and fun. Free entry and 5 minutes walk from the Old Town. Loved the Staring at the Sea piece.

Well worth a visit, this free to visit art gallery has some interesting exhibits and insights on the evolution of contemporary art in Spain and the world. We'll known Spanish artists like Miro feature alongside others. Good curation of the work, well thought out layout.

We really liked the work of Alicantino artist Eusebio Sempere, and the pieces that make up his 20th century collection. It houses at least one Miró (love his work) and others by Picasso and Dalí. It was cool to learn about Juana Francés’ work, a local artist who also bequeathed her “col.leccion” to the museum. A nice didactic part for children too and free entrance, so well worth it for art lovers/artists #zudigart

Sempere's geometric and moving pieces are fantastic. I'd travel a long way to see more of his work, and I had never heard of him before visiting MACA. Wonderful to have such an amazing free museum in centre of Alicante

The Museum is one of must see place of contemporary art in the world. It sits next to the Basilica Santa Maria where after the service at 11 30 each day -a visit is a joy.It's Library is open before 2 pm. The building itself is worthy of high praise and the collections are diverse and make you think.Congratulations everyone involved. Roy J Thomas -Wales

A very interesting building from the early 17th century. Renovated in a modernistic style and best of all - a museum of contemporary arts. Lovely

A very good experience to have around noon (to avoid the warm weather and to get some cultural benefits).

Como una Estrella Alicante Museum of Contemporary Art (in short Maca) houses in the Casa de la Asegurada, one of the civil buildings in the city. Set in the old quarter of Alicante opposite the splendid Basilica de Santa Maria. It boosts a high-calibre collection of contemporary art including the renowned Eusebio Sempere collection. We loved the kinetic pieces! Looking for a great camping resort in the Alicante area? Marjal Costa Blanca Camping & Resort is a 30min/40km ride. It boost several pools, great slides and great entertainment.

Amazingly beautiful contemporary art museum in Alicante, I would even say the top thing to do here. It is located in a nicely refreshed new building and is not a typical museum feeling you get here. The temporary exhibition was closed, only the permanent exhibition was open but that was the biggest part of the museum ánd it is completely free. Very good content of Spanish artists.

Nice museum with Miro and Vasarely works among others. Great to rest here from crowds. Actually apart from walk to Santa Barbara castle this is my greatest experience in Alicante.

Beautiful museum with very friendly staff (apart from the security, i felt like a ghost when greeting them). There is a lot to see and it is located in a beautiful central area,plus it is free. It is definitely worth checking it out!

Interesting contemporary art museum in the old part of town of Alicante. Worth a 45 minute visit, and it is free!

wow! really good museum! we spent arount 23 hours and totally we could spent more time looking and learning in that museum lots of the spanish history.

A really nicely sized museum with a great permanent collection and an interesting style. The top floor was modern geometric/architectural metal sculptures and paintings from the artist responsible for securing the funds for the museum. I'm grateful for the museum, but not a big fan of the art... The second floor had a fantastic mix of modern art from Spanish and foreign artists including a Calder mobile, some Miros, and a few folks I'd never heard of before. One of the staff told us that they had Picasso and and other modern masters that were currently out of rotation, but still included in their permanent collection. It's definitely worth checking out MACA especially during the hottest part of the day if you're not on the beach.

Beautiful modern building and fascinating artwork. Spacious interior and good layout. Not crowded, so one can enjoy the museum's content in peace. Very nice!

Small but interesting museum of modern art of local artists. Good way to spend a couple of hours on a wet January afternoon.

If anyone likes the art I recommend, one Picasso work, free admission, no photo opportunities
